B-b-b-buut…twitter engineers told me RDNA 1.1 …

Really? I read Series X is fully RDNA2 but PS5 has most but not all features. pS5 also has some customization that Series X GpU doesn't have supposedly. Seems like a wash between the two, performance-wise.

They both have the entire RDNA2 featureset. It was just disinformation people made up. Trying to bend a real observation, that the PS5 di is smaller(because less CU's), and that Sony at the time had not officially confirmed features so it must not have them, even though one of the features claimed to be cut was confirmed by an EA dev in late 2019, and the rest have been in actual games. Information that coincidentally came out after the TFlops arguments died down. Also, there was rumors that only MS had these features ready because of DX12 Ultimate because of an AMD partnership, as if this was an exclusive partnership. Sony and AMD worked together on RDNA2 hardware very closely for many years. It's no exclusive partnership, and funnily Sony had a patent on one of the software features that a MS patent had referenced, and again, disinformation said Sony didn't have this software developed at all.

If a client chooses to omit some non-core features of RDNA2 in their GPU solution it doesn't mean it's no longer RDNA2.

The core features of RDNA2 are its 40% boost per clock over GCN, significantly improved power efficiency per clock, and bespoke hardware for ray tracing. All of which the PS5 and Series X GPUs feature.

If we're going to go by the logic of "This GPU is missing X feature, so that means it's not RDNA2" then Series X isn't RDNA2, either. Because the Series X is missing the Infinity Cache of RDNA2.

My guess is that rdna2 uses some directx technologies but guess what directx is made by microsoft and ps5 can't use it so they had to make some substitutions or something. That's where the argument comes why there was arguing whether ps5 was rdna 1.5 or 2.5.

It's hilarious that Xbox fanboys keep saying XSX is the only console with RDNA2 while AMD keeps bragging about Playstation games showing what RDNA2 can do. lol

Console wars are yawn. I've got PS5, XSX, Switch and a gaming PC and love them all. Only children argue about platform specific tech. Look at the Switch, gutless power wise but home to some of the best games on the market.

Every platform has its pro's and con's, I'm happy playing everything on any platform.

My Rift Apart arrives tomorrow and I can't wait to play it. It looks pretty special as far as action platformers go.

That subtle flex though

Exactly, all this lil kids with the console wars, I also have everything you do. I'm so happy playing everything

It’s even funnier wen Sony Pony’s knocked Xbox last year when they said that the first two years of releases would be cross gen. But then, when Sony ended up doing the exact same thing (after they, too, mocked MS), fanboys rode to their rescue with lame arguments like “not everyone can afford a PS5”. And, “Sony would be stupid to ignore 100 million PS4 owners.”

The hypocrisy and blind brand loyalty is nauseating.

But Xbox fanboys said PS5 is only RDNA 1.5 and something about flops.......

I'm PRETTY, PREeettttyyYYY sure the masterminds at Insomniac have more to do with this then AMD.

Hardware is only as good as the developers......

Can't wait to see what Naughty Dog does when unleashed on the PS5.

My preference is in PC, but I find it hilarious when team Microsoft talk shit about hardware, but have no software. If you're going to talk shit to the other guys, at least have a stack of games to compete. Oh wait, you have to wait a few years before that happens. Sad.

I’ve never a played a single Ratchet and Clank despite gaming for nearly 30 years. This one has really got my interest though.

Same

What those mean?

ID: h1c52ql

It should mean nothing unless your sole purpose is to rant about it on Twitter.

Just play the quality games these developers release on your chosen platform. Which features the architecture allows for should barely concern most consumers.

Though I agree many Xbox fans deserve a custard pie in the face over RDNA 1.0, I'm still going to down vote because I'm tired of console wars.

Nice, can't wait for FidelityFX Super Resolution on PS5.

Anyone know when it will be available.
