PS5 Wall Mount and cooling + charger

1 : Anonymous2021/07/24 03:17 ID: oqhwvt

Looking to mount my ps5 to my cabinet because its too big to fit (in Ikea kallax).

I also want to put it on one of those cooling fan / controller charger pads.

Anybody done this or have ideas?

Thanks!

Unless your ps5 is placed in a particularly hot area then there is absolutely no need to have a cooling station. It won’t give better performance and 90% of its design was to keep it cool

Cheap cooling stations—if they’re anything like those made for laptops—are a waste of money anyway. Just focus on ventilation, let the device’s fans do their job as designed.

The remaining 10% is where they neglected to cool half of the memory at all?

Oh I’m sorry…. Have you had a overheating problem yet

Definitely keep the PS5 in an open area to keep cool. I moved my PS5 to the living room one weekend so I could play on a bigger screen and I closed it in my TV stand with the other wires and devices plugged in down there. I played DOOM ETERNAL for like an hour and a half and felt heat from the stand. I opened it up and it felt like an oven lmao.

I moved it immediately back into my office and it has stayed cool. Point being, KEEP IT COOL

I don’t know about mounting it in a cabinet, but this is a great wall mount if that’s an option.

And here’s one for the charger:

Uhhh... I mean... I'm sure it's okay, but that mount appears to hold the PS5 only by one of the plastic covers, which is itself only held on by plastic clips and puts the entire weight of the console on that?

EDIT: I'm a dumbo and I didn't notice it screws into the PS5 body where the stand holds it normally so that's a lot better. Carry on!

It also screws in on the bottom

It uses the M3 screw at the bottom.

Hideit make the best mounts for all the consoles. This one included.

External cooling systems are not necessary and are actually more likely to do harm than good.

I would stay well away from the the cooling stands, some of them actually blow air into the PS5!

Here’s a YouTube video showing how bad they can be

Remove the middle board of a Kallax compartment and use a Kallax divider inlay at the bottom. The PS5 will fit perfectly on top of that Inlay and you can use the bottom space for the Dualsense charging station or similar.

Might as well BBQ your console if you're gonna add one of those crap "coolers" to it. All they do it prevent airflow. The PS5 is extremely good at cooling, no 3rd party item will make it better

You’re gonna shoe-horn a PS5 into a Kallax? Dude I have that shelving unit, I struggled to get a fat PS3 in there for display. Even my old PS2 is tight in it.
Have you got the back open at least for airflow ?

No no way too big! Gonna Mount it on the side.

I don’t know if this helps, but I have a small cabinet space - I could feel heat collecting above. Ordered these small cooling fans on Amazon for $15 and stacked them adjacent to my PS5 and they work amazingly to keep cool airflow in that space. Cooling Fans

I plugged them into a USB on my console and placed the setting to power USB devices for 3 hours after it’s turned off. You barely hear them.

I’ve mounted my PS5 to the wall and it is great. It has straps that just hold it in place.

I was moving house so we. Made sure our new TV unit fitted it.

However my. Reason for replying was that I actually got mine to fit in the ikea kallax by taking the plates off and placing it on an angled cooling matt for two months before we moved.

Is it the big one? If so you can also saw the middle part off keep doors on you'll never know it will then fit

There's an idea if you are strapped for space like I was

Oh that's actually a great idea, like cut the back part of the center frame. I'll take a look!

Best thing is to give the ps5 room on all sides. You’ll never have an overheat problem.

So my wife bought me a cooling/ charging stand for my PS5 for father's day . I'm really a PS fanboy and perfectly enjoyed using the oem version, nor was looking to buy one. That being said, its used very often and appreciate her buying it . I own 3 controllers, one has back paddles and doesn't charge on the PS Dock due to the paddles so it charges easiest on the stand.. also having extra USB ports to keep my 2 headphones sets charging and still being able to use all my USB slots on my PS5 for headsets and ssd because it uses my USB c slot

I live in Hawaii and my place is regularly what you might describe as "hot as balls". Without using an solutions, my router would occasionally throttle, PS4Pro would just go jet engine mode and still roast itself alive, etc. I bought a couple AC Infinity fans to put in the cabinet and everything has been happy for a while. Best cheap and quiet option I have found. Just make sure the fans are arranged to pull the heat away/out of the cabinet, don't position them to blow air in.

Oh that's an interesting option, maybe if its for that much air around it the cooling fans aren't necessary?

I'm so glad to see people in here wising up - the cooling fans aren't just "not necessary", they're a con.
