Lol the invisible drops, never even showed in stock for me. Eastcoast

ID: gyu329k

EU here, got to add to cart by stalking the site and using the cart button script. Never got the option to add a CC number.

ID: gyu6zfc

i would recommend paypal its faster cos it fetches address and everything from paypal saving you a lot of clicks, which is very important cos stock go's away really fast.

the whole EU basically gets about 300 of the 6700 xt 6800 and 6900 xt which are the only 3 cards that dropped today.

ID: gyvs81p

Script works in the US too. It seems it's now the only way. Didn't used to be almost no one in us was using it

ID: gyu4mr2

The 6700 showed ATC for 20 minutes but neither 2 cards would add even using the ATC script.

ID: gyu6qsq

yeah its cos the shoping cart does not reveal it self cos amd.com backend fails to check stock, while thirdparty script can reveal shopping cart no problem and succesfully add it to cart at time of the drop.

ID: gywnpka

Shopping cart eh? Well it seems in 2021... You can have an item in your cart, take it to the checkout, and all of a sudden it's out of stock despite it being in your cart. Yeah newegg Amazon walmart every single fucking retailer. Big brain.

ID: gyx4mre

Not only that but the drops show up regionally. Someone on the east coast (US) can see ATC before west coast or vice versa.

AMD gives 0 shits about who buys their cards. This was proven by the 6700 XT

ID: gyv5lt4

And it bothers me when Nvidia pushes the narrative that they care about getting cards into the hands of gamers. When in reality they just care about money, too.

ID: gyvmjrz

At least Nvidia third-party manufacturers aren't price gouging too bad. AMD ones are going crazy. My local MC has 3060s, 3070s, etc. at reasonable prices (a little above MSRP) but the 6700XT is $950. And apparently that is a result of third party pricing.

I don't know how much credit/blame should go to Nvidia or AMD for this, it's just something I noticed. I would love a 6700XT, it would be perfect for my needs and budget, but it's impossible to justify buying at the AIB price.

ID: gyva23m

nvidia is worse, they sell directly to miners and gimp non-existant gaming cards so that you cant even recoup the price hikes by mining on the side. Nvidia is the worst offender but here people are pissed at amd for not having enough stocks during a global chip shortage, like wtf.

ID: gyx3ci4

That mining limiter is for the future generations of cards I think. They are just starting the trend now. Because, miners dumping the cards on the used market will make a dent in Nvidia's sales of 4000 gen cards.

And most importantly it's so that miners can't buy the gaming cards anymore.

But the flaw in all this is that all this process does nothing to prevent Nvidia from making more of the mining cards than gaming cards. Look how these both companies are selling cards directly to miners at a markup, while acting like they are trying hard to sell the cards to gamers and failing... LOL. All this virtue signalling BS. Eth mining is basically coming to the end anyways. So, what's the point of all this drama? It's for setting the trend for the future. That's my hypothesis anyways.

ID: gyutsfo

Truly wanting to know, what does AMD give shit to?

ID: gyv7kkr

$$$

ID: gyvb78v

What was different about the 6700 xt launch? When I got my 6800 xt order in on their website it took a whole week for it to be processed because they said each order was being looked at by a human.

4 : Anonymous2021/05/20 18:27 ID: gyup9f5

Is AMD.com the only place to pick up the RX 6800 and 6900 at MSRP?

ID: gyuq0w2

Yes. Also the only one of 2 manufacturers who hasn't announced a mining limiter on their cards.

ID: gyuzd8t

Putting a mining limit on these cards does nothing! Anyone mining can easily grab an old driver online and install it. Limits only work if you have it from the cards launch and don’t accidentally remove it in a driver like Nvidia did, meaning it was all a waste.

ID: gyvum0b

AMD has had mining limiters from the start by being horrible mining cards

ID: gyv7vvf

I got a 6800 from Best Buy and a 6900XT from Amazon. Both at msrp.

edit: why in the world am I being downvoted...? He asked a question and I gave an answer, I'm not trying to brag. Just stating what my experiences were. If you think I scalped one of the cards, I did not. I sold the 6800 to my brother for less than what I paid.

ID: gyw6htp

I got a 6800 at MSRP on the AMD website. People don’t like hearing it even if it’s just matter of fact that their available stock was higher than it has been (but demand is astronomical).

5 : Anonymous2021/05/20 22:09 ID: gyvjwe7

There's a reason Nvidia stopped offering their FE cards through Digital River and went with Best Buy instead.

They still may not be any easier to get, but at least Best Buy can actually process a transaction.

6 : Anonymous2021/05/20 15:45 ID: gyu245k
7 : Anonymous2021/05/20 21:01 ID: gyvaxuf

I got a RX6800 today!

ID: gyvbt38

Grats mate!

ID: gyxef0e

don't want to be this person but rejoice when it is actually shipped by digital river, until then nothing is really confirmed with them

8 : Anonymous2021/05/20 19:04 ID: gyuum49

After trying for 3 months I succeded to buy two cards (last week and today) for myself and a collegue (6900xt and 6800).

