Hopefully the workplace situation gets sorted out asap
2 : Anonymous2022/01/18 19:34 ID: ht7tjh8

I really hope they clean house, their corporate culture is supposedly among the best in the industry and I cannot for the life of me understand why they left Kotick in place.

Here's hoping for the best...

ID: ht803rg

They don't own Activision yet and they don't want to say anything that can Jeopardize the deal.

Edit (they're gonna be super vague until the ink is dry like they were with Bethesda)

ID: ht85k66

I’m pretty sure that corporate staff will gladly ride their golden parachutes out the door

ID: ht7zw4b

Probably just corporate politics being played out. We have no idea what his contract says or any NDAs. This is a pretty standard practice when being absorbed into another company. Kotick will eventually resign himself. He'll get a payout and they'll be able to say he parted ways on mutual agreement. Not that he deserves it, but this way prevents any unnecessary lawsuits and a peaceful transition.

ID: ht81wy0

Kotick is only staying until the buyout happens and is official. After that he's leaving and everyone is reporting to Phil Spencer.

ID: ht8szz8

That’s the rumor at least. Nothing official said.

ID: ht8eh5q

Bobby's saying he is leaving if he can't fix it, yeah cause that's what Phil told him....

ID: ht826qi

They're gonna keep the peace until everything is finalized, then they'll do what they want. Kotick will probably be gone, or at least moved somewhere where he can't make things worse. Everything else will be subsumed and replaced by Microsoft's established hr practices, for better or for worse.

ID: ht7zfkl

corporate culture is supposedly among the best in the industry

The pay more than offsets the culture some days

ID: ht801nh

Yeah they will also be laying off redundant staff.

I hope they can make the culture more healthy for all

“Oh I wouldn’t say free, more like under new management”

4 : Anonymous2022/01/18 20:00 ID: ht7xps1

This is the most naive thing I've seen in a long time. Kudos.

ID: ht898eu

I mean, it can't get much worse than what they are currently.

Edit: ok, it can get much worse.

ID: ht8ak9t

Oh you sweet summer child

ID: ht8etln

People have been saying that every month about this company for the past two years.
If there is anything people should have learned by now its that no matter how bad it is, it can always get much worse.

ID: ht8stbt

When people say this, you'd be surprised how many shovels you see

5 : Anonymous2022/01/18 19:46 ID: ht7vgw8

Narrator: It won't.

ID: ht7z4ts

Anyone else’s default “narrator” Morgan Freeman?

ID: ht813aa

For me it's always the Arrested Development narrator.

ID: ht8c5uw

Ron Perlman, a la Fallout

Ahem...

Court documents reveal 238 gender discrimination and harassment complaints filed against Microsoft
"Microsoft has received hundreds of harassment and discrimination complaints from female employees in recent years, according to court documents...

ID: ht84ibx

Is that for the whole of Microsoft, or just the gaming division? Not saying that any discrimination complaints are a good thing, but I’d imagine 238 would be awfully low for a global company of Microsoft’s size.

ID: ht8el99

I‘m actually interested how many of these complaints are real.

ID: ht8k8cd

Apparently they have just over 182,000 employees. That said, it's just as bad for the individuals involved no matter how dilute the problem is - the real question is how well Microsoft handles it, 'cause Kotick basically swept the problem under the rug at Actiblizz and hoped nobody would find out.

ID: ht89m2c

Yes 238 complaints out of nearly 110,000 employees. Meanwhile Activision has less than 10,000 employees and probably had 5x that many complaints. Hell I work at a world wide retail store chain and our store that has about 150 employees gets about 10 gender discrimination or harassment complaints filed a year, so I would assume adding up all of our hundreds of stores would yield way more than that per year.

ID: ht8l1tl

Not to dismiss sexual harassment, but 238 cases out of 107k employees is pretty fucking good.

ID: ht8icd0

Lol with like 15x the number of employees.

ID: ht8mjye

238 complaints out of all divisions of a global company like Microsoft with 181,000 employees?

That is a very low number.

ID: ht8osg3

The thing that’s more important than the number of complaints is how they were resolved. The problem with a lot of companies is that offenders are just shuffled around and not dealt with. Even if Microsoft had 1000s of complaints, if they were Dealt with appropriately, I’d be cool with them. They DONT have 1000s of complaints though which leads me to believe they do have a habit of proper action.

ID: ht8ton6

So not very many, that’s great

Can’t wait to hear about how blizzard is only bad because of evil microsoft

8 : Anonymous2022/01/18 19:28 ID: ht7sfhm

Uhhhh.... maybe in 2 years I’ll own an xbox series x.... and I can play WoW in xbox...

ID: ht85jxm

WoW 2. Eliminate the bloat. Make it playable with a controller. Gamepass day 1. Print money.

ID: ht8cwvk

I really thought console play was where Blizzard was taking it at one point. The ability pruning coupled with the action cam development seemed like signposts to me, but then they seemed to have just abandoned that work.

ID: ht812nj

People downvoting you for saying this? WoW…

9 : Anonymous2022/01/18 22:00 ID: ht8hbii

You have saved us

Oh I wouldn’t say freed more like under new management

10 : Anonymous2022/01/18 21:06 ID: ht88kx6

uh lets not be too hasty. M$ isn't exactly a group of angels. its one corpo eating another. its not good or bad

ID: ht8n4ry

M$ mb not. But their game division is pretty good. At least I never heard anything bad about them, they make good games and looks like everybody in the industry respects them. And also, Gamepass is one of the best things that happened to gaming industry.

11 : Anonymous2022/01/18 20:53 ID: ht86d99

So are we pretending that the whole halo thing didn't happen now or??

ID: ht8l5yc

What Halo thing?

12 : Anonymous2022/01/18 21:31 ID: ht8cq3a

More like a slave market. One owner to another

13 : Anonymous2022/01/18 20:17 ID: ht80hhy

Oh yeah, now instead they will be unemployed.

14 : Anonymous2022/01/18 19:39 ID: ht7udjc

Is there any evidence that Microsoft isn't an equally bad shit show?

ID: ht7yo07

Are we really doing this "but is Microsoft better" bit? An employee literally driven to commit suicide in last couple months in activbliz, and we're going to sit here and question changes?

ID: ht7zlmf

Didn't say they were better or worse. Legit asking if MS is better or not. I know bad shit happens at Acti/Blizz, I don't know the level of bad shit that goes on at MS. My concern is that MS will just shovel that under the rug instead of addressing it properly and fixing the issues.

15 : Anonymous2022/01/18 20:43 ID: ht84t7d

Good guy microsoft, eh?

"You either die a villain, or live long enough to become the hero."

16 : Anonymous2022/01/18 21:47 ID: ht8fb62

Doubtful, they are inheriting all of the problems. Expect a mass cash out with mass exodus of some CEOs. Most if not all of the premier talent is already gone, not to mention employees who have committed plenty of SAs still reside. They bought it because it profits off bullshit, much like Microsoft is trying to do off Halo Infinite and is failing. That and the American antitrust laws are useless and haven't been enforced since before Reagan.
