- Gran Turismo 7's DualSense feedback is a game changer
-
I wish this game would have a demo, I like what I see about it a lot but I just need to feel the driving to be 100% sure
ID: hz20vlhID: hz2aks6I'm going into this have with a Mindset of car collection and car photography rather than racing tbh haha
ID: hz3mnf1Better be careful. Say simcade on the GT subreddit and they lose their minds lol
But that’s what it really is in the end.
ID: hz2hlp3Forza 7 feels better than GT Sport with a controller. I hope that GT7 physics and dual sense features help with that.
ID: hz2i69wIf you like sim driving you’ll love it. If you want arcade, no braking, redo racing then you’ll dislike it greatly.
-
Can't wait. I've sent a Thrustmaster T150 back after testing it for a week because, even though it was fun, it was too big of a hurdle to get it out each time and store it after a session so I was looking forward to a good experience.
Seems like this could be it so tomorrow midnight can't come fast enough.
ID: hz1v62vIf you really like racing and play (not too “arcady”) racing games a lot, a good wheel (like T300RS or better) is a great investment, even the best integration of the Dualsense in GT7 can barely compete with the feeling and feedback a wheel gives, though that’s just my personal experience
ID: hz23lyiI agree with you. Once you get used to the wheel you gonna be so much faster, it's insane. I remember playing for the first time, I was so bad that it made me not touch it for 2 weeks hahaha
ID: hz30mqdAnother option which I like, is a chair like the playseat challenge. It's not the most stable thing in the world. but it works well with my Fanatec CSL Elite setup, and I can fold it to move it pretty easily:
You can keep everything mounted, just disconnect the USB cables and fold it up. Then I just lean it against the wall.
-
Fantastic. Was hoping for this.
-
Can the controller be the wheel?
ID: hz1ki8yYep, GT Sport had gyro steering option too
ID: hz2e7e7That’s cool. How accurate is it? Like is it meant to emulate an actual steering wheel or is it more just tilt the pad left and right?
ID: hz1j7jcYes, gyro steer is the way!

If there’s a game I’d bet would have great dualsense design/implementation it’s GT7, but can we please stop calling the other games that have very minor haptic feedback “game changers”? Without exaggeration every single game with dualsense, no matter how minor or lazily implemented, will have titles like this.
Like I’m loving Cyberpunk with the next-Gen patch, but there’s only dualsense features for driving and shooting, and even then it’s more vibrations rather than custom haptic designed to fit the exact activity and bring it to life, yet there were articles posted here likening what Cyberpunk did almost as unprecedented and mind blowing. We need to have a scale or something that differentiates dualsense from games like Returnal to games like Cyberpunk, because if you didn’t have a PS5 and went solely off articles you would genuinely think they’re the same.
ID: hz1pn6nAstro's Playroom, Returnal, Ride 4, and Black Ops Cold War are the 4 that stick out for me the most as being "wow this is amazing". Other than that, they all have been pretty similar.
ID: hz1xll6Horizon FW has good dualsense features imo
ID: hz1x1qgGhost of Tsushima's haptics are pretty great too
ID: hz2f54mRift Apart is pretty great.
ID: hz1y35cDirt 5 has excellent implementation as well.
ID: hz1qdkbI like the trigger that clicks down when you accelerate and change gears in cyberpunk. Such a small but cool detail. It even clicks when you brake.

Any non-paywall links?
-
Looking forward to trying both dualsense and the g29 wheel
-
Thing is, 3 hours before review embargo lifted, there was a 4GB patch which completely changed how adaptive trigger works on throttle. I think it's better but meanwhile it totally nullified what reviewers (including me) experienced for the past two weeks.
-
This is the number one reason for me choosing the PS5 at launch instead of the XSX (always knew I'd end up having both eventually, so it was mostly a question of which to get first). I can't fucking wait. WRC 9 was already incredible and I'm so pissed that they screwed it up in WRC 10. I was expecting so much from ACC but the haptics are so disappointing that I'd rather play the PS4 version.
The Dualsense has the potential to revolutionize racing games more than any other genre and I can't wait for it to better used
-
Sad that is not supported in Elden Ring.
ID: hz29y16It actually is but it’s just very minor
-
It's just a shame that necessary accessibility features that I as a gamer without sight and so many others would need are not included to make for a complete inclusive package.