It’s a lot easier with the add to card script enabled. There are Discord channels which you can join to check the stocks of stores selling videocards and on thursdays they have an AMD drop voice chat. They annouce incoming drops with notifications (couple of minutes before the drop) and if someone yells “drop” in the voice chat, you press the button as fast as possible and pay with Paypal (make sure you are logged in on another tab). Of course you have to be lucky as well, but I hope this helps a bit to score a card on AMD.com.

ID: gyvcw52

I got one about a month ago on the AMD site. Paypal was completely busted and I still managed to get one with their CC payment page.

9 : Anonymous2021/05/20 15:52 ID: gyu317u

Checking the network requests it looks like the add to cart button is returning a page saying that the site is under maintenance right now, here's hoping that there might actually be a drop today.

ID: gyu3piv

There was a drop today, it's long gone now. generally 9:30pst 11:30est every thursday. If you don't get ATC buttons you need a script.

By the time the storefront shows availability for most people it's all long long gone.

10 : Anonymous2021/05/20 15:57 ID: gyu3ssy

Grabbed a 5900x. U.S. east coast.

I have discord bots. Auto refresh. And page scripts for adding to cart.

Not a single 6800xt to be had. Dunno wtf is going on with that.

ID: gyus527

Yields are good enough that most dies can go into 6900XTs as higher margin parts. 6800s are the most scarce even though they’ve been slightly more available recently

11 : Anonymous2021/05/20 18:26 ID: gyup48j

I got in to cart and checked out, got an error after I checked out.

12 : Anonymous2021/05/20 19:39 ID: gyuzm36

Try being in the UK bro they don’t ship it’s a load of wank

13 : Anonymous2021/05/20 19:52 ID: gyv1i6a

13th week since I'm trying, each and every Thursday, to drop a 6800XT. It's been the 3rd week without a single drop of this model. Starting to be pissed a bit about their politics.

ID: gyvexde

Yields are too good not to sell them as 6900xt

ID: gyvkzq9

Sure but that would make me change my PSU, how convenient.

ID: gyxe2e6

It's been 4 weeks here in the US. I've been counting because that's the one I've been aiming for RX 6800 XT primarily.

It's 2 weeks now and no RX 6900 XT, none this week and last week.

14 : Anonymous2021/05/20 19:58 ID: gyv2dn0

For me, that error was caused by the DuckDuckGo privacy extension for chrome. Try disabling it.

15 : Anonymous2021/05/20 22:09 ID: gyvjw4i

I got a 6900xt two weeks ago off the site. Live in Vermont. It is possible people!

16 : Anonymous2021/05/20 22:33 ID: gyvmypf

Click buses... no chimney... no stripes... no cars... what about some bicycle or semaphore? Sorry, no more stock now.

17 : Anonymous2021/05/20 23:16 ID: gyvs2xz

You are probably using Firefox or a browser with strict privacy/tracking policy. Amds website doesn’t like that. Bump it down a few

18 : Anonymous2021/05/21 06:25 ID: gywzhih

Us folks from the UK cannot buy from AMD directly which sucks. Before you ask why ? Read here

19 : Anonymous2021/05/20 20:07 ID: gyv3mbs

Y'know it's hard to be an AMD fanboy, it's okay nVidia fans shitting on AMD graphics cards and Intel fans shitting on AMD graphics cards and AMD fans shitting on AMD graphics cards, because freedom of speech and all that jazz, but when I can't buy the product I get irritated.

C'mon AMD, I want to give you my money! I have money, that I own, that I want to exchange for a 6800XT, you know, capitalism. Just find a way to let me give you my money, AMD.

ID: gyxes14

I actually succeeded in getting an RX 6800 once only for my order to get declined by digital river for no good reasons like they couldn't confirm the paypal information or something, somehow they are the only one in the world that have an issue with paypal checkout that they put in place themselves. So not only I gave them my money, they just gave it back to me just because. Now I luckily found a 3070 for just a bit more than the 6800 MSRP, not the best deal but I will take it. At the end of the day they don't care but it's one less sale and user for them that was already "won"... it just sounds stupid in a marketing point of view

ID: gyv8orl

Stop being a fanboy, it's stupid.

They are all large corporations driven entirely by greed. Get whatever is available and best for you.

20 : Anonymous2021/05/20 16:04 ID: gyu4tjx

UPDATE: at 18:00 CET, the add to cart button decides to show up. Obviously, there's fuck all left to buy in GPUs.

Judging buy how many show up on the very local 2nd hands site, I wouldn't be shocked if it's just etailers selling this stuff at scalper prices, to keep them from lowering prices on their own shit.

ID: gyulh7m

They can sit on their stock for as long as they want for those prices... Just don't buy from them and they won't do it again. Binding your whole liquid money in assets in a pandemic can lead to a fast end of a business.

ID: gyulq64

I'd love to see it slump past their purchase prices.
