Would love for it to happen, but it will never happen.

1) It’s too long of a game. Multiple sequels will have to be made which will cost a huge amount of investment dollars, time, and talent.

2) Its not a well known IP outside of its limited, yet ardent, fan base.

I can see a remastering of sorts. We see that with some older classics from time to time, but I just can’t see how feasible it would be for undertaking a total remake at that scale.

Honestly I’d settle for just a FFVII-IX style “remaster” with the speed up “cheats” and stuff. I don’t have a ps3 so I have to emulate it or hook my ps1 to the HD tv which looks terrible.

It would be a day 1 buy for me. I rarely.buy games on the first day. This would be an exception.

This game was the epitome of perfection in my childhood, every 3-4 years I boot up a new game and replay everything all over again, first time a game made me laugh, cry (Disc 1 ending), cringe and just sit back and be in awe of what was happening in front me........ it is the sole reason why to this day I still consecutively buy Sony products and support all their in-house studious with narrative driven games like God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, Ghost of Tsushima, Uncharted, Spiderman, Last of US and even games like Ape Escape.......

On release, the game didn't meet the financial expectation that Sony had set and the IP was left to collect dust, because the production budget was incredibly high and marketing for the game in the west didn't really reach people at the time........ there is a great opportunity for the game to be re-released now. Just look at the success of FF7 and if Sony doesn't want to do anything with the game then sell the IP.

The game was and is still a masterpiece, its elements and mechanics were so ahead of its time; from the incredible writing, the phenomenal lore, combat mechanics, dragoon transformation and the musical score that was nothing short of a masterpiece that left you in awe every time you visited a new location.

I genuinely think if Sony create a remaster to gage interests, or creates remake or a much needed prequel to the game to flesh the lore out even more by giving it more depth to its hard hitting themes, this game could be a once in a life time experience.

Oh my God I want this to be remade. This was one of the first games I've ever played and my first ever jrpg. I played through it last year and while the voice acting can be so bad it's hard not to laugh at it, I enjoyed myself from start to finish.

I tried playing this a couple times but never got very far, so I would be interested in a remake just because I think I would have an easier time getting into a modernized version of the game.

That being said, I have a hard time imagining Sony ever greenlighting such a project. Remaking a PS1 RPG with the fidelity of a PS5 game at the quality that people expect from Sony, has to be an extremely expensive endeavour that seems unlikely to pay off for anything that isn't huge like FF7.

It's not like Demon's Souls or SotC, where most of the core of the games could remain intact, instead the game would have to be reworked top to bottom.

Legend of Dragoon sold alright on PS1, from what we know, but I doubt it moved anywhere near enough units to motivate Sony to start remaking it.

1 million units. Pretty bad for a final fantasy killer

I had some orange demo disc and would play Legend of Dragoon on it all the time. Eventually I got full access to the game but don’t remember if I ever beat it.

I really want them to go back and reboot a lot of their JRPG catalog but unfortunately I doubt they'll ever touch them again 🙁

honestly that'd be cool, but I'd settle for an upscale and trophy support

15 : Anonymous2021/05/08 23:25 ID: gxfubrm

Never played it or heard about it on the PS1, but would gladly purchase this day 1 of they remade it

This is right up there with Vagrant Story for the two most wanted remakes I would love to see happen, Vagrant Story just edging it out a bit. Unfortunately I don't have high hopes either will happen after this long.

Over rated.

It would have my vote/wallet all the way.

19 : Anonymous2021/05/08 23:38 ID: gxfvq8e

100%

No. It will not ever happen. It only sold one million copies apparently, and considering it was supposed to compete with square and enix's sales figures that's just shit tbh lol. I've tried playing this game recently as a new player who never got to play the original due to never even knowing about it but personally that translation is so bad I'm not sure I'll ever play it again. It needs a proper localization because even the first villain seems like a sesame street villain with how goofily he speaks.
