- Free Demo For Square Enix's NEO: The World Ends With You is Now Available

They need to add a demo section on ps store for ps5 like how it was for the ps4.
ID: h31h3tqID: h32amxxI came into this thread and wanted to ask if anyone knew where it was or if there was one, I was looking for it the other day.
ID: h33loxmHow do you find a demo? I accidentally stumbled on PES yesterday which was just called new soccer's game or something.
ID: h379zlbDon’t get it confused for pes 2022, it was a port of a mobile game just for testing connection
ID: h3627whA lot of demos have been time locked and expire this Gen.. really fucking annoying
ID: h31i3uxDefinitely, I actually had to go to the full version of the game and then navigate to the demo, it wasn't even available earlier today when you used the search
-
Thank you SE for all the demos recently. Definitely a trend I can get behind
ID: h30wlzbNot SE, but without the Scarlet Nexus demo I definitely wouldn't have pre-ordered it. Wasn't even sold on it so I might never have even gotten it. They put out a demo out though and I got to try it and had enough fun where I put a pre-order in. I hope more companies jump on board with demo's.
ID: h3123imOutriders teaches the hard way that even a demo shouldn't be trusted for pre-orders.
ID: h34rfu8Funny, that demo is what totally turned me off of it. I really appreciate the chance to play games that way, but it can definitely backfire in cases.
ID: h37aosiHow is scarlet nexus. I've heard up and down with reviews. Might wait for sale
ID: h32295hI was the opposite, interested until playing the demo. But it just wasn't my kind of gameplay and I'm happy not to have spent the money

This game had always piqued my interest. Here’s hoping the demo delivers some more hype on the series.
-
Anime just finished today too. Great timing.
ID: h323xo1Woooah hold on there, there's a WEWY anime!? What service?
ID: h326wubIt's streaming on Hulu.
ID: h334579I watched it on Funimation.

You confusing me. Aren’t all demos free? I mean, who would pay for a demo ha!
ID: h31fk17The betas that some games offer are basically the same as demos in most cases and they are often behind a pay wall of some kind (preorder the game, buy an early bird package or register on a website for a chance to get entry) and while there are ways around most of those requirements "free demo" just tells everyone that you can just download it from the store. So while I get your point, I don't mind the "free".

How is it? Does it live up to the hype?
ID: h31c8nzThis comment on /
says that it's really solid on a technical level, and they also talk about PS4/5 performance, which is also good.EDIT: Just got done playing it myself on PS5. In my opinion, I thought it was really good. Graphics wise it's not great on a strict polygon count (I assume because it had to run on Switch, and they didn't have the budget or bandwidth to do special PS4 graphics), but the frame rate was smooth the entire time, and it felt super responsive. Plus, the art style does a lot to make up for the low poly models. (Although whether or not you think the artstyle is good is up to personal taste.)
On the non technical side, I really enjoyed what was shown in the demo. The demo covers the first two days of the game, which is a little over an hour. I liked the characters so far, and it was great seeing Sho return so early in the story. The combat feels way different than the any version of the first TWEWY, but it's similar in that it's mostly about finding the right rhythm to get into with your attacks. I was already impressed with the combat system, and it's only scratching the surface in the demo.
As someone who's been wanting a sequel to The World Ends with You for almost a decade, I gotta say that I'm very satisfied with what we've been shown so far. Hopefully the rest of the game is able to deliver.
ID: h337wy5What's the resolution? It's definitely not 4k, but it looks a lot better than any Switch game on my tv.
ID: h323iqqI think its kind funny no one answered this guy's question. I kinda want to know too

Never heard of the game/series before and I felt just as confused as the characters, which I guess is a good thing for the sake of immersion that it threw me in the deep end with just as many questions as the protagonists themselves were asking.
Liked most of what I saw, still kind of confused and on the fence about the combat though. I wasn't sure if I was supposed to just be button mashing or if there was more nuance to it. Didn't quite understand the combo/groove thing. Then again I'm more of a Turnbased JRPG gamer (literally didn't know what system this was going to use until the first battle..) so maybe it will just take a little getting used to.
Loved the music throughout too, will be keeping my eye on this one. Glad demos are becoming somewhat more frequent again.
ID: h33fpmcDidn't quite understand the combo/groove thing
All pins have a certain combo and each combo have a finsher that makes the groove meter appear , for example the sword pin has a three combo with finisher at end. You aren't supppsed to mash the button but timing each pins finisher to another pin startup.
Idk if that make more sense for ya.
ID: h33g0ndThat actually helps, thanks. I think I was just hitting a handful of the 'square' ranged shots and interchanging them with sword slashes now and then, before moving onto the the R1 ram once the others were on cooldown. Don't think I was syncing anything up very well.
I guess I should have taken a proper look at the Pin page in the menu to see the combos and specifics.
ID: h33ve6vThey made an anime out of the first game if you want to catch up, it's on Hulu and Funimation.

Also, this demo allows you to transfer your data to the game when you get it. Love it when games allow that.
-
I had always wanted to try the first one so I got this demo. I couldn’t get far in it though because the canera in the city didn’t rotate and I kept looking at the map trying to walk here or there but it was too awkward. Kind of gave up on it. I think I’m too used to a better camera.
-
Got really hyped up for this one but after playing about 1h of this demo, I could not get into. Imo it feels more childish than my taste (I cant remember it was like this in DS) and fighting is… well, not really my taste.
Will finish the demo anyway to see if story has more to sell but characters are not that good. Definitely not buying before a serious price drop.
-
pretty cool
-
Performance wise it feels fine, but it doesn't really remind me of the original on the DS. I'll probably still end up getting it, but when it's cheap. Although this is making me want to break out the DS and play a bit to see if I'm just remembering the game wrong
-
it's for the PS4 version though
ID: h31gjz6the game is for ps4
-
the wording "free demo" makes me really uncomfortable

Played the demo and I actually enjoyed most aspects of it. Just the combat feels a bit weird, smooth, but like a button masher, atleast on normal ? There probably is some depth to it but I didn't really see anything of it in the first two chapters in normal.
The rest was pretty cool tho, story, soundtrack, chars, artstyle. Not sure I want to get it for full price but seems like a good game to get in a sale for ~30€.
Haven't played the first one (and didn't seem like I have to since the story seems to be kind of standalone?) May check out the anime or some recap on YouTube if I do pick up the full game.
Anyways,i hope they continue to release demos in the future because this game wouldn't be in my radar whitout a demo.
ID: h3250atIf you want combat that isn't a button masher, you could try the ds version. Is used both the top and bottom screen, and you control two characters at once (or leave top to auto fight). Bottom screen you use the stylus to draw out different motions to use the psychs you slot.
Not everyone has a DS/3ds, but it is well known for its funky combat. Don't know how well the switch port carried that over
ID: h368c37I think it's on Android/ios as well.

does the save data transfer only work with digital versions or does it not matter?
ID: h343u04It doesn’t matter.
ID: h36j1f6thank you

Man, shit like this really makes no actual contribution to discussion of the game. Why even come to the post? Do something else instead of bitching on a game you clearly weren't that interested in.
-
i absolutely LOVE how offended weeaboos get when anyone says anything negative about their beloved chinese cartoons
-
This game desperately wants to be Persona 5 in terms of style
More like persona 5 wanted to be original the world ends with you seems as came out 10 years before persona 5..
-
hell if i know i don't like this anime nonsense

100%. The playstation store is snappy, but it's a real pain in the ass to navigate.
