I'm playing Village right now, and I mean...I'm enjoying it, but it's been a while since I've played a Resident Evil game, and now I'm remembering why. It's not that the puzzles are particularly difficult, it's usually (not always) blatantly obvious what you have to do, but the act itself is completely nonsensical. Like keeping your wardrobe/dressing rooms behind a secret door, sealed by a statue, that can only be opened by finding a hidden ring, removing the gemstone eye from the ring, and placing it in the statue's eye socket. WHO DESIGNS THEIR HOUSE LIKE THAT? Even if you're a supernatural being, that's a pain in the ass every time you want to get dressed or changed. Or having a room in your house that can only be opened by placing a specific bottle of wine in a silver hand sculpture, and the wine is in the kitchen, submerged in a bowl of entrails?

ID: hm9mcmwYeah this got more and more nonsensical and harder to logically explain as the games went on.
At least in Resident Evil 1 its explained that the person who owns the mansion (Spencer) was eccentric. And specifically hired an architect (Trevor) who was known for designing secrets, traps and gimmicks to build a mansion that was as mysterious as possible.
The mansion was just a coverup for the real facility below so i always figured the staff had their own keys and backdoors.Its a bit of a weak explanation but at least there is one.
Its just a game but i feel like things that doesn't make logical sense within the game's established universe breaks the immersion.ID: hm96gawIt's a game dude.
