looks about right

Interesting how NH-D15 would differ

In theory the temps should stay the same but the clocks could go up.

I mean, you ran small data, so the load on the cpu is not real world load. 90s for that is not bad.

I will try to run large data set. But anyway, idle temp looks too high

Are you running PBO and Curve optimizer?

Stock CPU

At the least use CO. Curve Optimizer is pretty great. I've got a 5800x as well.

Are your Temps at IDLE?

ID: h5229ld

Left temps are current idle. Just checked again, 50/40/48°C ±5 at idle

ID: h5232gl

Hmmm not sure how hot your room is? But, seems kinda high for IDLE temps.

For example, I have 10700k, which is OC @ 5.2ghz on all cores. BUT, I do have a 280mm AIO, so that maybe can do something.

I am at IDLE at 31c, for gaming I don't get higher than 58c. Using Arctic Silver 5 as my paste.

Thanks for the stats. I seem of late to be fixated on thermal numbers.

I am not surprised by the high idle temperatures as Ryzen seem to dislike having nothing or little to do. At first I was concerned about my 5950x 37°C idle average and the spikes from low loads. After lots of research I realize that it is typical of the Ryzen design to preload an abundance of power when at lower usage to be prepared for heavy load on demand.

What CPU fan would be better on your opinion? Or maybe liquid cooling is a requirement to keep it between 70-80°C at high load?

ID: h52609d

An AIO is what I use. My case only allows a cooler with a 53mm height. That would more than likely be inadequate for a 5950x.

Which AIO is all dependent on you case specification.

Case: Fractal Design Meshify 2 Compact

Motherboard: Gigabyte X570 Aorus Master rev.1.2

Front fans: 3x120mm Noctua NF-P12-1300

Rear fan: 120mm Noctua NF-P12-1300

Top fans: 2x140mm Noctua NF-A14 ULN

Program: OCCT 8.2.5 (small data set, normal mode, steady load type)

You might want to try removing the front top fan if it's set to exhaust (or just disconnecting it). If it's in front of the CPU heatsink it might be stealing cold air from the front intake.

I tried using two top fans in my 500DX and it ended up raising the max CPU temperature by 2°C.

But your theory is really interesting, I will try

ID: h52ybh2

That's what I have

Your idle temps look a tad too high for such a cooler.

I have a much more feeble and worse air cooler and my 5800X hovers around 37C (room temperature 24C). I have zero case coolers.

ID: h52lt2c

Those idle temps are in line with mine.

ID: h52j13u

I guess I need to investigate my temperatures, they should be lower
