I bought a new Skoda the other week and I'm peev'd that the car has 4x USB C connectors bit my X570 motherboard doesn't have a single one.

It's nice if you're booting from a USB Flash Drive, or have a read-only flash drive to hold keys or something like that. Also useful for e.g., a Yubikey if you want to use it as a Smart Card replacement (e.g., for GPG).

I love having these on a server so I can have the flash drive containing the live Linux os plugged internally.

My ASRock Z270 Taichi actually has one and it was quite useful for plugging the control USB for my Corsair AIO since all three of my USB 2.0s and two 3.0s were already occupied.
Whenever I finally upgrade motherboards, It's gonna suck since newer boards have been skimping on providing USB 2.0 ports and I've got plenty of legacy part's I'd like to keep running since I don't want to switch cases and stop using all my 5.25 bay stuff.

I had an In-Win dragon rider full atx case back in the day and this would have been great. It had usb 3 ports on the front but they turned out to be just usb 3 extenders that I had to feed the cables through the back of the case and connect to the usb 3 ports on the back.dragon rider case

back when usb3 was new there was no internal header and cases had front panel wires that ran out the rear of the case and plugged into the rear I/O, the OEM just did this inside the case

These were in some Dell computers we had at work. It was fun trolling our boss with a wireless usb keyboard. He never found out it was us lol.

It's pretty common on some workstation/server motherboard (even the latest Mac Pro has one). It's usually used for USB license key (license dongle).

I have 3 USB devices to plug in inside my case (AIO, PSU and fan RGB hub), and only two USB 2 headers, so I've had to buy a splitter. Ports like these would have been useful.

i tried to have some temp/hum sensors using arduino in my pc.. and i would have loved to have somthing like this on my moderboard xD
