Hi folks,
I've been working on PlayStationDB as a side project/labor of love for about six months now, and think it's ready to show you.
It's a database of PlayStation 5 games, including:
- confirmed release dates
- game sales across the PlayStation Store and major online retailers in the US and Australia, which you can sort by Metacritic score, and filter for digital sales only (for those of you with a Digital Edition console)
- PS5-specific details like graphics modes with resolution and FPS, and whether there's a free PS5 upgrade (here's an example for DIRT 5)
- trailers and other videos we've found on YouTube
- a wishlist feature for alerts on specific games
We also beta launched a stock alert bot for some Australian online retailers this week, which posts to our Twitter (@playstationdb). It caught the Digital Edition going on sale on Amazon, but missed the next drop of the disc edition due to our ISP going down across the state...I'm moving it to a server before next week.
I'd love to know what you think, and where you'd like to see us take this.
Also, if you're interested in writing news for us, shoot me a DM.
Cheers,
Tim

Much appreciated thanks

bookmarked, will def be using.
My immediate feedback on the ps5 game releases page
If you could put the game cover art/image under the name The video links dont work on that page. I am using google chrome on macID: gurc81oID: gurcyhsVideo links work now 🙂
ID: gurtw93I think even the store page images would be better than nothing that is on there. Definitely an amazing thing to have for the sales but the empty space that could have pics would make this easier on the eyes. Maybe even consider doing a grid similar to what the home page has so there's less scrolling involved to get more info 🙂

Cool, like where this could go. Will add it to my bookmarks. Location is wonky, thinks I'm in Australia.
ID: gur1vcqAh, it was defaulting to AU if we couldn't figure out where you are. A fix for that which defaults to the US is being pushed to production right now.

This is great! Definitely going to follow the site for more updates. Love the ability to drill down on sales!
-
Looks fantastic mate!
-
This is much needed! There's a lot of potential here, thanks for putting in the time
-
This is awesome and much appreciated! Thanks for the hard work!

I'd like to see games with PS5 patches added as well, and an option for "HDR Y/N".
ID: gurseicAnother site that’s similar to this is
www.backwards-compatible.com
They show performance for PS4, Pro, and PS5 if available (not all games are on there) as well as things like HDR
ID: gus33dtI’d love if backwards-compatible site expanded to show stats for all game consoles. It’s super useful for checking PS5 games, so much that I wish I could check stats on any game for any system.
-
Nice
-
This looks great! Initial feedback (on mobile using chrome) I’d love a search bar at the top to look up any game in the database
ID: guroakyAgreed. Will sort this ASAP.
-
Congratulations and all the best!
-
Does it have anything for if a game takes advantage of 3D Audio?
-
love the site! will definitely be using in the future. do you have a github repo/are you looking for anyone else to contribute or help out? this is exactly the sort of project I like to spend my free time on
ID: gusagsdIt’s closed source, but send me a DM.
-
Excellent thanks
-
Crazy that a fan website has better funcionality than the official site like getting info on what company actually developed the game (Sony store only lists publisher) or a fucking "search by tag/genre" function. The PS Store really sucks in my opinion, the discoverability of games is pretty much zero right now, you can't filter your results, you can't even sort for fuck sakes.
-
Videogamegeek.com will allow you to track all consoles.
-
Looks like there's a bug on detecting the region the user is in. I'm in the US and not using a VPN and the site says it looks I'm in Australia and asks if I want to switch regions. 😛
ID: gur2fhzThanks, should be sorted now!
-
The video links aren't working for me.
ID: gur5wn6Do you mind sending me a DM with some details about what device/OS/browser etc you're using so I can attempt to fix?

Hey guys does Dirt 5 worth 32$ for the Year 1 Edition of the game ? should i get it ?
ID: gurhbg3Purchased it like 10 days ago and in short it's fun. If you're into arcade racing games I'd say go for it. The visuals are great and there's plenty of content in the campaign section. The multiplayer part is lacking a bit though. For 32$, I'd say it's worth it.
ID: gurrvtvHow arcade is it compared to Forza Horizon bro ?
ID: gurhi71I played it on PC with a pretty bad PC so i had to lock the framerate at just 30fps with graphics on low, and i would say i had an ok time with it. Like a 6 to a 7 if im in a really good mood. I think the experience on PS5 would be way better than mine plus you get the cool Dualsense support. Its a pretty straight forward arcade racer, the career mode kinda gets boring by the end of it and the final races/events were pretty disappointing, i got that feeling of "That is it?". I don't know, maybe if it was $20 or less?
One thing i did not try is the splitscreen mode, that can be fun with friends if you are in the mood for that.
The aesthetics of the game and the way race tracks looks remind me of Sega Rally at times, so that is a plus =P
ID: gurkdomEach dlc they’ve added has a new 25 race career and multiple cars. It’s $32 right now for the year one edition which includes all DLCs or $24 for the base version
ID: gurkgj2In short, yes
-
Will you be adding European prices? Thanks.
ID: gurqjzkPlanning it, but as I'm handling online retailers as well there's quite a bit of work involved in adding new countries.
ID: gurrezsCool thanks man
-
When looking at the coming soon games, it shows most of them a day off from the actual release date. Are you going by Australia time? Maybe include North America / Europe as well?
ID: gusfcetThanks for the bug report, looking at a fix now.
ID: gusijo9Sorted. Thanks again.

This is awesome man! Are you using igdb as source or straight up web crawling?
ID: gurqd2pI wasn't aware of IGDB until you mentioned it. Game data is manually pulled together, pricing/sales stuff is all API/scraping.
ID: gursirbAh doing all that manually will eventually get impossible. Try implementing igdb, the api is really easy to use. Not sure if they have youtube videos info though.
-
Make one for Xbox! Oh never mind, it’d be blank
-
But why? Isn’t that what the store is for?

Trying to figure out how to solve this at the moment. I'm using the images from the PlayStation Store so I don't have images unless the game is out, or in the "coming soon" list which doesn't have everything that's actually coming soon.
A fix for this is going out to production now, should be live in a couple of minutes.
