- This conceptual art is far more terrifying than the cutscene we got with the phone call. Would've loved to see Dimitrescu depicted scarier than the fan favorite one we have
-
This is an interesting concept art for sure, but maybe having her becoming more and more uncanny and scary from the original would be better than just replacing the original with a scary version IMO
ID: hnzkmbsID: ho17ueuYes, like having a rage fit throwing (more) furniture around or killing the Moroaica and becoming disheveled in appearance

Especially if you were looking through the window and she glanced at you in the mirror and left only to catch you sneaking in because you didn’t know she saw you in the mirror.
-
Even the trailer released in January portrayed her as more disturbing than the actual game with that ghoulish Joker-like grin and psycho eyes despite everyone thirsting over her at the time.
Her petulant and angry demeanour kind of ruined the horror aspects of her in my opinion. Hell that pout she does made her look downright endearing lol.
ID: ho18bx9The psycho eyes are legit scary! The flash she does after she drinks from Ethan and says she needs to inform Mother Miranda… creepy!

I think it definitely would have been scarier if she was depicted differently. It works for RE8 since it’s supposed to be less horror than RE7.

I think Lady D hits the notes of horror perfectly already, I honestly think if they tried to lean harder in one direction it would have ruined her character.
RE8 brings very unique types of horror to the playing field than many previous games do.
Lady D is honestly a terrifying character, yes its a hot tall vampire woman. That is actually part of her appeal as being scary, BC she is familiar and attractive enough, but looks off putting BC of the height. Her unnaturally pale skin tone and if you really look at her character model in the viewer its a lil more disturbing BC the amount of detail on her model reveals how she uses makeup heavily to hide her more grotesque features. She is literally a walking rotting corpse that covers herself up in makeup to hide that aspect of her, just look at he teeth esp.
The other part of her is that intelligence she has. She isn't a mindless hulking beast like X and Nemesis, which makes her a lil more disturbing to deal with BC of those human quirks they give her. This scene alone shows you her intelligence, BC she knows you are there and waits for you to enter the room.
RE8 may not be as leaned in horror as previous games and I wish they would have leaned in more on it, but Lady D. was just a very different form of horror compared to older villains in the series. LBR if a 9 foot tall vampire with missive claws walked up to you, your first thoughts are not gonna be "Step on me mommy", its gonna be "please don't murder me in a gruesome manner"
RE8 focused a lot more on psychological horror this time around than other games did in the series. A lot of it is more about disturbing you than anything.
ID: ho08jomRE8 is gothic horror for the most part and they nailed it perfectly. RE7 is scarier for most people because, well yeah you have less materials to fight with, but also because being kidnapped by some crazy country cannibals is more realistic than nine foot tall vampire lady. Two different types of scary that hit two different things, but fans of gothic horror will love RE8 for what it is.
ID: ho08nuwAlso bold of you to assume there isn't someone out there horny enough to see a nine foot tall vampire and not immediately be rock solid. You underestimate what makes some people horny

Look I'm no physics expert, but that angle with the mirror doesn't look right and looks a bit impossible
ID: hnzk73cI think that’s kinda of the point. Like she stays still but her reflection looks at you.
-
I think she could have been a bit more unhinged. She feels way too attached to reality and logical to feel scary.
ID: ho0gu1oYea they toned down the level of psychotic a lot from re7.
-
Lady D was great, but they should have emphasized scary over sexy. I would have liked to see her transition into something more grotesque and but still noticeably human. I'm envisioning something similar to Alex Wesker's second form.
-
Oh god why is she staring at me from the window?!
-
Ok look re7 hits hard the music the atmosphere if you have ever been in an abandoned house you know how it feels especially if it might have people living their watching you the fear the feeling of why am I still here but the more you explore the more it fell like you are stuck the menu music for re7 almost perfectly recreates the feeling that something is wrong but you don't know what until you see it
-
Nah it looks like that BoJack scene where Flip McVicker is pretending to be princess Caroline
-
I kind of feel like RE village could’ve been two games a volume 1 and volume 2 kind of like how kill bill did it
-
Yeah would’ve preferred this than the thirst appeal they went for.
-
I dont want to say ruined , but knowing that the monstrous, horrifying and terrifying Lady D is portrayed by the giggly and goofy Maggie definitely changed the game entirely for me.
Same thing with Angie, knowing it's Mia, playing as a doll definitely takes away from the fear.
ID: hnyrp5gIf things like this ruin games for you, maybe stay away from BTS stuff? I have a friend that's like this. The moment he sees how something is made, who is involved, etc., it's ruined for him.
-
I never liked the concept of Dimitrescu. It's kinda dumb if you ask me.

They could make it so that she gets more psychotic and disheveled in appearance with each daughter you kill. Maybe even made her move faster.
