Regardless of what it turns out to be, all the theories and people actually trying to figure it out is better marketing than any other game I can think of in recent memory. I wouldn't have been paying attention to this game at all otherwise. Given I had (and still have) no expectations there's no room for me to be disappointed.

They knew EXACTLY what they were doing with that S H tweet. Anything prior to that I can definitely wave away as unfortunate coincidences, but after that tweet it's in your face blatant what they're doing. If you're going to use Kojimas name for clout and gaining popularity then you also can deal with the blowback.

ID: h2gh0jqTo be fair though if it's actually coming from Hassan and Blue Box Studios they're not exactly a proven commodity and the little you can find of their existing work is pretty uninspiring (even the game's reveal trailer is pretty grim). Weird that Sony's given so much spotlight to a studio with so little to their name, but hey maybe they've found a diamond in the rough.

If it turned out to not be, I wouldn't even think about lashing out at anyone. That's just dumb.

Hey at least we are still getting a horror survival game whether its Silent hill/Kojima or not. Blue Box has said Abandoned is a placeholder name and that the game hasn't actually been shown so the trailer is basically fake. At this point im just interested in seeing what the game actually is.

The thing that makes me a believer is, this is a Sony backed project, right? They've got to have some degree of control over this thing so why would they let BlueBox stoke the PR fire if they knew it's not actually a Silent Hill/Kojima game?
Especially after the No Man's Sky/CP2077 fiascos you'd expect them to nip this in the bud pretty much immediately if that were the case.

I've been burnt too much on the whole "Silent Hill announcement is comming THIS time!" to believe it.
It's Kojima, and it wouldn't surprise me if it's either a) Death Stranding 2 (they have a custom game engine, might as well make another game using it!), b) the new Xbox game they're supposedly in cahoots with MS with (did people forget that one?) or c) another brand-new franchise.
Don't get me wrong! i'm ALL for a new SH game! I'm just tired of the wishful thinking and, as this jason guy puts it, experiencing the eventual disappointment.
EDITED: Have been corrected about the Xbox game, because apparently it was announced at some point via the PS Blog being a Sony game. thanks

If nothing comes out of it, I'll still give the studio some kudos, some of the clues they've left were pretty well made, some of my favorites being the personal training app and the silent hill 4 commercial numbers.

Nope. That got datamined right at the very start. They were certain there was an entire extra chapter, and that disarmament was one of the requirements to unlock that chapter. Disarmament was never the goal for them. It was just a necessary step.

I don’t want to be disappointed but the only thing that’s weird to me is Konami dropping new merch starting on Wednesday. It might just be a really crazy coincidence but it’s strange regardless if BB amounts to nothing but a random title.

That's always been my kinda take on this whole "Kojima doing Silent Hill" nonsense.
I mean, I get it, Silent Hills WAS susposed to have been a Kojima game, but if I was Sony, and had access to Kojima and a working negotiation with Konami for ONE of their franchises to make potentially exclusive to my platform... Silent Hill would NOT be the first on that list of existing popular Konami franchises I would attach to Kojima's name. >.>

I’m amazed that Schreier is who he is in the industry. Seems like he doesn’t have much inside info but that’s just me.
Whether this turns out to be a Silent Hill game or not, there is NO way anyone who has reviewed the material to this point has any doubt that this clearly points to a new entry or a remake within the Silent Hill franchise. If this isn’t, then “Blue Box” have become the biggest trolls of all time. Imo there is no other way to see this, I think this studio deserves all of the backlash it may get because they are essentially asking for it. They clearly know how this looks.
