Playing Spider-Man Remastered- this game is amazing and even better with performance RT turned on.

1 : Anonymous2021/06/24 03:20 ID: o6shjo

I played this game originally in 2018 on the PS4. Now playing it on the PS5 remastered, not only am I realizing again how amazing this game is, but the graphics are phenomenal. Honestly Miles Morales doesn’t come close to as good as this game, but I plan to replay that after I finish my replay of Spider-Man.

One thing I think they do a great job with is incentivizing the player to complete every challenge and side mission. For one they’re fun and two you need to to get weapon upgrades. Few games do I care about cosmetic stuff but this game I actually like the different suits, and they come with powers as well which gives the incentive to complete tasks to get them. Really wish more open world games were like this.

UPDATE: a lot of people are coming to bat to defend MM, and to be fair, I hadn’t played the 2018 Spider-Man since it game out on PS4 and I played MM in November, so my Memory of it isn’t good. I plan to replay MM after this and maybe that will change my mind.

Has anyone tried the Spiderbot Research Missions? The Spiderbot takes full advantage of the Dualsense Haptics and you can actually sense which surface it’s walking on and which leg is stepping forward when. It was an amazing feeling.

Agree! It was a very fun feeling

ID: h2w4djb

The new Ratchet & Clank does this also!

I played through it again for the NG+ trophies with the Garfield suit only, and holy wow what an upgrade. When I first played 2018 I played it on a small 1080p TV (the joys of dorm life) so getting to experience it again with all the 4K/60fps bells and whistles on a proper TV this time was a real treat. Plus, no load screens was NUTS. Sidenote, at least this game has the Chrysler Building, NY feels incomplete without it. Damn copyrights!

ID: h2uows3

HDR has been the real game changer for me with my PS5 since I upgraded my TV at the same time. Replaying god of war, uncharted 4, etc with HDR is such a difference

ID: h2uz7jw

Which tv did you get? I’m looking to upgrade mine too.

ID: h2urhmo

Amazing we live in a world now where 1080 P is considered roughing it dorm life.

ID: h2v5tnc

We're getting old Jesus Christ.

ID: h2v32p9

I remember a time where people talked shit about 4k saying it was uneccesary and our eyes can't see it etc. But I can very very very easily see the difference between 1080 and 4k in movies. But in games it's 100000x more noticeable

1080 looks soft AF but worst of all had tons of shimmering and aliasing, jagged edges etc. While 4k looks super sharp and has almost zero if not zero aliasing etc.

It's kinda why I am a little upset over the Res difference between moet ps5 and Xbox series X games tbh. Kinda debating if I should get a Xbox on the side.. anyway honestly I some 4k checkerboard games looks fantastic still and it's hard to see any difference between native 4k but with some games the lower Res plus bad alasing etc can ruin the image quality.

ID: h2urwrs

Lol yeah that Chrysler building thing, how do you copyright a building??

ID: h2usgb2

I mean if it’s owned by people, which it is, they have the say in what it’s in I guess. I really don’t understand the reason to not allow Insomniac to input it but I guess we’ll never know

ID: h2vc1gs

Wait they added the garfield suit? When?

I had a great time playing it. I Skipped the PS4 generation almost completely for Xbox. Got a PS5 and XSX this generation and I am really enjoying the PS4 exclusives that are updated for the PS5. Glad I didn’t experience them at 30fps etc and can experience them now at their best for the first time. It’s a stunning game and so much fun, and the story is excellent IMO.

ID: h2umwbx

Same but just with playstation

ID: h2v26hv

I had a PS4 last gen and played a lot of major exclusives. The one game I hadn't played was ghost of Tsushima. Honestly the game looked cool but something in me said it was a mediocre game. The last game from the studio I played was infamous second son and the stand alone DLC. those games were fun but had boring uninteresting stories and very very little to do. Although that was like super early PS4 era.

