So, is Ubisoft ever going to unlock the frame rate on their older Assassin's Creed games?

3 : Anonymous2021/08/11 14:51 ID: h8jghk2

So 20+ hours for me then. Sounds good.

It is interesting how much content a Ubisoft dlc can have. They're practically full games in of themselves.

That's because they basically are. Other studios work on them like they would a whole new game.

Yeah, it probably is pretty easy if you can reuse some of the assets, and all the gameplay framework is laid out. The downside is, they can be more repetitive than buying a new game. You really should only be buying Ubisoft DLC is you know you love the game and absolutely want more of it. That applies for most dlc but still.

I mean look at what cd project red did in terms of dlc for the Witcher 3 wild hunt. They easily added 50 hours of gameplay to their already nearly 100 hours of base game.

You can see why they’re going the live service route for all future games.

In a few years we’re going to have to download a dedicated Assassins Creed launcher on top of uplay soon.

When Halo Infinite was first revealed, it sort of sounded like that too. They even said something like 'the basis for the next ten years of Halo games'

Game franchises will just be a dedicated launcher and you'll buy parts and bits of it (like the Halo MCC)

This seems to be a mediocre to okay-ish DLC. From all the reviews unfortunately.

So exactly what I expected given its Valhalla...

8-10 hours seems like a blessing to me but it depends on how much of that is repetition.

ID: h8jej98

I mean all of Ubisoft games have a decent completion length, but we all know there is a lot of repetition involved. If only ubisoft added more systemic elements that makes gameplay more dynamic to help with repetition.

It's stands at 75 on opencritic which I would consider as good ("strong" according to opencritic themselves).

Thank fuck I didn’t budge when it was on sale last week. So mediocre.

I bailed after about 50h, which I know is a lot...but I spent most of that time waiting for it to be compelling and it never really was.

This is probably only if you skip quests and things that aren’t related to trophies and also skip cutscenes right? I like to take things slow, watch all cutscenes, explore the full map and do side stuff that isn’t related to trophies so this estimate will be a lot higher for me and not necessarily a true indication of how large the DLC is for people.

I remember when were outraged about PowerPyx’s guide for Rift Apart with the time to 100% saying it is too short and not worth the price…but that didn’t include watching all cutscenes, all the content in the battle arena and collecting all the golden bolts.

Yeahh it said 10hrs to get platinum in Rift Apart, it is technically true, but it is only when the game is completely rushed. It took me 18hrs to platinum. But they were pretty clear about Rift Apart platinum and told that they rushed the game and didn't complete all the challanges.

Currently playing rift apart and im playing as slow as possible, i dont want it to end!

ID: h8k0f4d

Well it took me 18 hours to finish it twice (normal and challenge mode) and get the platinum. It’s a very short game but that’s true of most ratchet and clank games. Easily a 10 hour or less for a single play through, it just so happens that the platinum is very easy and barely requires more than a single play though.

Do people still skip cutscenes? Especially something so narrative heavy as Assassin’s Creed?

7 : Anonymous2021/08/11 14:57 ID: h8jh9fz

It’s definitely not 8-10 for 100% completion. Maybe if you rush the campaign. But why would someone do that in an open world game?

8 : Anonymous2021/08/11 14:30 ID: h8jdisn

Eh, isn’t that what they said about Druids? It took me a bit longer than that just to play around. Maybe if I went from mission to mission and didn’t stop to get supplies or build my outposts to level my merchant and trade for all the outfits and weapons.

I didn’t even explore a lot of the very north or the western coast like at all either. By then the story was speeding up and I wanted to see where it was going. It was meh. I just don’t like taking breaks in between missions when there is something urgent happening in universe. Except for saving Sigurd. Fuck Sigurd. I was about to mount the attacks to save him and I’m just like nah, fuck that. I’mma go raid Paris first. Just like I went to Ireland…

That’s good dlc

ID: h8kxxw4

I doubt it

More likely “free x area” 1hr Free y area 1hr Collect all collectibles 6-7+hrs 15min quest Optional skin purchases with RL cash

I enjoyed Valhalla except for its length like most people. I'm happy to go back for 8 to 10 hours in a new place though! It's odd being excited about the short length of a game/DLC when it's usually the opposite!

Wow good thing too the base game was too short