I keep seeing this about dual sense and I just dont understand it. I've had every playstation console. Vibration is cool. but dual sense doesn't make me experience water or the feeling of a rope burning or anything. it's literally just vibration. I have the feedback settings maxed, and it's still... just vibration. the only noticable things is when it is a little harder to pull the trigger for instance in horizon forbidden west when hitting a fire gleam. I've played the FPS/shooters with this too and while neat it's not a game changer for immersion. if anything it's just a bit annoying. The only nice thing is in driving instances you can partially pull a trigger for 'some' throttle, it's not just 0 or 100 throttle. I guess I'll see when it comes out.
ID: hz1t74uIt's more nuanced vibration, you might not enjoy or notice it much but it is a step towards being more physically connected to the game experience.
If a full on matrix type brain interface is the goal, we've now made huge strides towards visual and aural stimulation. Tactile is finally catching up, while taste and smell are nowhere to be found yet...Unless you count Doritos and monster energy drink
ID: hz1v7haDid you play Astros Playroom? You can actually feel ice skates
ID: hz202drThis. Astros playroom shows it off the best in my opinion. It makes the games more immersive.
ID: hz21ithNot OP, but I've played it and agree to him that it's just vibration with extra steps.
ID: hz1t5d9When it’s done right it’s not just vibration. I mean, it is exactly that but it’s something more. In Astro’s Playroom when I was skating on the ice it literally felt like how it feels to skate on ice. I mean that whole game shows what dual sense could be. If it was done right in this game then it could be crazy.
ID: hz1traqAs someone who just got it a week ago, the vibrations are a lot more nuanced allowing for more complex vibrations vs. the older controllers. It was night and day for me, I'm going to venture you have just gotten used to it quickly.
ID: hz29ejxIt's not just vibration - it's force feedback on the triggers as well.
ID: hz3018bwhat else did you expect?
-
Glad to hear, just wished more 3rd party games would implement proper support for the DualSense feedback as it is definitely a game changer when used properly.
-
LOL @ clickbait bullshit about vibration being a "game changer"
ID: hz30abhnot just vibration, also adaptive triggers. it definitely helps in racing games when done correctly, and works similarly to force feedback wheels.
-
For some reason this is said about every game implementing haptics and trigger resistance stuff. I’ve owned a PS5 since december 2020 and I can honestly say:
It never is and it never will be “game changing”
Fanboys can’t stand the truth, gfys.
ID: hz37vi8Ya i think it’s really cool but maybe not totally “game changing.”
Adding triggers and analog sticks was the real game changer. Because it totally affects gameplay.
I will say that GT7 might be the first game where it could be a true “game changer.” If you can “feel” the tires starting to lock up under braking or start to lose grip around a corner, really adept players are going to be able to use that information to their advantage.
-
i'm gonna have to sub for a month of Gamefly so i can try this out
-
Is there Motion steering?
It would be so cool. I know motion is amazing at aiming and this game doesn’t exactly need that precise movements. But Having motion steering would make the game more accessible and tbh more fun to play.
ID: hz3jvbfGT Sport had it and it appears from other comments here that GT7 does have it, as well.
-
WRC 10 has amazing Dualsense features so I hope GT7 has some just as good.
ID: hz3p5rjWrc9 too, will be interesting to see if it’s really ‘game changing’ compared to these
-
Forget Dualsense!
Imagine the PSVR2 support!
-
DualSense feedback is cool the first few times it happens and then it's either annoying or you forget about it.

There is no other simcade out there that feels as good as gran turismo on controller. And I'm not talking about the dualsense features, it's just the way it translates your input into the game and how the pyhsic engine reacts to it.
As long as you do not expect some arcadish fun racer and you are aware that racing in this game is more about finding the right breaking point and perfecting you racing line than crashing with max speed into your opponents, you can do nothing wrong with this game.
