- Sony's London Studio Hiring for Brand New, Next-Gen IP for PS5
-
Probably related to Sony filing a trademark for 'Soho Engine' last year. Excited that it seems they are gonna be getting a shot at a AAA title based on the recent hirings and rumours.
-
Lmao the news cycle has been wild. One day Sony uses blockbuster games as a crutch, which is a hilarious statement, the next their taking risks that they apparently never take.
ID: gu2rrlgID: gu2rwvbGuy has as many bad takes as he does inside sources.
True true and for the record I said all the doom posting yesterday was pointless. We will eventually get DG sequel.
ID: gu3kj48Where in the Bloomberg article did it say anything about IPs? The article was critical of the fact that Sony is relying on third-person story driven action games and there’s no indication that this game is any different
-
But but sony does not take risks?
un originial IPS?????? :/
ID: gu29e83JIMRYANBAD amirite? /s
ID: gu2gmogDude legit gave what everyone kept bitching about Sony for years
their exclusives on PCand still is somehow greedy...
ID: gu2lhdoIt's just a remake of a game that's yet to release, find a new slant
ID: gu2pamxquite literally says new ps5 multiplayer game lmao
Given the games they have made previously, most likely a PSVR2 title
ID: gu2fv9pAre we sure it’s definitely a new IP? And not a remaster of the last of us remake?
ID: gu2iwacI mean it’s not like the dev team chose to make the remake on their own to try and prove something to Sony or anything like that. Helps to read
ID: gu2g0bhCould probably be a remake of the remaster of the remake of the tlou 1 remaster
-
Hopefully either an FPS or RPG. I know there’s action RPGs but Sony could due to buffer up those genres with some 1st party love.
I would love if the team gets big enough to resurrect The Getaway.
ID: gu33b9dI know dev location doesn't matter, but I really would like to see London get created in a proper GTA-esque game. Watch Dogs: Legion was so disappointing with little depth and the omission of the London Underground.
Can just imagine really exciting scenarios across the entirety of London. Committing a crime at one end of the city, escaping police on the underground then tensely hoping they don't catch you on the train and you can escape into a crowd.
ID: gu39jotGotta agree here. Sony once again sitting on a treasure trove of IPs.
ID: gu2ytmpNah bro get ready for another 3rd person cinematic action game with light RPG elements
ID: gu33a09I'm down for that
ID: gu3bksvThat’s pretty much what all WRPGs are nowadays. The choices almost never matter, and they’ve continued to be streamlined to more resemble action adventures.
-
Oh noes! Another potential triple-AAA Franchise from Sony! As a fan Im totally outraged!
/S
makingfunofstupidrecentheadlinesID: gu2q63iI for one cannot believe how stupid it is to attack sony for investing in IPs that sold their consoles lmao
*you telling me Xbox prioritzed Forza Horizon over Halo Infinite?*
-
Reading through the jobs these things stick out to me:
it’s AAA, so getting a fairly large budget from Sony it will have some form of multiplayer will have collision and destruction physics (so cars are involved?) pushing the limits of PS5 (which I don’t believe their previous games tried to) and the most interesting is... it should be compatible with DirectX 12. So maybe a simultaneous PC release? No idea if it’s going to be an FPS or third person game but personally I’d love Sony’s take on a sci-fi RPG.
EDIT: Seeing the studio last released Blood & Truth a first person shooter for PSVR, I wouldn’t be surprised if their next game is another FPS. The PC compatibility suggests to me it won’t be a VR game though (unless PSVR2 will work on PC).
ID: gu3jkubIt ring on DirectX12 is telling. I think PSVR2 is going to be compatible with PC. Supposedly PSVR1 can be hacked to have some amount of support anyway on PC, and PSVR2 is just one cable. I think Sony’s realised people will hack it in eventually and may as well roll with it. Very exciting stuff tbh
Edit: also means developing for PSVR2 should be much easier because devs can utilise OpenXR which streamlines VR development by being compatible consistently across platforms.
ID: gu3jpfvPsvr2 pc support would be an instant preorder from me!

I wonder where all the doomers are on this article?
ID: gu1y44fTrying to understand how much time this fake outrage will go on so they won't feel alone.
-
I need a Getaway so I can listen to Get Away, Getaway while playing Getaway on a getaway
ID: gu2eqr7Get away.
-
But Sony doesn't do new IPs... Oh wait, they do?
-
SOCOM VR!!!
-
But Jason said no risks anymore like new IPs, this can't be true. Returnal is also canceled since its not part of Schreiers vision of the future.
ID: gu1w0alThat is not what the Bloomberg article said, kiddo.
ID: gu1wia5That’s what people seemed to have taken away from it though. Although tbf most people don’t read the articles, they only need the headline and then they can extrapolate from there while picking up some tid bits from around Twitter.
ID: gu20p8oRead express‘s response. My post is missing a /s
And thnx for calling me a kid. I take this as a compliment in my age.
ID: gu2gdu2That's what the response to the article was though, kiddo.

ID: gu2gaqhStop letting the complainers live rent free in your head
ID: gu2d2neExcept he entirely misrepresented the direction Sony is going in and drew a bunch of conclusions because Sony didn't want a support studio to make a remake on their own
ID: gu2kl6pThese fanboys have gone crazy since that article, does sony pay them or something, lol
-
Please London Studio, please give me an fps. There hasn't been a first party fps in over 7 yeras.
ID: gu2kb66I can't think of any good story driven fps in recent years. If they can achieve far cry 3 levels of storytelling then they should definitely go for it.
-
Its gotta be a FPS, its the one big hole in thier lineup.
-
Despite what the article says this is almost certainly a PSVR title, either exclusively or also with flat play ability.
ID: gu28x59I'm not so sure about that. Their job listings don't mention VR anymore, and IIRC there were prior reports their next game will be a regular console title

And then it turns out it was just a TLOU Remake Remaster for PS5 Pro
ID: gu2dzm3What part of "new ip" don't you understand?
ID: gu2e5voI think you’re making it quite evident to me the importance of a “/s” right now lol
-
The Getaway The Getaway the Getaway
THE GETAWAY!!!!
-
Brand new IP.
-
Open world space game please
-
Am I the only one who would love to see “The Getaway” come back in full glory? I still remember that demo for the PS3 that never came through.
-
And the native Japanese from Japan studio have begun their migration from Japan to the UK Can't see why Sony couldn't give the contract to the studio already set up and ready to go in Japan? Backdoor promises?
-
lack of talent, unfit management, different company culture, etc
-
Because they’ve continued to not deliver anything great for over a decade in that structure.
-
Couldn't they just change management?
-
Whilst I agree I just think it’s sad when you look at the new studio a lot of them went to, bokeh studio, you see that they want to create a new horror game with unique art and to me I feel that would sell very well in the west if marketed properly
-
I’m guessing it’s a third-person-action-adventure-cinematic game.
-
You know most of Sony's games aren't that right?
-
What ones?
-
Hope this is a /s
-
New IPs are always welcome. I'm so tired of the sequels.
-
We been getting new ips left and right from Sony.......
-
Hopefully not another Vr project
-
Sony is missing a AAA VR game like Half life Alyx so I hope it's vr. Although rumours are that the studio isn't working on vr anymore.
-
Let me guess, a third-person action adventure game?

People need to stop eating up Jason’s shit like he is the God of the gaming industry.
Guy has as many bad takes as he does inside sources.
