I enjoyed the first two episodes. They felt like they were part of a bigger story. If this continues, I'll continue watching. If they become procedural, like all the other DC shows on CW then I'll likely be tapping out soon after.
ID: gq3olagID: gq2w00kAgreed, have the first episode a chance and was happy to find it wasn't a super with a geek squad. 2nd ep had a pretty good twist. It's solid.
ID: gq2xwjmYea, knowing cw it'll be good quality for 1 or 2 seasons and then gradually get worse over time.
Hopefully this one doesn't do that but I'll be weary for a while.
ID: gq3b75jIf they become procedural, like all the other DC shows on CW then I'll likely be tapping out soon after.
They will. The CW shows always start with their best villains comic wise and go down from there
Except Legends that one is more original as it is an amalgamation.
Even so Vandal Savage is the no 1 enemy of Hawkgirl
Arrow - Dark Archer (Merlyn)
Flash - Reverse Flash
Batwoman - Beth Kane
Supergirl moved to CW season 2 - Lillian Luthor
ID: gq41vtwYa, pretty much how I felt. The first two were very watchable.
ID: gq5ooecI am a little baffled by the redneck husband being fine with Morgan Edge fucking the town over at large as long as some benefit given he's meant to be all about the community and why the fuck a double Pulitzer Prize winner isn't being headhunted by TIME or The Washington Post when she quits The Daily Planet, why any editor would fuck with an article written by someone with such standing in the industry and why she goes to her local newspaper ran by one person looking for opportunity. She should be getting offers left and right from all over the world.
ID: gq4vrerpeople always say they dont like procedural or episodic shows. does everyone just want every tv show to be a stretched out movie?
ID: gq4hyqnThey put family first and identity politics last.

Never even heard of this. How can non-Americans watch this?

Look it up on that site and it will tell you.

I think they've done a really fantastic job of "humanizing" Superman. The addition of his twins was something that I wasn't expecting, but really adds a lot to the story that's very compelling. They've established a lot to unpack. One son is confident, a jock, popular but doesn't have powers, yet the one who is unsure of himself, an outcast with ADHD who seems like he's always about to have a breakdown does have the powers, could potentially lead to some very dark storylines. I kept thinking about the movie Brightburn and how that whole concept of "what if Superman was bad?" is really clever, but wasn't executed well and would have worked much better as a television series. I know this is the CW, so chances are that kind of storyline probably won't happen, but damn, if they did and found a way for the son to go off the rails and have Superman and Lois intervene could be a great plot. The cast is fantastic though and as much as I love Henry Cavill, Tyler Hoechlin is quickly becoming my new favorite Superman.
ID: gq4lvfiCheck out Invincible on Amazon when it's being released.
ID: gq4r0cgIt helps that they finally gave hoechlin a decent suit. Very man of steel inspired. They also bulked him up to the point that it's almost comical but managed to make it work. It's clear how little he was given to work with in his previous cw appearances.
ID: gq4x1tqI wasn’t sure about Tyler at first, but he’s really grown on me as Superman. The way they treated him on Supergirl wasn’t doing him justice.
ID: gq4z6epTyler Hoechlin is quickly becoming my new favorite Superman.
"Thanks! My mom made it for me!" I've never seen him in Supergirl, but when he delivered that line, I was sold.

Lois Lane on Smallville is still my favorite. She reminded me of Lucy Lawless.
ID: gq6gdp2I'll always Stan for Erica Durance.
-
I will keep watching as long as they stay dark, and don’t introduce the typical CW campy / Teen feel.
-
I wish DC would stop collaborating with CW and get some more shit like Doom Patrol out there. CW is for teenagers who like soap operas. Maybe this HBO thing will spur some actual quality TV.
ID: gq3f8jkDC is owned by Warner Bros. Warner Bros. co-own CW. It's not so much "collaboration" with CW as it is "we already own all this IP and have some time slots to fill".
ID: gq3hjtuI imagine DC will stop collaborating with the CW when it stops making them so much money.
I think HBO has definitely had some influence on the CW/DC-verse. Superman & Lois seems like a pretty good time. At least it feels like a somewhat fresh take on a Superman story without a lot of the CW/Teen drama hijinks which bogged down other shows.
ID: gq3k60hSame. Me and the wife watched the first episode and their kids are kind of annoying. I dont know if I wasnt a standard teen but if I found out my dad was superman I wouldnt spin into an angsty rage, itd make things more understandable. Hence not liking any of the CW shows really ever.
ID: gq488updoom patrol, titans and the cw shows are all made by the same people though, I think the only difference is that they have different budget
ID: gq46gtiAgreed, a DC show on HBO would be great, I want dark, I want real.
ID: gq3e5gnI don’t think I’ve ever tuned in to watch the CW. DC is absolutely shitting the bed with the continued production of CW shows.

Is this a reboot of Lois and Clark?
ID: gq5uc5hIf you squint just enough, you can consider it a sequel of sorts. But if you’re expecting funny, sassy, smart Lois Lane, you’ll be sorely disappointed.
-
3.25 mil - is it a lot? I am so not used to factual neutral informative headlines in our media, so I got confused.
ID: gq4tuuy10 years ago those numbers would have got it cancelled but in the age of streaming all bets are off.
-
How does this show compare to Krypton? Is that still airing?
ID: gq4mor9Krypton was cancelled in 2019 after 2 seasons.
ID: gq4h78sThat was cancelled long ago

I thought everything after “One of our sons was diagnosed as like... super moody or whatever because this is the CW” sucked.
I get Archie comics getting the Dawson’s Creek treatment, but jeez all these crappy teen dramas seem like a waste of the amazing DC comics IP.
Before the fans lay into me, I know they make money. I know I’m not the target demo. I know. I just wish as a DC comics fan that the content they produced with the IP was watchable for adult men.
ID: gq3um2xYou are aware you just put the words “DC Comics” and “for adult men” in the same sentence while pissing on the CW for being beneath you? Only on Reddit would one find something as hilarious as that! The target demo of the CW Network is 18-34. That is a higher target demo than 90% of DC Comics output.
-
You know, I kind of want to see a role-reversal of this: SuperLois and Man.
-
Beating a dead horse

I’m so sick of this story
-
From the picture. Is superman Indian?
-
This looks like the cover of the porn parody.
-
I remember her from Grimm, and my expectation is immediately lowered as in my opinion she couldn’t really act that well.
-
I really dislike that actress for some reason
-
She looks so dissatisfied with life in general in this promo shot. Lol
-
I really like this show. I haven’t been able to get into any of the other DC shows because they felt redundant and plain. The closest I got was with the Flash but I got tired of it after 3 seasons. Hopefully this show keeps the same small town vibe going forward.
-
This show is basically taking the movie Man of Steel and making it into a tv show. The only thing that is different are the characters and story.
I will keep watching the show as long as it doesn’t turn into the typical DC Hero CW stuff.
-
They've done a fantastic job with superman and the family idea is good. But the actual family is very hard to watch , I think it's mostly down to bad casting. Lois and the kids both.

I wish other shows would stream extended episodes.

If a better station owned it then maybe I’d give it a try. Enjoy the crap show people.

I can even tolerate procedural but if they start driving the plot by characters refusing to tell each other obvious things I'm done.
