If you have an Ryzen AMD processor you can enable fTPM in your bios to be eligible to upgrade to Windows 11. I had to get the latest BIOS update from Gigabyte for my Aorus Pro WIFI, go in Miscellaneous CPU settings and turn it on. I now pass Windows 11 health check.
This might vary based on your motherboard manufacturer.
-
I can confirm this.
I've just tested the Win 11 compatibility checker and failed. Rebooted into UEFI, enabled the AMD fTPM option, re-ran the Win 11 compat checker and voila! It now supports Win 11.
I tested this on a Ryzen 7 3700X mounted on an Aorus B450M with the latest BIOS update.
ID: h2wqwr2ID: h2x45acI have the b450 Aorus M and I found it under peripherals. Bear in mind I am running f50.
ID: h2wmc7dsame here.
asrock x570 phantom gaming x
ID: h2woenoI had two options in my asrock ab350m - one was AMD cpu and another. The AMD cpu option still provoked a fail. I'll have to try the other.
ID: h2womy7I had to update my asrock bios for mine to pass the check.

The option might be in a different name for laptop users. I have the Yoga Slim 7 from Lenovo with Ryzen 4800u, and the option I had to enable is called "AMD Platform Security Processor" to get the Windows 11 upgrade check to pass. Secure Boot has to be enabled too.
ID: h2wyizsT14s with 4750u here. Works for me with standard settings. My notebook seems to have everything enabled by default.
-
Yeah, I panicked a bit when Windows checker said it's not applicable for upgrade, but i was able to enable FTPM via Bios > Security and then Enabled FTPM on my MSI B450M Mortar Titanium, and now it recognizes as it's ready for upgrade. Can't wait for Windows 11 and soon take advantage of Auto HDR and DirectStorage.
ID: h2x4s9gdo you also have resizable bar enabled per chance?
ID: h2x6bcrYep. I enabled it along with FTPM, everything seems to work just fine as before.
-
In windows, you can type TPM in the search and get the all the info. If it's empty, it's not enabled
-
Any performance or application differences by enabling it?
ID: h2x4751Same question !
-
x570, 3900x, and just enabled fTPM. I don't have secure boot on but still passed.
-
Enabled fTPM and Secure boot and still failed the test. Anyone have any ideas? I have a 2700x and an ASRock X470 Taichi motherboard.
-
But why?
I have literally zero need for a TPM at all and all it does it cause headaches
ID: h2wvsg9You can ask Microsoft. Some are speculating that DRM on MS Store will use the TPM.
ID: h2wwe8iAnd i care about the microsoft store because?
See i'm fine with them locking me out of using the store if i don't have TPM enabled, i lose literally nothing
-
What is the name of the program that lets you take the Windows 11 health check?
ID: h2wj9cayou can find it here
. It's called PC Health Check -
Enabled AMD fTPM and my PC is now ready for the Windows 11 Insider Preview build. Thanks AMD for the fTPM.
-
Does fTPM stand for Firmware, as opposed to discrete?

