Nice deal. I can get War of the Chosen DLC and Tactical Legacy Pack DLC for cheap. It would be cheaper if I have Chimera Squad in my library too.

Warning: buy the xcom 2 collection before you buy the xcom ultimate collection.
The xcom 2 collection contains a 10€ reinforcement pack which includes 3 dlcs which individually costs 25€ in the ultimate edition. This way you save about 5€

I am unable to purchase this bundle because it keeps giving me a duplicate items error for already owning XCOM: Enemy Unknown. Anyone else having this issue?
ID: gpy5nxuYep, same here. I think what's happening is that it's adding the XCOM Enemy Unknown Pack instead of the individual items. With XC1, 2, and Chimera already in my library, it shows as $18.22 in the store, but jumps to $20.24 in cart with XCOM 1 and doesn't let me complete purchase.
Adding the Enemy Unknown pack by itself to cart adds the base game too, hence why I think it's the pack and not individual items.

I bypassed the issue by getting XCOM: Enemy Unknown Complete Pack, XCOM® 2 Collection and then the ultimate collection.
I think it was even cheaper than outright buying the ultimate collection (30.27€ vs 35.17€)

I could get Chimera Squad for an astonishingly low price, but for some reason Steam thinks part of the collection is in another collection in my shopping cart, but I only have one item in the cart.

If anyone is in the same boat as me, where you have all of XCOM Enemy Unknown + DLCs, but nothing for XCOM 2 or Chimera Squad, this looks like it will be a monster deal when XCOM2/DLC are discounted during a sale. If the math holds true, XCOM 2 dropping to its common sale price of 19.99CAD would drop the bundle from 40.99CAD to about 24.78CAD to me, and the DLCs being discounted would add up too; if XCOM 2 goes to 6.40CAD as it did in February, it will be an even bigger steal.
tl;dr, this collection should drop massively in price at the next Steam Sale, where XCOM2 and DLCs will likely be discounted

Is anyone else having trouble actually buying the collection? When I try to purchase it, steam blocks me stating :
"You cannot complete your transaction because you are attempting to purchase an item that is already included in another packaged item in your cart. Please check your cart to verify that you are not purchasing an item multiple times. The most common cause would be purchasing DLC along with a deluxe version of a product that already includes the same DLC."

I already own most of the stuff in the bundle, inculding XCOM 1. Steam doesn't let me buy the bundle / use the check out, because I already own it. I really want to buy it for Chimera Squad!

The store says it's 3,91€ for me since I have everything but Chimera and one DLC but when I add the pack to the cart it wants me to also buy XCOM1 (which I already have) so it goes up to 5,26€.

I'll always advocate for thia game! War of the Chosen is a must -- not just for the extra content but it has big performance upgrades.

The Bureou: XCOM Declassified being hated is a disservice and injustice to the game. Sure it's not XCOM in gameplay, but it's more like Star Wars: Republic Commando with some Mass Effect-like storytelling put in '60s America, and it's a freaking good tactical TPS at that (there is pause for syncing up attacks much like in Mass Effect). Just play it on high difficulty from the start.

It was a much lower budget/scope game compared to Mass Effect and you could see that but overall it was an experience I am glad I got to play through, even the story was decent.
I think it was one of those games where being part of the brand made it perform worse than it would have otherwise.

ID: gq1umlnHaven't played Chimera Squad yet (just picked up the collection for 2.70€ with CS being the only item I didn't own, which is an amazing deal), but WOTC alone is worth that deal. It's a great expansion, Reapers are so fucking cool and so are most of the new mechanics. Only thing that can get somewhat annoying is the constant blabbering from the Chosen lol.
Anyway, great expansion, absolutely recommended.

ID: gq08xm4Only if you are the kind of person that likes to replay the campaign. Highly advised you play vanilla xcom2 before going in to war of the chosen as it massively ups the difficulty/complexity.
On the upside it does significantly change up the gameplay enough that a second play through with the dlc enabled is a fresh expirience.
ID: gq09oyyYes though War of the Chosen is the only DLC that really changes gameplay substantially as it's the only actual expansion for the game. It adds thee bosses two new factions and two new classes of solider as well plus the various missions that tie these new things seamlessly into the main story of the game as well as adding new overworld mechanics. The other DLCs add mini bosses, extra missions with playable robots as well as new gear you can equip.

Just FYI, you can save a little bit more if you use XCOM 2 Collection to get any missing DLCs first and then buy the Ultimate Collection. The former offers 74% discount vs 73% for the latter. Could be regional, not sure.

Having never played an XCOM and already owning the first one it seems like I should just skip it and start with 2. Are any of these DLCs necessary or skippable or should I just get the ultimate bundle that's also on sale?

If you're set on playing 2... There's a couple of small content dlc and a full fledged expansion. War of the Chosen (the expansion) is very very good but if you haven't played the game before it's not a terrible idea playing vanilla first. So you either play it safe and see if you like the game before purchasing the dlc or you buy them in a bundle. You technically can skip the smaller dlc (specially the Tactical Legacy Pack) but War of the Chosen adds so much good content you'd be missing out.

ID: gq2dm51If you don't own any of the games you could skip EU and start with 2 since the second one is an improvement in every way. If you own both you might as well play the first one since it's still pretty good.
tl;dr: You won't miss anything by skipping EU but it's still worth playing.
