- Performance summary: Radeon RX 6600 XT vs Radeon RX 5700 XT at 1080p, 1440p, and 4K
-
$400 for a 1080p card.
ID: h8gbjz9ID: h8gulrcWait till you see how much an rx580 costs
ID: h8hjzcllol good luck finding this anywhere near $400
ID: h8he8d9400? Good luck buying at this price. 600 more likely
-
I’m seeing a lot of acrimony and bullshit going around here about AMD’s marketing and 1440p, etc. here…
I ran a 5700 XT until this year with a 1440p/144 Hz monitor, and it ran every title I threw at it on high settings at 1440p just fine.
ID: h8jdrxfsame with my 5700xt
ID: h8k2kfuI just commented this glad it isn’t only me. In 18 months we went from wow these cards perform amazing for $500, to wow this card sucks for $400. Makes no sense
-
Probably the infinity cache hit rate
ID: h8g8ikxIt is.
I have no doubt.
-
Reminder this GPU is roughly the same size as Navi 10/5700XT.
This is a complete fucking dud of a product and the asking price is an insult.
ID: h8izpk8Yeah pretty much. I am sitting tight with my 5700XT at this point.
ID: h8i9b0tUhm, so has the asking price of every gpu for the past 6 months?
Nvidia re-released the 3080 for £500 over its asking price (Ti my ass, its a mild OC).
Amd are doing what any business would do in a sellers market.
ID: h8ixa8wAmd are doing what any business would do in a sellers market
Yeah, people are mad because AMD probably won't decrease their prices, now that they got the chance to raise them. 400$ for a mid tier card may become the norm because of this.
ID: h8igiknThat's weird I could have sworn the 3080 ti actually has lower clock speeds than the 3080 due to it's 1500 more cores.
-
5700xt was prolly a gem of card. People who bought it in 2019 made an excellent choice.
ID: h8gpymm5700xt was prolly a gem of card.
It wasn't even that great, it just had a big lead on Nvidia in terms of process technology. It was still surprisingly inefficient and only looked good thanks to Turing being so crap.
It was still a 251mm² GPU being sold for $400+. Nothing to celebrate at all.

Barely 2x the performance of the RX 480, for 2x the price, after 3 years; that's just sad.
-
I know I am on the AMD subreddit, but man, the RTX 3060ti is a better value. When the hell did Nvidia do that? (on paper, at least, because the chip shortage and inflated prices are still here)
ID: h8gvv3jGeForce RTX 3060 Ti is selling for >$800 right now
ID: h8h4zq7https://www.alternate.de/ZOTAC/GeForce-RTX-3060-Ti-TWIN-EDGE-OC-LHR-Grafikkarte/html/product/1758204659€ including tax around here, for the cheapest model I found on this website. Still much too expensive. Not even double the performance of a 1070 and costing almost 50% more at release and using 33% more wattage and that 5 years later. The current power usage is as disappointing as the pricing.
ID: h8ibr18Do you expect this to get at msrp? You dreaming boy?
ID: h8h1a5cThis might help
for buying GPUs right nowID: h8ifja9MSRP is completely irrelevant in the current times it shouldnt be used to comapre cards. Look at real prices
ID: h8ikq8gTrue, but real prices differ at least on a weekly basis and I don't have time to check every single week the prices of products I do not buy(got lucky I got mine in 2019)
-
Yeah, 380 (without tax) for this. I rather keep my 970.
-
There is a performance hit at 4K, but I guess not too many people are going to buy the Radeon RX 6600 XT to play at 4K anyway.
ID: h8gqbq8Compared to Ampere, it starts to fall away hard at 1440p already.
-
I got a 5700XT 2yrs ago for 329 new... this is just the same card for more money
-
This card is Entry Level @1440p / High FPS @1080p...
You cant really advertise it as 1440p when it will run at that resolution, just fine... But at medium+ settings.
The controversy of "$400 for 1080p card" is dumb cause this is not a normal market. I mean, look at the charts again! Its neck n neck with a damn 2080!!! Didnt Jensen stick it to the fanboi base with 2080 at $700 ? Like 2 years ago ?
Somethings are true though. AMD is being very capitalistic right now. They know ANYTHING will sellout, now till the end of the year, For Sure! This card could have been better made to own the midrange market. AND yes, AMD was suppose to be the go to budget option. But again, they're capitalists... And again, ANYTHING will sell out in this market.
-
Eh. An almost $400 with 8GB in 2021. 6700xt/6800/xt are the cards to buy.
ID: h8gfvdqTo be fair, AMD is heavily marketing it towards 1080p only.
-
6900XT it is then!
-
Really glad I picked a rx5700xt 1 year ago when everyone was saying to wait for the new gpus to come out.
-
People spamming 1080p but my 2070 super runs everything on 1440p high settings except flight sim 2020 so they’re just spoiled brats
-
its a cheaply made rx 5700xt at basically the same price 2 years after the rx 5700xt released..... if somebody doesnt see an issue with this they have a problem
-
All that while it costs more, performs marginally better and barely breaks the 30 MH/s mark on ETH while the 5700XT casually does 55-58 MH/s. This card would be DOA if it wasn’t for the shortage.
