Shaun Escayg (Creative Director of Marvel's Avengers) Has Left Crystal Dynamics And Returned To Naughty Dog

Given Shaun expertise, I think that this can very well mean that a new Uncharted game by Naughty Dog might be coming in the future.

Evan Wells was on Ted Price's podcast recently and Ted asked him how ND decides whether to make a sequel or make a new IP. Evan said that it really just comes down to what makes the team enthusiastic. So, an example he gave is that despite all the success that ND's had with Uncharted, he doesn't think that they'd really be that into it if they were working on Uncharted 6 or 7 right now. If ND were working on another Uncharted then it'd be the sixth one that they've made (obviously including TLL).
As far as things that we don't know about, i'd expect a new IP to be the next big thing we see from them. It seems like a good time now since it'll likely be a decade since their last new IP.

He also was creative director for Uncharted Lost Legacy. And lead story guy on Avengers. (The story was actually decent and the best part of the game)
I would not be shocked if he is part of a team making the next uncharted while TLOU2 team is working on something new

ID: gv3y33iConsidering he left Crystal Dynamics & immediately got his job (back) at Naughty Dog, I have to assume it has more to do with what Sony is offering rather than what fallout there might be due to the Avengers game.
Sony obviously has an interest in continuing the Uncharted series but the core creative team at ND is tied up working on a new IP so this might be ND hiring him on to be creative director on a new Uncharted game with a new team.

Just played Avengers for the first time today and honestly I wouldn’t want anyone involved in that game back in Naughty Dog.
“What should the first mission of our avengers game be??”
“Well fans will be excited to go right in and play as their favorite heroes so how about we have a long cringey intro of a little girl gushing about finding comics! Then we’ll meet some of the avengers and we’ll give them some trash dialogue!! Then when they finally get into the action it’ll be for a tutorial that over explains the game!!!”
ID: gv4vkroIts such a trash game, the protagonist is a hero that nobody asked for and after the film trilogy the game was such a letdown. No epic boss fights or enemies instead fighting the same crappy robots over an over again.
ID: gv4z5slI love Kamala Khan. I don’t think she was handled that well. In their defense, from a storytelling standpoint, it is good to have a character people can relate to. An Everyman that introduces you to or discovers the more fantastic elements of the story. That said, Avengers was just a terrible game.

tbf he did the single player campaign and hasn't really worked on any of the post launch stuff.
This is most likely a similar situation to Days Gone, where the director left shortly after Days Gone released but didn't announce it until 4 or 5 months later iirc
ID: gv42j24Games aren’t made by one person, if Neil Druckman joined 343i it doesn’t mean their next game will be a GOTY. The studio culture matters more than anything else.
Cory Barlog was at CD for a while but the team wasn’t ambitious enough for his taste so he came back to SSM.
ID: gv4cysaCory did play a critical part in the reboot of Tomb raider though. I feel like that game was pretty ambitious and Rise was great as well but Cory probably looks for God of War levels of ambition. He did say that CD did an amazing job on Rise of the tomb raider without him though.

Avengers does have it's fun points, but it doesn't strike me as very original or creative work. This doesn't feel like a big loss. Like if your spare tire goes flat. You weren't really using it in the first place.

Being a creative director doesn't necessarily mean being wildly creative. It's just about pulling everything together in a holistic way.

I'm really hoping to see a new IP from Naughty Dog. I love Uncharted and TLOU, but I want something new for their next game. IIRC, they were at one point thinking about doing some kind of Sci Fi game.
