Ok this probably means nothing… but that’s definitely a 3rd person shot of Ethan Winters in Resident Evil Village

It's for cinematic purposes only my dood.

I guess the game awards mod the game xD

Optional third person controls would get me to pop the disc back in.

It would be wild if they added a 3rd person control as the DLC. Idk this shot seems kind of deliberate. Everything else is kept correctly in 1st person EXCEPT for this one shot. Definitely interested to say the least

Dude, what if they really are developing an Ada Wong DLC with third person in mind and, just as a bonus, they added a third person option for the main game?

Where is this pic from?

It's a mod. You can check it out in this video at 17:32.

My guess is that someone responsible for the nominees montage was just looking for random shots from the games and ended up getting this.

Let's not make a big deal out of this, like a secret unannounced 3rd person DLC or something. Or god forbid the RE3R Nemesis Edition debacle. This community is already so incredibly gullible.

I would love 3rd person dlc, as well as VR mode, and some prequel dlc showing how Mia was captured.

This game and 7 struggle so hard because of the first person perspective. It somehow makes them less immersive because you cannot see the pain your character is in just the gore they are experiencing. 100% would pay for 3rd person view dlc.

it's wild to me that people are actually down to pay for a camera view change. is that really that hard to code into the game?

ID: ho08xdf

The main character has very few actual animations. If you watch your shadow where it is present it looks silly. They would essentially need to add all new animations for Ethan and a face obviously. That is why I could understand a charge for it.

A camera change would be very tough to do.

It’s not as simple as literally changing the camera. Now that you’d see Ethan, you’ve got to animate him for everything that you can now see that you couldn’t before. Before, you could only see his hands so they likely didn’t spend much time animating the rest of his body for cutscenes. Plus, the levels were built for the camera to be at his height so the camera would likely have issues clipping through the geometry since it’s further away from him than the areas were designed for. Cutscenes that start because an enemy has snuck up on Ethan would have to be redone because you’d be able to see them sneak up on Ethan from a third-person perspective. And a lot of the horror comes from enemies being right up in your face destroying your body (all the Ethan’s hand jokes) which would lose most of their impact.

The actual switch in perspective would probably be really easy to implement (although I have no idea what the RE engine toolset looks like) but it would break the game design which was all built around the first-person person perspective. Fixing those issues would be where the cost would come from if they did it.

You literally have no clue how game design works if you think camera perspective isn't a core of the game that everything is built around

I agree with this. Also, when you’re walking around normally you can see your own feet, you can see your chest at the bottom of your eyeline, if someone tries to grab hold of your shoulder or arm you can see exactly where their hand is relative to what they’re trying to grab.

I think in a game where you’re being physically attacked by zombies or monsters, 3rd person feels closer to a real life experience

But real life is in first person.

Did you close your eyes while playing? Ethan is like a human voodoo doll, he takes so much punishment that any normal person would have just wished for death. And you get to see it from a first person point of view? Madness.

Thats exactly why it isn’t believable. That is why I was so happy when Ethan died. You cannot see emotion or the feeling of pain through disconnected limbs that are not yours. You can watch pain through facial expressions you can relate to those expressions. No one can relate to the pain of having your hand bit off by a werewolf, but we can empathize with Ethan if you could watch the pain he is enduring through his facial emotions. Any horror movie always cuts to a shot of the persons face after they undergo pain. This way the audience can share in that characters pain. With no facial pain its nothing more than a call of duty knee crunch.