Boy was I wrong. Ghost of Tsushima is the first game in a long time that I 100% and I never got burned out. I 3ven ended up playing the multiplayer mode until I was level 80/90 (still want to go back and reach max level get the best gear etc)..

First time I played it on the hardest difficulty, Will play NG+ on the special difficulty that makes it so you die in one or two hits and the enemies too. That game in 60fps and 4k is absolutely insane. I hope suckerounch makes a second samurai game in mainland Japan maybe expands on thr clans and factions, shogun wars, maybe we can build our own castles and towns up and lead a whole bunch of men this time or we even start as a peasant child who lost his entire family and grows to become a soldier, samurai etc or even a ronin etc

ID: h2v2fkm

Ghost of Tsushima is on my backlog list to play!

God of War - Ready to go

The Last of Us Part II - Ready to go

Ghost of Tsushima - Ready to go

Ratchet and Clank - Ready to go

Days Gone - Ready to go

Death Stranding - PS5 Director’s Cut Announced

ID: h2v2kxf

I'd so play that... Ghost was SO GOOD

ID: h2v4uwz

Yeah I’m usually not a fan of sandbox games but god damn this game pulled me in. And legends was a blast, especially considering it was a free add on.

5 : Anonymous2021/06/24 04:33 ID: h2unzui

i just played it for the first time on my ps5. Really enjoyed it

6 : Anonymous2021/06/24 07:36 ID: h2v1ust

Honestly it's fucking ridiculous that Spiderman remastered isn't a free upgrade for Spiderman owners..

I enjoyed Spiderman. But by the end I was burned out and I'm just not into the game enough to get miles morales. I'd literally be only getting it to see the graphics.

I'd love to finish the last few Spiderman main missions and the last few map objectives etc if I had the remastered but as it stands now I am not interested

ID: h2v25eo

You know they did pay many employees to update the graphics, so there was a cost there, but given the fact that many many other devs have done free upgrades, and they have probably profited a lot off MM because of the original Spider-Man good will, despite putting out a game with much less content, they probably shouldn’t have been so greedy.

ID: h2vpayo

I would pay a reasonable price for the Spiderman upgrade, but just as a stand alone. I don't want to have to buy MM just for the upgrade.

7 : Anonymous2021/06/24 05:15 ID: h2urlvw

Yeah spider man remastered is amazing I can’t wait what marvel spider man 2 will look like for sure it looks a lot better then the remastered

8 : Anonymous2021/06/24 03:25 ID: h2uhkfx

I actually kind of enjoyed Miles better due to the less padding with side missions(backpack, bases, research stations, etc). Miles was a must better paced game to me. I also thought the change of the Peter model was an upgrade.

ID: h2v3kqq

I thought Miles extra zapping ability(forget the name) was awesome too. It added another really fun element to the combat

ID: h2v0yle

I loved the bases, mainly cause they focused on the stellar combat

ID: h2uhoer

Yes, I enjoyed Miles way mote because of its pacing

ID: h2ujgg2

Bases kinda got old by the end of the game, research missions are shit and one of the few bad things in the game, but I loved the backpacks haha

ID: h2us7f1

I really only disliked the backpacks, everything else was enjoyable. The taskmaster drones were a bit hard but it improves your web slinging. I’ve also found on my second play through that I’m being more creative with my tactics and realizing some really awesome ways to use the gadgets. My person fav now is to use the zero gravity gadget and then wait until the whole group hits the group, then use the web bomb and it webs them all to the floor defeating several enemies at once. The efficiency is addictive. Wish Gadgets regenerated faster.

ID: h2vq516

You can do a synergy with mods. One mod give you gadgets when doing finishers, another generates focus when using gadgets the last one could be increased focus generation. And for emergencies, use the suit power that gives focus. If you set it up like this you'll never run out of gadgets.

Miles Morales vs Spider-Man is a prime example of quality over quantity.

