Me Being scared from my jet engine of a ps4, I decided to opened my ps5 yesterday after only getting it for Christmas, nothing in the fan surprisingly, instructions below:
Flip Your PS5 Sideways if not already done so, stand must be on sideways. Make sure that the plug ports are facing you, basically disc drive facing away from you Pull up on the back left corner and push down on the front left right corner, the plastic is solid enough so don't be scared to pressure it too much If the side hasn't came off push to the left more, its supposed to slide of the left side If it still hasn't come off try again or simply comment on my post, if it has the way to put the case back on is to place the case back on the side and push, the little indents should be aligned and should click togetherI don't know what else to say, this is my first post I hope I was of help to you 😀

The official tear down video was clear on this, and even showed it being done. That was then followed by a load of YouTube influencers struggling to take it off and not know how to do it, despite pumping out a video a few weeks before with "10 things revealed by the PS5 teardown" or some shit.

No wonder that despite talking about the PS5 teardown video, they unsurprisingly don't have a clue how to do it with a real PS5. It's like Polygon trying to beat the tutorial of Cuphead.

I mean that’s the whole point of YouTube, uploading videos about anything you want.

Edit: upon further review I think this is not true. At the bottom of the instructions it says, roughly, “this is expected and is because of a higher data transfer” I think the instructions are for when your disk is stuck in the player. Don’t do this to reduce sound
This is useful. Are you sure the noise is not caused by the blu-ray drive (unless you have a digital unit).

ah ill try that, thanks for linking it, even though I don't use my ps4 anymore it would be nice to fix it!

I assume you mean front right corner, opposite the corner you're pulling up on.
Idk why people are worrying about their ps5 going jet engine mode, its much bigger than the ps4 which means it can dissipate heat better and also take in cool air easier, obviously tho if you put your ps5 in an enclosed space where there is no proper air circulation then that could possibly lead to it going fighter jet mode especially if it is dusty too

If you pull slightly on the corner with the logo and look between the the white shell and the black main body, you can see two small pegs extending from the shell into the body. They are about 1/8" long, if that. Carefully pull the shell back until those pins are fully exposed, and then you can slide the plate off toward the bottom of the system.
Lifting the top back corners of the case is the most important thing. There are plastic elements in there working like locks, that go into the console. Lifting them makes sliding off the plate very easy and smooth. I saw many youtube videos where someone was trying to slide off the plate with a lot of force and it was almost flying through the room at the end. If you'll lift the corner you can take off the plate practically with one finger. As long as the stand is removed.
Yup, hoping they will just start making PS5's with a quick release for that plate. I've broken so many plastic holder tabs on electronics over the years even after watching teardowns.

I was thinking the same thing
I simply lift the top left or top right of the console and slide it down. You only have to put like 7% of your strength to do it. Do what OP does. I also recommend once you unplug the console. Press the power button to see if it semi-turns on so it can fully turn off.
The PS5 has little dust catching pockets that should help keep the fan from getting PS4 level gummed up.
Just follow the official guide.
I have a EU disc version. My BR Drive plate goes down easily. My upper plate is stuck. There is no way to take it off - I'm afraid to break something. Watched the official teardown and numerous YT videos. No way to take it off.
You make it seem overly complicated. You just have to slightly lift the corner with the PS logo and it comes off very easy. Same for the back panel just lift the raised corner a bit.

The PS4 pro break down seemed so simple. My fat gorilla fingers thought it seemed so simple and and felt like I was breaking it. I’m not removing my case cause there’s no reason not to. That one guy did it ssd and it seemed so easy. I don’t care how aesthetically pleasing it is. I’m so afraid of breaking my console that I don’t care.
To add: I’m ducking stupid and it took me an hour to find my base screw. I don’t read manuals! Lol
I was terrified when I took the case off tbh, I watched the official tutorial by PlayStation but its all in Japanese so that's why I made this, to save people from the very confusion subtitles
It's simple, get a large flathead screwdriver, a good pair of gloves, a butchers apron, some ground pepper and a saw.
Throw all the other shite in a corner, pick up the saw and saw the cover off

That's the problem with YouTube. Everyone thinks they need to create their own content for views or stardom when there's already thousands of videos on whatever topic they're trying to cover that do it better, and without a bunch of horrible editing or commentary. That's my issue with 99% of Game reviews out there, or getting posted here.
Like, the PS5 vreakdown video shows how to clean it, replace the hard drive, or remove the panels. But we still have thousands of morons who made their own video for some reason, with the same redundant information, but with a catchy song or dumb effects added to it.
