Don’t Sleep On Verdun If You Like Realistic FPS

$10 right now.

For the price of a fast food meal this is a very realistic WW1 shooter from a small Dutch team. It originally released in a bad state on PS4 but they updated it with better graphics and performance.

One shot kills. Long reload times. Primarily trench warfare. Not for everyone, but it’s good fun for realism fans like me and a nice change of pace from Call Of Duty and Battlefield.

It’s multiplayer only and supports bots to fill out matches.

There’s a sister game called Tannenberg from the same devs that focuses less on trench warfare.

How's the population? I bought it at launch and had some fun with it but fell off when I couldn't regularly find full matches

The bots help AND they just added cross play with Xbox so evenings you get at least one full lobby. Weekends at least 80-100 people.

Bots. 1 shot kills. AND low population? Naaa

Thanks for the reply, I don't want to play with bots but it's cool that they added cross play - might check it out again. I'm looking forward to Hell Let Loose later this year, hopefully there will be a bigger community for that one.

Controls feel good? My problem with these games are when they are ported to console, they never feel as smooth as other shooters like Battlefield.

I might be the only person here who enjoys bot matches lmao. I wish all games had bot lobbies!

They feel like ass until you uncap your framerate and increase FOV.

Then it feels pretty great actually. Just beware that any player noticing you doing well will spam with you clan recruitment messages!

Can’t say I’ve had any issues. It’s not like a military simulation game where there’s a bunch of key binds they had to transfer over so it makes the transition pretty seamless. Much easier than something like PUBG. You do have to fiddle with the sensitivity at the start as it’s super low.

60fps ?

ID: gspdru3

Yes but you have to go into the menu and toggle off the 30 FPS cap.

Thank you

I really wish I would’ve seen that last night LOL

Haha. I was about to buy Verdun, then I saw they had the "WWI Bundle" for $13.99. Figured for $14 it's worth a shot.

How annoying are the one shot kills tho?

ID: gsp8tjf

Some are infuriating others it’s easy to recognize the mistake you made. I find it more addicting than anything. You respawn after 5-10 seconds.

Have you played Enlisted? If so how would you compare it?

ID: gspefpx

Not yet! From what I understand Enlisted had a squad mechanic where you can take over playing as others.

In Verdun time to kill is super quick and while there are squads of 4 one person is the captain and can give orders. Each of the 4 positions in the squad gives you access to a different role and affects what weapons you have, etc.

I picked up Enlisted a few weeks back and it's pretty good. TTK is super short as well. The Squad based mechanic is not bad, but it just means that there are 40 bots running around the map. There is a "lone wolf" mode where you play as a single squad member so it's all real players that is OK. Some of the play is clunky, but I had fun. The game looks amazing and the immersion with yelling, bombs exploding and gun fire everywhere is intense! It's $30 now but will be free in the future. I think it was worth it.

For $10 I'll definitely check out Verdun.

Enlisted is better imo. It’s been awhile since I played Verdun but it overall feels too rigid and dated. Plus WW1 combat doesn’t lend itself to as dynamic combat as WW2. It’s not a bad game though.

Seriously Enlisted takes everything Verdun does and does it better. Its one of my all time favorite FPS games right now. The atmosphere and authenticity is incredible, and I believe it's only $30. It'll be f2p soon though but you get an elite squad for buying the game.

Thats a lotta shit

damn you pay $10 for a meal from mccdonalds or something? culvers is where it's at. More filling and way better flavor for the money.

Also, them cheese curds.

Yeah, its not a bad game to get on sale. Usually play once a weekend and never have trouble getting a game.

ID: gsp8uok

You play Tannenberg as well?

ID: gspl2fi

Not yet, I plan on picking it up at some point.

Fair warning, I love this game but you’re lucky if there is one single full lobby. Maybe now with crossplay it might be better but it’ll just be like maybe a lobby and half. Sadly I’d call it dead.

Ww2 bot matches
