After the disaster that was Cyberpunk on consoles, I prefer studios to delay their games in a GOOD and playable state rather than the opposite

We're over a year into a global virus pandemic. That's just one of many very relevant reasons why none of these delays should be a surprise.

Some people (not you) act like nothing in the world should change or be negatively impacted by that...

I mean, I'm aware of that, but where have I implied that I'm surprised by this situation?

Gaming has been delayed until 2022.

I do feel for Sony. They presumably spent YEARS planning on late 2021 being fucking packed with GoW, Horizon, Ghostwire Tokyo, GT, and others I’m probably forgetting, only for delays outside of their control to absolutely wreck their schedule. Their lack of transparency is completely fair game for criticism, but at least I believe they had every intention of this year being incredible. Plus I think the fervor about the big ones being crossgen would have been much more calm had they come out as scheduled.

Same. I was mostly being facetious here. This year was slated to arguably being one if the best years in gaming. Between a pandemic and people having to work from home, it's to be expected to slow down development at times. Best case scenario is these games are even more polished and better when they do release.

ID: h8k3k8r

Oh no the major corporation has to delay it’s games by a year, oh the horror!

4 : Anonymous2021/08/11 22:06 ID: h8l6x4x

Jesus Christ would they stop announcing games so early

5 : Anonymous2021/08/11 17:35 ID: h8k3q5i

Remastered version looks like shit anyway, they should just cancel it

ID: h8k6kn3

Yeah I barely notice a difference. I just played Before the Storm and the trailer looked just like that to me, visually. Not going to bother buying this.

ID: h8kecsh

The trailer might've been an early build of the game or something. The screenshots that were uploaded to the LiS website later on looked better.

6 : Anonymous2021/08/11 17:17 ID: h8k14iq

Oh no! Anyway...

7 : Anonymous2021/08/11 17:21 ID: h8k1sk8

Yuuup keep em coming guys! No game is safe. the only games i actually believe will come out on the release day they set are Battlefield and COD, plus the yearly sports games

8 : Anonymous2021/08/11 19:59 ID: h8koqnb

2022 is set to be the greatest year ever for gaming.

ID: h8kyrsi

Just you wait for the delays in 2022 to 2023.

9 : Anonymous2021/08/11 17:20 ID: h8k1kp8

Then Ill delay my purchase aswell as I want to play the remaster first.

10 : Anonymous2021/08/11 22:54 ID: h8ldff5

One fucking thing I was looking forward to.

11 : Anonymous2021/08/11 23:33 ID: h8lilav

Oh no what a shame /s

No, this trend of delaying games is fucking unacceptable now. That's 34 games delays this year so far. 2019 saw 9 game delays total, 2020 I think there were sub 15 delays but since cyberpunk there have been nearly 40 game delays?!

It's bullshit, because the most highly anticipated game of the decade delayed 3 times, it now seems to be the norm and everyone is happy to accept delays.

People need to get out of this culture of "oh well with what happened to Cyberpunk I'm glad they are delaying to make the game better".

No, it's not okay and developers need to manage their time and expectations better and stop giving out release dates if they aren't confident they can fulfil that commitment. I do not support delays and I'm actually quite sick of them and how okay and normal they are now.

Edit: for those calling me kid and seem to think I don't have a leg to stand on, I am an animator and know what the industry is like and what is required, and in my opinion, in our career, working from home has little to no effect on what work we are able to do. Some are even more productive from home. Even weekly in-person meetings which can be greatly beneficial aren't really a factor when you can have a zoom meeting and share your screen with everyone on what you've been doing.

I mist admit, I do think being in the office around colleagues and seeing what they are working on and getting inspiration from them is really beneficial, but Covid honestly does not have as big of an impact on the gaming industry as people think. At least not from a dev aspect.

ID: h8kn2yf

You not heard of covid? Do you have a job and know what people's working lives have been affected by lockdowns?

Shit happens, you'll get your viddy games eventually kid.

They can't just make the game happen sooner. Delays happen because they must.

ID: h8lb8bv

It's really not even that new to COVID, games like TW3 or RDR2 were both delayed multiple times without COVID. It's just how the video game industry is.

ID: h8l8c8f

It's not about the lack of games and what there is or isn't available to play, it's about the normalising of delaying games and how troubling this is going forward. You obviously seem really upset or outraged by my unpopular opinion so I'm sorry to offend you and hope you have a better day.

ID: h8khusq

We’ve been in a pandemic for well over a year. What do you honestly expect?

ID: h8lgqnp

It's just video games, calm down.

ID: h8lkn60

Funny copypasta lol

ID: h8l3egp

Relax, dude. The world isn’t a vacuum. There are other games to play while you wait.