-
I recently got a 4k monitor for my 5700xt to display on and I was like hmm lets see if it's possible to get 60fps across all games on this card. Yeah no problem according to a lot of reviewers and benchmark videos. But to hear that a next gen card that is suppose to be excellent value vs my card, this is terrible. And the worst part is that gaming is progressively going to higher and higher resolutions. Where 1440p is becoming average recently and 4k becoming reachable to newer gpu's.
-
This thing should cost $225 at most. These prices are a joke.
-
I don't know why you are getting downvoted.
580x has half the performance and it's msrp was $200 and that was released in 2016...
So twice the performance of a 5 year old card and you pay more than twice the price.
-
I should be Jeff Bezos, but I am not.
-
Yo where the fuck is the 1080 ti on this chart
-
Remove a few percentages from the 2080 cards and you have the 1080Ti.
-
Somewhere in the vicinity of the 2070 Super
-
It's not going to gradually go up, that's such a myth. Yes it might gain a few percent, but it's never going to magically turn it into a good value card.
-
Because they are at about the same price point. 6600xt is $100 more expensive then 5600xt. TLDR: Same performance at the same price 2 years later.
-
Since AMD doesn't sell a reference model 6600 XT the MSRP is irrelevant
Would a 200 MSRP made a difference if OEMS would have been let to price it at 400+ ?
-
Meh! Same performance for the same price as the 5700xt.
-
I would have gone for this if it had a pcie x16. Now i would have to buy a 3060 or 3060ti
-
This card makes the 3060ti look good. Can't wait for the market to normalize.
-
The 3060 ti from what I’ve read is a good card, if only it was sold for under £400 (retailers are selling it for over £600).
I’m hoping with RDNA 3, AMD can catch up in the RT department. The next iteration of GPUs coming out next year should be interesting, though I suspect they will be overpriced as well 🙁 I am reluctant to spend over £400 on a graphics card.
For now, I just bought a nitro+ 6600 XT for under £400 (incl. delivery). Hoping this should keep me going at 1080p until I do a new build in the future (probably with a new GPU, CPU and motherboard, and I suspect new DDR5 ram as well).
I’m replacing a old 7870XT GPU that I bought in 2013.
-
GeForce RTX 3060 Ti is >$800 right now
-
Is 1080p bad
-
If both cards were widely available at msrp, you would have to be insane to choose the 6600xt over the 3060ti for 99% of builds. Sadly we don't live in a world where any gpu is widely available at msrp.
It's a mediocre card with an asking price at least 75% higher than justified by its hardware by pre shortage standards. I can't guess how that shakes out value wise in the current market, but it doesn't look or feel good as a gamer who would like to buy a couple cards to replace obsolete machines without being ripped off.
-
Why does it scale so poorly above 1080p?
-
What do you mean?
It's fine at 1440p.
-
I mean it goes from ahead of 3060 at 1080 to roughly equal at 1440 to behind the 3060 at 4k
-
Lack of memory bandwidth and an infinity cache too small to compensate.
-
Right now for 1080p gaming, the Xbox Series S for $250--300 is the sweet spot. With Game Pass you get access to tons of games (OK you are renting them not owning them). Yes, you won't get access to games from other PC platforms like Steam, Epic, Ubisoft or Gog. But it's got most of the popular stuff. I'd consider it as a stopgap solution if I was desperate. The desktop market is dead as a Dodo.
-
Bought an RX 5700XT for around 390 euros when it first came out, built a 1500 euros system that today would probably cost around 4000 euros. Best purchase of my life, couldn't have asked for a better card. While it's 3440p performance is quite lacking, it's still an amazing card which can hit 60fps on most games on ultra-very High settings
-
looks like ima stick to my 5700xt for a year or more waiting to upgrade for cheap
-
Here I am trying to upgrade my 5700xt to something better at msrp... Shame on me. Plus, I got my 5700xt new for 345$. Ohhh on 1440p uw, 144hz... Is the reason I want to upgrade. Hate fan noise so wanter more power to have a quiet GPU.
I have accepted I will be using this card for a long time and playing older back catalog games. I have money but I am not spending much more than MSRP...3080ti excluded.
-
Have you tried undervolting it? My card never gets above 70° while the fans are basically silent.
-
Yes, I have a terrible chip, and the card is poor thermally xfx thicc...when I do it I usually get the odd crash and not worth it.
-
Hot take here but honestly I think people are throwing way too much hate on the price. nvidia cards are nowhere near MSRP but the 6600xt at least where I am actually is. In the UK if you want to spend £380 you can have a 1660 super or for another £50 a 2060. The 6600xt is outperforming both.
AMD kinda initially shot themselves by not being upfront about prices because imo this is looking like a gem in the current market.
-
Wow, I really need to sell my 5700xt and get a 6600xt right now!
-
I don't understand a word they say, but this channel shows some msi afterburner info while gaming:
-
ITT: People complaining about MSRP during a pandemic where 5 year old Polaris cards are selling for twice their original MSRP. Bunch of geniuses
-
$400 for that
Lol just lol
Ill buy a GPU next year or two years
