For reference all their ads will say maccas and the golden arches no longer say mcdonalds on them and just have a blank spot under them.

The brand logo and the promotional nature of the McDonalds event. They are legally obliged to clear it with Sony or come to some agreed partnership. According to the press release, McDonalds failed to do both.
