Wait until they realize that most players get flamed by their team
ID: hgjsdbh -
You had the option to toggle /all chat on or off, wasn't that enough?
ID: hgjhibiIt probably should have been off by default with the option to enable so the casual players who are recreationally offended would have assumed it was disabled
EDIT
That’s literally how all chat in league works…
well then I don't understand why they're removing /allchat altogether then, that makes this even more stupid
ID: hgjiyl4Literally how it worked..
ID: hgjib0pThat’s literally how all chat in league works…
ID: hgji7jvIt is off by default, I never bothered to turn it on as there is nothing I need to say to the opposing team, I am in the game to play not type messages to people.
ID: hgjn76cEven some riot employees disagree with the decision. The department at riot who manages toxicity is just utterly useless
-
This is like those times where a few kids would act up in class and so the teacher would just punish everyone. That logic never made sense to me
ID: hgjfhh4Not to mention most toxic chat is team chat (by a mile)...
ID: hgjosn4Teachers are limited in the amount and kind of corporeal punishment they can inflict on troublemakers. Other kids are not. When an authority figure punishes the group for the individual, it's that they expect peer pressure and retaliatory violence to be an effective coercive tool.
ID: hgjpfabSo, it promote toxic behavior and bullying?
-
"It's just not gaming without the ability to spew toxic vomit all over other people!" -Gamers
ID: hgjfr70Except all that toxic vomit is still there. It always came from teammates, not enemies.
ID: hgjohqyYea except all the toxicity is from your own team not the enemy, ive friended more people from the enemy team than i have ever had good interactions with on my team.
-
Overwatch and R6 are next
ID: hgjm78wOverwhat?
-
Surprised people here even care about league
ID: hgjnfagThat's what I thought, hasn't that game been toxic for over ten years?
ID: hgjg326It's more a conversation about the solution to toxicity proposed than the game itself
There is a broader conversation going on about what to do combat the "problem"
I think there just needs to be auto-mute enabled by default so that players who say certain things, they get muted by other players automatically, so they can't disrupt games as easily but also leaves open communication available to everyone else
This would solve the problem for both enemy and team chat
ID: hgji51dThat sounds like a nightmare system to create and implement without triggering a fuck ton of false flags.
-
I only play Battlefield 5 online these days. I'd never miss the chat.
-
Looks like all the toxic players are upset about this lol
-
HAHAHA now they can only be toxic to their team. That won't stop anything.
-
Why is this pathetic?
ID: hgjgprcA few reasons:
1) it limits interactions between players who are not toxic
2) it doesn’t even solve the problem as most people will agree the toxicity is from teammates not the enemy team
3) it’s avoiding dealing with the issue rather than actually dealing with it
4) there is already a mute all option, why not just make it more accessible rather than taking options away from people
5) they are finally admitting they have one of the most toxic player bases, something they have denied for years and their solution is to just go “I don’t want to deal with it!”
ID: hgjca75Because toxicity is way worst when it comes from your own team and this doesn't do anything about it.
I haven't played LoL in years, but back then, the only toxicity that affected the game was always coming from someone on the team.
Toxic player flames the worst player of the team, worst player of the team get triggered and they get even worst because they start arguing instead of playing, the whole team lose.
Banning /all chat is totally useless against toxicity.
-
Heroes of the Storm has never had all chat, and I’m now realizing how truly idiotic that is.
-
That’s joke is fuckin hilarious
-
Why is this the answer for people, it's such an odd childish mentality. Yeah some people suck, but why take communication away entirely? It just makes games depressing and keeps people from meeting others.
ID: hgjcxwyAgreed! I've met so many cool people in dota on my enemy teams as well.
-
I hope this is satire. A mute button exists for a reason.
-
This is a non-solution to a real problem, people are frustrated with the game, the problem is the game, not other people spewing shit on them, normally in this game you harass teammates not enemies, so this fixes nothing, it's like putting a filter on your sink, when the water that comes out of the street is muddy, you just get "clean" water on the sink but the problem of a broken pipe on the street still exists, problem is, league is shit, and people still haven't realized they hate it.
-
The ability to turn all chat off has always been there.
Plus the physiological effect of “trash talk” is major part of all competitive sports. Removing that softens the game and the players involved. Which helps no one in the long run, in fact it accomplishes the opposite .
This is a horrible move by riot imo. It’s blatantly the most low effort move they could have made to try and garner some good PR for what is hailed as one of the most toxic games. But the funny part is the toxicity comes from your TEAMMATES 99% of the time. Not the opponent.
-
Ehhh from my experience with league I'd rather this. Getting called slurs all the time makes the game a whole lot less fun, weirdly enough
ID: hgjh463There is a mute button… just make it more noticeable or have an option before getting in game to mute all.
ID: hgji1hki think players should by default, have an option to auto-mute players who use particular toxic words
this would solve the problem for both all chat and team chat, which the current solution LOL is using doesn't address
ID: hgjcj83Now you can get called slurs by your team only. If you think this will stop toxicity you're blind. I played dota for years and valve tried mutes and that didn't stop anything.
ID: hgjflz0I’ve played 500 games this season, can’t remember a single time I’ve been called a slur
ID: hgjgtspI think its a regional issue tbh
ID: hgjnzdmYou and 99% of players. It happens, but it's really not as big an issue as some whiny professional victims want you to believe.
And those rare times it's easily handled by tools readily available to a player. Mute, report, some games even allow you to avoid the shithead.
-
thats half the fun
-
Eh, if it's anything like it was when I played League this is probably a decent idea.
-
Dota stays winning
ID: hgjhmagThere are dozens of us.
-
Nothing is gained from all chat so removing it hurts nothing. I don’t see the big deal
-
Funny, 75% of the time the issue is team. It might spill over into All but usually starts by team
-
WE HAVE TO PROTECT OUR SNOWFLAKES !!!
-
I've only ever been chat banned/banned because of reports from team chat, not all chat ... LMAO
-
World of Tanks also did this a few years (?) back. Absolute shit move in my eyes, just like this here action

As someone who got banned several times, I can confirm.
