- The curse of game launchers...
That 'Remember me' checkbox is a lying sack of shit.ID: hjz4cc6
Minecraft logs me out every second time I play.ID: hjzpn0x
stop playing twice and start playing every third time. loophole.ID: hjzcugy
Came to say this. Fucking thing has never worked for me.
And I have 2FA set up, so I have to go through that shit almost everytime as wellID: hjzly27
Why would they ever log me out? I'm the only one that uses my computer. Gmail keeps me logged in longer than a stupid game launcher and it's a million times more private than my stupid ubisoft account.
And then you have to reset your password because you forgotID: hjxyswo
and then it's like "you've already used this password"...ID: hjy6yy8
Let's add a 1 to the end...."You've already used this password" Okay...time for trusty number 2!ID: hjzb4hf
This happened to me recently.Forgot my password. Ask to reset my password. Error: "You cannot use your existing password." Never mind, I know my password now.ID: hjz250c
Every site should tell you what their username and password requirements are when logging in.
I usually have a general idea what I would have used but can never remember what sites do and do not require symbols and if they do what specific symbols they allow.ID: hjzc31m
It's so much less annoying to let a password manager handle it imo. I haven't had issues with all those annoying requirements after switching (other than one site which I don't remember rn).ID: hjyhema
Origin’s is probably the worst. Not only do I have to sign in the once a year that I need to play an EA game, it always rejects my credentials and I inevitably have to do a PW reset. This is a factor in determining if I’m going to buy an EA game.ID: hjz6pyn
I always click remember password, it always forgetsID: hjzbw8h
Right? Like why ask if they won't do itID: hjyny0r
This is a factor in determining if I’m going to buy an EA game.
This is a factor in determining if I’m going to just wait to pirate an EA game even if I was willing to buy it at full price day one, otherwiseID: hjyolk5
Pirate a video game? Gasp. I would never think of doing such things. For shame. For shame.ID: hjz25lh
Literally changed my password for BF4 login and told me it was incorrect.
The suffering never endsID: hjz5ep4
And Origin somehow always has an update.
I like to play from my couch with a controller. With a controller, I can change my computer's output to my TV, hit another button to open Steam Big Picture, then launch the game from there. But god help me if it's a game that needs another launcher. It will have an update that needs keyboard or mouse input to get by, or I'll need to re-enter my credentials.
So now I gotta get up and go to my computer to get past all that. Ok, first world problem, but it's god damn annoying.
I have to enter my password EVERY time I want to play far cry 3. And it sucks because I use a password manager so I can't just get quick at typing itID: hjymy65
I use Playnite, which is a kind of game library manager. It is totally free and easy to configure (in principle, since you can go much deeper if you want). The good thing is that once you log into each of your platforms, although you must have the other launchers installed, when you start a game, it will log in and automatically open the launcher relevant to the game. This way you avoid having to manually enter each launcher and enter your email / password to play.ID: hjyhm0l
Exactly the same here, I also use a pwd manager. Couldn't find a working solution and I ended up uninstalling the game.
I got Watch Dogs 2 on Epic, but it still has to launch UPlay, and I have to launch that from Steam so the pro controller works. Literally 3 launcher logins to play 1 game.ID: hjy7al7
Uplay totally refuse to connect to my Epic account. So I can't play anything Ubi related from Epic store.ID: hjy7o27
I had to turn off my adblocker to get it to finish the connection; that might help. Once I got mine working, I downloaded like 60 gig and played for 20 minutes, got bored and re-watched Russian Doll.ID: hjyjx9w
I'm the other way around, I can't connect to uplay without using epic. Epic is the only way I can connect to uplayID: hjyy5ns
Epic has weird co-operation with uplay. it had all kinds of issues when first ubisoft games launched on epic. one of the biggest was that users had to download game twice, because each launcher didnt recognize other ones downloads.ID: hjyweym
I got that game for free and just downloaded the pirated version to save the hassle.
I was replaying Xcom 2 recently and the 2K launcher was apparently trying to kill my computer. I could play for maybe a couple hours before my whole computer started bogging down. I couldn't even shutdown the game properly, I needed to restart my pc.
Once I found a way to by-pass the 2K launcher, I haven't had a single issue since.ID: hjxz6ex
That is the worst...
...and why does 2K need a launcher in the first place??ID: hjy0uni
What's worst for me, is that I swear to christ when I first bought Xcom 2 at launch it didn't come with the 2K launcher. Cuz I've played through XCom 2 before on an older rig and did not have this issue.ID: hjymakr
Game launchers grab user information and usage statistics. Nothing in a launcher benefits the player - it's all so 2K (or whomever runs the launcher) can see how users play their games and gather data by scraping user systems for info when they can.ID: hjyzqlf
Memory leak baby!
These are the worst.
Me today, when Assassins Creed went freeID: hjyw04u
Same, honestly don't know why Uplay keeps forgetting it. If it's maybe tied to being offline for an extended period of time? Updates wiping the credentials for no reason? Would be cool to hear what would be behind it.ID: hjz2mmp
every time ubi connect updates
Going through this right now with ea origin getting ready for bf 2042.
I managed to get into my old profile but do not remember the password. No biggie since I'm in. I can add the 2nd account right there in my profile. Sweet. Nope! I have to put in the password of the account I don't remember to add the 2nd.
If anyone knows how to help please advise. It is a nightmare and I already hate origin.ID: hjy7q5q
My trick is to look into my passwords on Firefox lol
I never remember the password of those lauchers, but they are the same as the logins for their website. So I just open firefox and look up the remembered credential for said website hahah
You cannot use the last password recordedID: hjy6lr3
Looking at you Origin
This in general is kind of irritating, it says "remember me" for a reason
Stuff like this has made me fall in love with GOG more and more. I hate having 20 different launchers, having to confirm my password with a confirmation code, blah blah blah and all that other annoying crap.
I just want to be able to play the games I've bought, not have to worry about authenticating, connecting to the internet just to play to play a singleplayer mode, running on a private server just to play with friends, not have spyware and other garbage installed when I connect to the internet and suddenly it starts a patch and I might lose a save file over it.
Give us more DRM free games, it should be the standard. I'm at the point where I'll accept 1/10 of the options if it means I actually own the games I've bought.
Game launcher, no way to skip any of these...Promo for designer
Promo for publisher
Promo for NVidia
Promo for the game
Another loading screen...
And then for you own security, we will (ask you to change password / send code via sms / send email / give you a puzzle to solve / ask your wife if she's ok with you playing our games / ...)
Fuuuuuccckkkkk ubisoft connect.
I was playing something Fullscreen yesterday and Ubisoft saw fit to popup over the game with some stupid fucking sweepstakes ad. Like wtf Ubisoft?
Ubi connect and Origin are the worst launchers in existence. It should be illegal to make shit like that.
Ubisoft Uplay/now Connect and PSN have the hands down worst login ever ever anywhere ever in the history of ever on PC.
It was so bad I literally had to contact support one time to log in to Uplay and the dude was like do you remember any previous passwords and I said yea heres one but I have no idea when etc. I assure you I'm me.
At one point I actually installed KeePass to remember all these fucking passwords but now I just don't log in to things.
