EA is like a grindhouse for developers where careers go to die.
They've churned through so many people, now they lack the ability to actually iterate on their games, so this is it - it's turtles all the way down. Long live FIFA.

You're forgetting just one factor: EA looks really damn good on a resume. Most developers never get to work AAA, and they don't stay at one company for very long either.

Of course! Any employee who can fall into the corporate line and do what they're told en-masse is every hiring-managers dream, but can you actually deliver?
There's a whole tier of middle-managers crawling into the IT industry, both in software and otherwise, who don't have a clue about tech, yet are given these people-management roles where they're responsible for wrangling cats who otherwise just need to know what the goal is, in order to work towards it.

As someone who has played every from 14 to 21 I can say that it definitely isn’t the same game each year. Is it a scam? Yes. Does the game somehow get worse each year? Yes. Is EA an awful company? Yes. Same game each year? No. I feel like the only people that say it’s the same each year probably haven’t played it a lot, but the difference between, for example, fifa 17 and fifa 21 is surprisingly large.

Shh! You can't have a reasonable opinion here! Been playing from 2002 until now, the game does change(notice I didn't say improve, haha) from year to year, some better, some worse.

I don’t think it is. When people that actually play fifa complain, then that’s what they’re talking about, but when others complain it’s usually like a “it’s still football so it’s the same game” kind of argument.

The saddest part about everyone giving EA crap for just rebranding the game. The gamers that keep buying the rebranded game are to blame as much as EA in some ways. If no one bought it because it's the same old game they would not make it or they would make changes to entice people to upgrade.

First time I haven’t bought the new FIFA in 7 years. No regrets.
The problem is even if you’re a casual fan, it’s nice to play with updated rosters. Plus the online volume dies pretty fast once a new edition is released.

Well it has the same career bug with shirt number if you ever leave your starting team. I don't even own FIFA 22 but searching for the problem with FIFA 21 showed me bug reports about it.

Someone needs to start protesting the unnecessary use of plastics when a 'new' FIFA comes out and is sold in the various physical formats. Fuck that, all new FIFAs should be paid software updates, all they do is lightly build on the previous title anyway.
