The game has many disadvantages, but the graphics are not one of them – the atmosphere, art style, particle effects, ray tracing, smoke, lighting – it all creates a great graphic design!

really has a great atmosphere. this game could've been one of the best games ever...

Yes I was so hurt

3 : Anonymous2021/03/07 21:09 ID: gq50oze

As long as you don't stay in one spot for too long, yes, the Atmosphere is amazing.

4 : Anonymous2021/03/07 21:12 ID: gq5149a

Agreed. Very good and atmospheric graphic & world-design.

However the atmosphere starts to break apart if you actually try to engage with the world or if you observe it for longer than just a few moments.

ID: gq763ha

True, the lack of possible interaction is a shame - when playing it you’re constantly bummed because you can see all the amazing potential and how little it is used. IMHO they probably can make an epic DLC in exactly the same Basic world and only add interaction and detail (but then not release for old consoles).

it has a very heavy focus on visuals. similarly to most modern triple a games. It seems like they didn't try to appeal to anybody besides the most average gamer. I know I'm old and not as easily amused as I was first time playing similar games. And its harder and more expensive to appeal to more mature audience as well. The marketing really made it look like it was gonna be interesting but they really neglected niche audiences. Probably because lack of time and greedy management. I still hope it can get more interesting with patches. The beautiful scenery is just not enough although really nice to have.

I consider myself an older gamer too (I've been playing games for 30 years) and consider cyberpunk 2077 to be one of the best games in recent years. I had so much fun in the sci-fi action-rpg game last time in 2001's Deus Ex. I have the same feeling as another older player writing here, so I won't repeat:

I wouldn't even say appealing to a niche audience lol. They didn't really appeal to any audience other than stakeholders.

CP is great to look at, not actually play. Albeit not even to look at too closely because then you notice the BS.

Definitely. Masterpiece elements in a 6/10 game, makes it even more bizarre. It's SUCH a waste on the hard work that went into those elements. But a game cannot exist solely as a beautiful moving screensaver.

7 : Anonymous2021/03/07 21:58 ID: gq57p2r

It’s really is insanity. The art and world design people at CDPR who built this part of CP2077 must be just destroyed over the overall launch being... troubled. And media outlets scrambling to get clicks on the “cyberpunk is bad” news cycle.

I appreciate the fuck out of CDPRs night city. I think it’s nearly a masterpiece. Give those people a raise or a bonus or something.

I just started playing GTA5 Online again. Its hard not to go back to cyberpunk. Cyberpunks graphics are so realistic. It feels more cinematic then GTA for me.

8 : Anonymous2021/03/08 00:20 ID: gq5or9o

Yes amazing atmosphere however the deeper you look you see how dead and empty this game really is...

9 : Anonymous2021/03/07 22:50 ID: gq5en7a

Ps5 update needed

10 : Anonymous2021/03/08 02:22 ID: gq61xcu

I do agree but this video is way too dark to showcase what you're talking about.

11 : Anonymous2021/03/08 05:03 ID: gq6i585

In PC for sure

12 : Anonymous2021/03/08 05:11 ID: gq6iwdw

Yes, but my pc can't handle the max graphics so i need to stay in medium

13 : Anonymous2021/03/08 08:20 ID: gq6waic

That's why i wait till update my graphics card. Will took me another year?

14 : Anonymous2021/03/07 23:17 ID: gq5hqhj

That’s cool but I don’t play video games to walk around and look at things. Also it’s impossible to find a GPU so can’t even enjoy the graphics.

That’s cool but I don’t play video games to walk around and look at things.

Everyone has their tastes - one wants to walk and admire the city or nature, and the other wants to pursue chases with the police.

I love to walk around virtual worlds, I really enjoyed RDR2 and horseback riding in wild nature, mountains and valleys - I could really feel like I was living in those days.

I love Night City and I found buying the game just for the beautiful architecture and the atmosphere that made up the city was worth it. The rest of the elements, such as shooting and plot, are also at a high level and perfectly complement the experience of the game.

Also it’s impossible to find a GPU so can’t even enjoy the graphics.

It's not the game's fault that there are problems in the graphics card market right now. I play on RTX 2070s, bought a year ago specifically to play RDR2 at maximum settings, but I didn't hate the game trying to play on weaker hardware ...

I'm curious why people in this sub feel the need to frame any positive commentary with "I know the game sucks but..." It's so freaking toxic. Don't you get tired of it?

"I know the game sucks but...

If you don't include this phrase at the beginning you will be hated in the comments and your find will be downvoted - this is how this subreddit works.

ID: gq766z5

Might be connected to the fact that every comment that says anything positive is obediently downvoted? 🙂

Shut up. The game is bad

16 : Anonymous2021/03/07 20:54 ID: gq4yi25

You didn't mention it, but I think the sound design and ambient music in particular was a big part of what made the world pull me in.

17 : Anonymous2021/03/07 21:26 ID: gq531kt

Night City is a Beauty.

18 : Anonymous2021/03/07 21:40 ID: gq552m0

Graphics lower than The Last of Us 2 and Red Dead Redemption 2. ¯ _ (ツ) _ / ¯

Higher quality video

22 : Anonymous2021/03/08 01:35 ID: gq5wty6

the water is pretty bullshit though

ID: gq6shwa

I don't know, it looks ok for me. Nothing special, but there is no tragedy - considering that (except for one diving mission), the game is not played on the water at all, it is not surprising that water physics is turned off to save resources. The game still has serious performance problems on slower systems.

The game engine itself can generate beautiful physical effects of water, as was seen in the previous game, The Witcher 3.

23 : Anonymous2021/03/08 08:08 ID: gq6vk3k

I think the atmosphere in this game is pretty bad, really bad sound design and ambient sounds. Night city feels dead as fuck.

Valheim a recent game made by 5 ppl has 10 times better atmosphere with low poly graphics than cyberjunk.
