ID: ht8mhzkNah-nah-nah. Think back, to asymmetric class-based games like Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, Starsiege: Tribes, Natural Selection 1 & 2, or Giants: Citizen Kabuto. Command & Conquer did it with C&C Renegade. It's totally possible and viable to turn an RTS game like Starcraft into a boots-on-the-ground style battle like Star Wars Battlefront or Sacrifice.
Starcraft: Ghost looked to be providing almost that in some old multiplayer video. You could have Marine weapons, Firebat weapons, Ghost weapons, pilot a Vulture, a Dropship, man a Missile Turret. It wouldn't take much to flesh out a playable Protoss or Zerg faction.

ID: ht8osp4For your second point, McCree was actually a character in a Starcraft like expanded universe game that got the axe. That got rolled into Overwatch. So they've had ideas, just not executed them.

ID: ht8debcIt's a picture of a sexy character, so there is a percentage of reddit that will downvote it along ideological lines. If there is no general interest driving upvotes, then they are more significant and highly motivated to downvote.
Even speaking frankly about this is likely to earn their ire.

There's a few things I'd like to see come out of this acquisition, although admittedly a lot of it is unlikely:
Local multiplayer in the Diablo II Remake, and possibly any other remakes of pre-2016 games (especially those that originally only supported online multiplayer, eg: many of the COD games). I know a lot of people will think this is unecessary, but it would further the appeal of the Xbox Series S as a "party console" or "family console" the way the Wii was circa 2013-2015.
Action-RPGs (ala Skyrim) based on the Warcraft universe. If done correctly these games could be used to generate new interest in World of Warcraft while providing WoW players with insight into the series' lore and mythology. They could probably even get away with re-using some of WoW's assets.
Remakes / Proper sequels of Archon, Vigilante 8, Star Control, GUN, Police Quest, King's Quest, Space Quest, StarCraft, Zork, etc.

Fun fact; An early build of Starcraft Ghost reappeared almost 20 years after the fact on a debug original Xbox console from a private collector. You can play a few levels if you don't mind the fact that the game, well, isn't finished, has tons of bugs and performance issues, and so on.

StarCraft is ripe for exploitation.
StarCraft Battle Royale that adds a three-faction dynamic (Protoss vs. Zerg vs. Terran) to the standard formula. StarCraft single-player open world action game as an answer to HZD, God of War, Assassin's Creed, etc. StarCraft arcade-style space sim in the vein of Elite: Dangerous or Star Citizen. StarCraft MMO. That's it. That's the pitch.
