It seems like everyone has different ideas about what they'd like to see in a RE game. Lots of people are purists who love the originals, tank controls and all. Some people prefer 7 & 8 with the first person view. Plenty of people think 4 is the best.
So, how would your ideal Resident Evil game be?
For me, I think I'd love to see something like the Division. I spent so many hours just wandering around New York in the first Division game. Finding every piece of lore I could get my hands on.
I'd love to see an infected Raccoon City on that kind of scale. A game my friends could drop into for co-op missions. A "dark zone" for PvPvE encounters. Raids. Wandering Lickers, Hunters, the occasional Tyrant. Lots and lots of hidden lore bits, small side stories to get invested in. Alleys, subways, and storefronts full of little micro dramas to discover and witness, and sometimes solve.
Set in the same time roughly as Resident Evil 3. I loved the story of RE 3, but like a lot of people, I would have liked to have the opportunity to explore the city at my own pace.
Thoughts? Discussions?

My ideal Resident Evil game would be a remake of both RE2 and 3 in the style of the RE1 remake with some changes on RE2's campaigns.
Claire's campaign would have her reach the RPD in search of her brother, then heading to the orphanage along with Sherry, passing through the streets of Raccoon City and, after a short section in the sewers where Sherry is infected with the G, they would reach the lab in search of a cure, all the while being stalked by a constantly evolving William Birkin.
Due to Claire locking the front gate of the RPD, Leon's campaign would start with a short section on the streets of Raccoon City, with him using the escape tunnel to enter the building through the secret room. He would then meet Ada, who helps him escape the RPD and exposes Umbrella to Leon. After a not-so-short section in the sewers, they reach the lab, all the while being hunted by a not-as-constantly evolving Mr. X.
As for the bonuses, after finishing the game with both characters, we would unlock Jill's campaign, which remains similar to the original RE3's, but would be improved, RE1 Remake style. The Mercenaries would be unlocked after finishing Jill's campaign, now with unlockable characters such as Hunk and Ada, but neither Nemesis, Birkin or Mr. X showing up in the game mode. It would also have a infinite ammo system similar to RE7, where you would carry an item that grants you infinite ammo.
My only doubt would be how to name this game.

You basically described, including the comparison to The Division, what I would absolutely love to see.
ID: hv0pavlThere's quite a bit I would like to steal from Division for a game like this. Character creation. Gear. Outfits. Weapons and attachments and mods. Missions that could take you into Umbrella offices, hospital, a zoo, clock tower, police station, labs and more.
I'd lean away from the Division's bullet sponge enemies for the average zombies, but lickers, hunters, tyrants, spiders, etc would all have ways to be bigtime threats. Random infected creatures we haven't seen, like mutated tigers, bears...a damn elephant escaped from the zoo.
I'd include human factions, too. Umbrella forces. Government forces. Some kind of outside paramilitary force (an Umbrella competitor, I suppose).
I don't know shit about video game development, but I do know that when I was playing Division, I spent a lot of time thinking about how cool an RE game like that could be.
ID: hv0ro1bI agree on every point. That would be so much fun.
ID: hv11bjyWasnt there an elephant in RE5?

I like it when they add new stories and perspectives within the Raccoon City incident so I would like to see something like that in the style of the remakes. Or maybe actually see the fall of umbrella.

I always wanted to see a game take place in the beginning of the racoon city outbreak.
I always had a story in mind of a camper or hiker in the forest right at the beginning when all people knew was that there was "a group of 10 people going around killing and eating their victims."
I think that would be a pretty cool game
ID: hv14yqoNice. Something way more bare bones and intimate. Alone in the wilderness with survival tools...but no real knowledge of how many are out there or what your character is actually up against.

I honestly don’t know. I’d love to have an action packed spec ops Jill valentine/Chris Redfield game. I’d love another first person horror filled game with an inexperienced wimpy protagonist that finds strength along the journey. I’d love an over the shoulder mystery mansion puzzle extravaganza. I love them all..... that being said. I’ve become really interested in Jill and Chris’s story. If I were to choose, I’d say give me whatever you want for controls and action, but give me all the details and lore surrounding these characters that you can cram into one game.
ID: hv1aekbI hear that! I really liked Chris in RE8. And Jill's portrayal in RE3 Remake was amazing!
ID: hv1ctmuChris was sooo cool in res 8. I loved him so much, I’ve been trying to come up with a plan to recreate his Dragoon gun from that last sequence of the game using an AK pistol/Draco. Problem is, short AK’s are so over gassed that suppressors beat the crap out of them >_<

Chris Redfield teaming up with Leon in other part of the story.
Carlos and Jill in other part of the story.
Completely coop experience, but focus is more on puzzles and horror. Also fighting enemies would be more like in RE2 and 3.
No details on story, but surprise me! Could even take place in past.

A new game in RE2/3R style where you play as post-recovery Jill meeting Claire and Chris. Keep RE3R’s more action skewed gameplay and dodging but keep RE2R’s exploration and add in real puzzles again. OG RE3’s live decisions, branching paths and RNG would also return. Imagine Chris and Jill reuniting (big feels cutscene), Claire working alongside her badass brother AND meeting Jill. They could work against the BSAA just like they wanted to topple Umbrella.
If fixed camera is on the table too, there’s a lot ideas that would be great to see.

I’d love to see something like re2 remake with more re1 style puzzles. I’d also love it to be playable in 3rd person and fixed camera, both done well. Kind of tough when third is about headshots and fixed isn’t, but maybe a bonus mode with some tweaks. For instance, re2make, the a and b scenarios are so similar, I’d have rather just had one campaign in third person, action type stuff like what we got, and the second in a modern fixed camera perspective with altered physics and more emphasis on puzzles.

My ideal game would be a remake of the original in the modern way they make them and add co-op. I wouldn't mind if they made a spinoff game that was open world similar to far cry but I don't know how they would do it without losing its identity.
ID: hv19zm6Coop is rough because it takes away from the horror. Hard to be scared when you have the buddy system. That being said, I loved res 5 so I’m on board.
ID: hv0u5zhThat could be cool. How would you handle the co-op? Would each person be able to explore on their own, teaming up when needed? Or would you have them attached at the hip the whole time?

My ideal re would start with a masked character whose face is not shown until the end of the game after an fist to fist battle with the big bad of that game it shows how he did the same exact same beating pattern to his father when he was fed up with his shit, and then the memory ends to a close up of his mask with the camera slowly zooming out and resuming to more gameplay where he walks through an open world without the mask or suit on, looking like a normal citizen until he gets home, where it shows how he gets into bed then short black screen then it reveals his face and wesker's voice starts narrating about about him revealing the characters name, codename, age, background and relations, then it ends.

As long as it focuses on survival horror and puzzle solving, I will be happy. There are enough action games and generic shooters out there, we don't need RE to be another one. I think taking an anthology approach in the future would be cool for the series. A new story and new characters and environments in each new game.

I like it! You would keep the original style, with the fixed camera angles?