Maybe a stupid question but will this affect performance ? like for gaming ? I have a 5600x and a 3080 for a reason so I wouldn't like to get some lowered perf because of a bios option
thanks in advance for any reply
ID: h2xfq0bNo - it has nothing to do with performance. Just google what TPM is about and you will understand.
-
I can't find this setting. I have Gigabyte B450M with Ryzen 3600. Can I get win 11?
ID: h2wm61dNevermind. got it.
ID: h2wqe2yWhere did you find the setting or what did you do? I have an Aorus B450 M and cant find the setting
-
I have FX 6300 and don't pass the test. Is there similar setting for me to change or I'm staying on 10?
ID: h2wournI don't believe FX supports fTPM. Only Ryzen processor. I might be wrong. Someone can correct me here.
ID: h2woypsWe'll see. Thank you
-
People are pleased about having DRM and even enabling it voluntarily?
And I thought drinking bleach against Covid-19 was stupid....
-
It’s times like these that I’m happy I switched to Linux. Never have to worry about my new hardware being incompatible because I didn’t enable a DRM feature on my motherboard.
-
F Windows 11!
ID: h2wwh3iprepare for disaster launch
ID: h2x0tpbI expect nothing less from MS
-
Thanks for the post.
Never have i been more glad to have switched to AMD a few months ago. -
What happens if you update your bios? Do you lose the key stored in fTPM?
-
What's TPM?
ID: h2x9rnfTrusted Platform Module - BitLocker uses it for hardware verification
If you encrypt a HDD and then swap it into another PC it won't let you access the drive
The fun begins when there's a firmware update and the drive thinks it's in a different PC but it isn't...
ID: h2x9xvkLol wtf is this shit, do they want to have nobody installing windows 11 or what?
-
Liters was wondering about this. Hoping it works on my Asrock b450 steel legend.
-
Im using a Crosshair VIII Hero and fail the test with discrete tpm enabled, will changing to firmware tpm change that?
ID: h2wln14there is only one way to know 🙂
ID: h2wphhgEnabling Firmware TPM worked. 🙂
-
I was very disappointed, then I found this. Thanks a lot! Enabled on MSI B450M Mortar + 5600X and now it shows I am compatible!
-
Do I need Secure Boot enabled to pass the test? I have Ryzen 1600, 16GB RAM, RX 580 8GB, fTPM module enabled - I do not pass the test.
ID: h2x9nj4Windows 11 does not support 1st gen Ryzen. Wait to see if they allow your chip or upgrade.
-
i am sure there'll be a workaround for that in any case
-
I enable that on my ryzen 5 1600 with b350 board and still not working...
-
it looks like as of right now. Ryzen 1 series is not supported.
-
dam its not that old...
-
Thank you for info. I will test IT tomorrow on ryzen 3 3200g.
-
I have enabled fTPM (Gigabyte B450 Aorus Pro) but I still don't pass the Windows 11 compatibility test. Tried updating to the latest F61 BIOS but still same result. Any idea what the issue might be?
-
Any idea what the issue might be?
Just Windows being Windows.
Hopefully MS won't artificially block installation on older hardware that meets all technical requirements. (Of course they will - they did it with Windows 10.)
-
The weird thing is that Windows itself detects that I have TPM and Secure Boot enabled with BIOS set to UEFI as seen in this screenshot but the compatibility check still fails. Welp, lets see if I would be able to install the darn thing xD
EDIT - Yeah its just one of those MS things. Here's a screenshot of a friend using the leaked Dev build (on metal) and the compatibility check still fails xDDDD
-
Witch CPU do you have¿
-
There are a whole lot of OEM machines out there without TPM, so I wonder if they might change their minds about it
Then again, if it forces everyone's work to buy a new Dell...
-
Windows 10 is supported till 2025 so any companies will phase out thr non compatible devices by them. I am sure oems have know about the requirements for the last year at least.
-
Thanks for this, I had no idea why I failed when I checked just now.
-
This works for me, thank you very much
-
Watch Tech Yes City latest video. It is a pain to having to do it but you don't need activate nothing in the BIOS to get it to work. Just follow his steps for Media Creation Tool + Win11 and you'll be have it up and running.

Asus ROG B450-F
All good here

idk if this helps you, but hope it does:

Windows must be in UEFI mode
And secure boot enabled with CSM disabled.
do what happens if you sell your pc or have to upgrade?
I dont know anything about fTMP
I don’t know enough about this but this sounds bad for people who dual boot win and Linux.
I've been using fTPM since I got the 3700X.
I also use bitlocker in all my windows installations and I also use some Linux hard disk encryption in an SSD where I install Ubuntu
It's good to know that fTPM will work with windows 11 instead of needing a hardware Tpm module
Can confirm , enabled fTPM in Bios and done 😀
It's pretty easy to bypass this TPM requirement
I enabled fTPM on my ASUS TUF B450M PRO-GAMING paired with a 5600X and it passed the check.
I went to update my BIOS after that since I was on an older version and it basically told me to backup my BitDefender or BitLocker key or something to that effect, otherwise the drive wouldn't boot and no data would be able to be recovered. I never had to set up any key or anything though. I just changed a BIOS setting from [disabled] to [enabled].
How / where would I find this key? I just ended up disabling fTPM from BIOS again and then updating and it worked just fine. Still pass the W11 check after enabling it again. The key seems pretty important to have though...

AMD
I also have the F60 Aorus B450M and can't find the fTPM option. Any tips where to find it?
