Puts you right into the game where you last saved. Wish more games did this
-
Sony said gamers just want to get into the action fast. I agree and love this function. I was disappointed that Ratchet and Clank doesn't do this.
ID: h3486hcID: h337migyeah, it has the resume activity card but still put you to the press start button screen, i hope they fix that and put you in the last save directly
ID: h33bcg6Don't get me wrong Ratched and Clank Rift Apart still loads up fast but would of been nice to skip straight to where we left off
ID: h34czdoHave you seen the start up wait for Jedi Fallen order? Even on PS5 natively it’s like a full minute of showing logos. It should be criminal at this point.
ID: h33goswYeah rachet takes at least 5 seconds to get into.
ID: h33ipv5How dare they make me wait 5 seconds
ID: h33qxybIt is very fast. But why have a short cut to boot up in game, that only opens the menu?
ID: h340kneLiterally unplayable
-
Most the first party games do that!! Such an underrated feature i wish more people started using
ID: h331y4sWhich ones have you seen?
ID: h3331ynAstro, spiderman and miles morales. Returnal too i think, didnt try ratchet but im guessing it works too
ID: h33mtlnGuilty Gear Strive uses the cards, I use it to open training mode and skip the menus
ID: h3480q3Resident Evil Village does it
ID: h35m372I’m surprised Fortnite messed it up. They were really promoting Fortnite on PS5 with the PS5 menu music, times-exclusive environmental features, etc…
They have activity cards for different game modes, yet you basically are just loading up the game normally.

How good is the game?
Really tempted by the new version as I put 5 hours into the ps4 one and quite liked it.
ID: h337f56Same game, runs better. If you liked it then you really can't go wrong.
That being said, might have to double dip and that always kinda sucks no matter the upgrade.
ID: h34o8aaIt’s a free upgrade unless you only had it on PS4 through PS+. Which was my case so I had to buy it but meh, super worth it for the 60fps.
ID: h33wpewIt was my game of the year last year.
ID: h3649lxSame here! Fantastic game.
ID: h33txt4Awesome game. Cant go wrong with it really
ID: h33lvdxhey at least you aren't like me who beat the game and then had his PS4 HDD get corrupted and lost it all 😀
ID: h35po9vI’ve played it through 3 times and played the dlc and I just want more honestly. The combat is perfect, my favourite of any game. Also I mean it’s nostalgic as fuck since I loved ff7 back in the day
-
Resident Evil Village is very fast. You can simply press x twice when the start screen appears. It puts you immediately in the Campaign.
-
Yeah its the first game I actually used it for it was pretty cool
-
Think I'm going to finish my playthrough tomorrow. Glad I skipped playing it on the base PS4. Feels like it was made for PS5.
ID: h33acj8Excellent decision. Wish I had your patience. It’s so fun to play. Different but stands alone as a great product.
ID: h33k6uqI finished it for the first time on Thursday. It’s one of the best games I’ve ever played, can’t wait for part 2. In Graphics mode the in-engine cinematics give Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart’s a run for their money.
ID: h339o1mThe only thing that has pulled me out of the immersion is the bird's eye view of the Sector 5 slums in that mission where you are on the plate. It looks like they put a low quality jpeg file below you and it's so distracting.
ID: h33cl70When you climb the tower the low quality JPG background is really visible too.
ID: h33bfhkI thought that too. The slums below looks bad.

Sometimes the cards doesnt show up for me.
Is it a bug or is there something i have to do to make them show up?
-
Why is the landlady so mean to me??
ID: h33f0nlShe's just lookin out for Tifa!
ID: h34boeqShe's making sure Cloud is good enough for Tifa. Don't blame her Tifa probably gets nonstop stalkers and dude going after her.
ID: h33fu4mCuz you threw handle at her

I got the ps plus version of ff7 on PS4, if I buy a disc intergrade for ps5 will it still have the same save on it?
ID: h342s03Yes just look at your cloud to confirm
ID: h34isekYou need to upload the save from the ps4 version and download it in the ps5 version.
-
The card system has honestly not gotten the attention it deserves, imo. In Spider-Man and demon souls it’s great!
-
I'm really surprised Ratchet & Clank doesn't do this!
-
But you skip the legendary menu screen? It's worth the extra clicks with that music!
-
They really need a standardized way to see all the cards, maybe there is and I'm dumb but sometimes they just don't show up for me in the PS menu thing.
-
PS5 could do with quick resume feature. Pretty amazing on Series X. Hope comes in a future update?
-
So does it work in a similar manner to Xbox quick resume? That’s cool. I like the feature but it’s buggy. Hopefully Sony somehow updates the switcher feature to do this often though.
ID: h333cfsI dont think it works with the switcher, just when you go to home page while a game is running/put the console on standby mode,
ID: h334bp8There's some pros and cons to each.
Xbox Quick Resume let's you resume the game at the moment you left off, and can be used with BC games. Cons are that it takes disk space to use, and if the game has some sort of internet connectivity you will have to reconnect which may not really save time (think PS4 rest mode in something like MHW, you'll have to reconnect which means a loading screen).
PS5 Activity Cards can let you resume from your latest save or even boot directly to something else and bypass main menu, and don't require disk space. Cons are that it requires developer implementation and can only be used for PS5 games (so no PS4 games).ID: h33gl42What are the activity cards? I feel a little lost in this thread as I’m new to consoles and thoughts quick resume was simply after putting the ps5 in test mode while playing.
ID: h33pqyrThink your comment is misleading. Quick resume does not take any usable ssd space from the user. The game state is stored in the RAM. The storage is already accounted in the OS storage and system files.
So Xbox is 1TB, Usable space is 802GB. So the 198GB is used for the system os which includes anything reserved for quick resume.
In comparison PS5 has 825GB SSD with 667GB usable space with 158GB used up by system os and files.
Also don’t think anyone is expecting to quick resume online games because that is self explanatory but you still bypass the logo’s etc so can be still quicker than starting it normally.
Quick resume you can change into multiple games bypassing any menu’s etc so wasn’t sure what you mean when you mentioned bypassing menu’s..
I have both consoles and have used activity cards. Also have used quick resume and it is far superior. Easily one of the best system os features that Xbox has over PlayStation.
ID: h337b7rBasically PS5 cards is a very, very restricted version of Quick Resume and it doesn’t even work for all PS5 games.
It’s really no comparison. When quick resume works, it’s great. PS5 cards are just so, so limited in use.

To be fair though, ratchet and clank loads in literally 2 seconds when you select your save. The first time it happened I exited and did it again to make sure it was actually that fast.
I counted and you can go from selecting the game on the ps5 home screen to actually playing the game in less than 10 seconds.