9 : Anonymous2021/06/24 06:44 ID: h2uye54

Man i cant wait to get a ps5 and play spiderman for the first time. I have a ps4 pro but im waiting on getting a ps5 before playing this

ID: h2uyq51

It will be worth it

10 : Anonymous2021/06/24 06:40 ID: h2uy2c6

Just give me Spiderverse starring Spidergwen for the third game using Ratchet and Clanks Rift tech. The ultimate spiderman game.

11 : Anonymous2021/06/24 03:31 ID: h2ui4dr

I prefer the 2018 game over Miles

ID: h2umoqs

The MJ and Peter missions were often a borefest though. Glad miles cut most of it out.

ID: h2usdf5

Agreed, but miles just feels like half a game and remastered is abundant with stuff to do that is all pretty much entertaining. Even if you’re your flying around picking up backpacks you’re still earning points towards a benchmark.

ID: h2up0xy

That’s like preferring Far Cry 5 over Far Cry New Dawn, I don’t think Insomniac would be surprised/embarrassed at this opinion, since it’s not trying to be anything better. MM is just a high quality but small game that we play before the real sequel.

ID: h2ukkou

Same

12 : Anonymous2021/06/24 06:44 ID: h2uye5x

I played Spider-Man almost to completion on PS4, but gave up near the end for two reasons: It's way too long, and I hated the stealth sections where you don't play as Spider-Man. I gave up on the game in the mission with Miles and the Rhino.

My PS5 came with Miles Morales and the the Spider-Man remaster. I restarted Spider-Man and finally managed to complete it by skipping almost every challenge and sidequests, which really helps with the pacing. (This is where we have very different opinions.)

I think both are great games, but Miles Morales has my preferences because it trimmed out the fat. No Mary Jane missions, a more focused story, and much better pacing.

ID: h2uyoyu

I agree the MJ missions are agony. And when it comes to the puzzles, because I’ve played it before I skip those, as well as most of the cut scenes. I also HATE anything involving FEAST.

ID: h2uyu3s

I kinda enjoyed the puzzles, but they were too easy, so I'll be skipping those on replays.

13 : Anonymous2021/06/24 13:36 ID: h2vtdhp

Every game that has ray tracing needs a Performance RT option man it’s a beautiful experience 60 FPS + ray tracing.

14 : Anonymous2021/06/24 14:16 ID: h2vy9pp

Pro tip for anyone still playing, you can enable burst fire for your web shooters in accessibility options (in addition to some other stuff) which will burst fire three webs instantly webbing enemies to walls / floors.

I basically beat the game before realizing this.

Also like to select instant puzzles for NG+.

15 : Anonymous2021/06/24 04:55 ID: h2upwnp

I played both, platinumed both, but enjoyed Miles more. To me the combat in Miles felt more like combat. I had to get up close and personal.

16 : Anonymous2021/06/24 04:49 ID: h2upevh

I think Miles Morales comes very close to Spider-Man but it’s definitely shorter that’s for sure

17 : Anonymous2021/06/24 06:34 ID: h2uxnkr

I just cannot stand the Screwball missions. Especially when you have to do some for suits. They are sooo annoying and I sighed hard when they were in Miles. I think the side missions as a whole were much improved in Miles but original is really solid.

18 : Anonymous2021/06/24 04:56 ID: h2uq11t

I've yet to replay the original for the ps5. I've just finished Miles Morales

19 : Anonymous2021/06/24 05:31 ID: h2usw79

I like the story of the original more, but I love the gameplay and animations of MM. Idk why, but I really like the flailing animations miles has. Makes you feel like he’s a beginner

Spider-Man on PS4 was held back by HDD on PS4 because of the loading time. I remember browsing reddit while it loads and it breaks the immersion. There were few games that were not upto the mark because of the load times, especially if you play on hard difficulty and die a lot. Spiderman and HZD are the perfect example. Both of these games were simply amazing and high load time was a road block. GoW and GoT had good load time even on PS4.
