Get Starlink. It’s pricey but it’s orders of magnitude faster than rural internet. A good day on rural internet is 20 mbps. Normally around 5. Starlink is pulling down 80 mbps at minimum.

I ordered starlink when it was first announced in my area, February 2020, still nothing

Ah man, sorry to hear. I thought my 3 month wait time was bad. Ordered sept 2021 and received December 2021. It’s worth the wait.

Have you tried single player games? I hear the lag is minimal.

Joking aside, I feel for ya. We only recently got fiber in our location, despite it being wired everywhere else around us. (neighborhood was literally forgotten)

On satellite ping is usually a bigger issue than bandwidth, but both are usually pretty bad yeah.

ID: hrobj31

23ms bad? Not compared to the 150 to 300ms bad on rural internet.

ID: hro9jmo

What sort of latency are you getting with Starlink?

ID: hrobk2j

23ms

Starlink is just insane. I spent a significant portion of my career installing and maintaining SATCOM and vsat systems on ships. This little consumer device is not even in the same league and it's only $500

Every. Damn. Time.

6 : Anonymous2022/01/07 15:16 ID: hrn8f6f

Its like the internet knows how to fuck up your day everytime

7 : Anonymous2022/01/07 17:13 ID: hrnrky8

Rural internet and comcast.

8 : Anonymous2022/01/07 21:15 ID: hrovff2

Starlink......if it ever shows up....

ID: hrp0f4p

2 year wait for me already

9 : Anonymous2022/01/07 17:49 ID: hrnxnpf

It's been like that lately? Anybody have any idea as to why that is? My assumption is that it's related to China and Europe's energy crisis

Satellite Internet is terrible for gaming due to shit latency. Like really shit latency.

ID: hrorc1p

Hmm, well how come it's more now than it was before? Like I've noticed a lot of multi-player games that I play have gotten worse connection than before, I checked my internet and it's ok, but my ping in games is super high, other people's ping is high too for no reason.

Last night I played with some friends online and our game crashed due to lag

This one other MMO game put everybody into 200-300 ping

I don't have sattelite, but I've been having issues lately too! I sure know the feeling. I wonder if parts of our infrastructure are breaking down or something...

Thank you for the superior laugh this grueling morning my guy. Greatly appreciated.

Then my job here is done 🙂

Why would that prevent you from playing a game? You DO install your games DRM free from GOG right?

...

Right?

ID: hro0alu

Oh, well I meant any online game, tried to play FF14 and I lagged way too much

ID: hro8vbn

Some games are multiplayer only...
