That zombie is as iconic as anything else in the series to me.

ID: gu20bw1

I agree. It's pure art.

ID: gu2p9oo

It creeped me the fuck out as a kid. I was 8 or 9 when that game came out but I have never forgotten this image haha.

3 : Anonymous2021/04/10 16:57 ID: gu25dr3

The best one had I think a close up of a dog and said something like "don't waste your bullets, you might need the last one for yourself."

ID: gu2ixlv

dang, edgy!

ID: gu2u02n

If these walls could talk, they'd scream. Is My favorite one.

4 : Anonymous2021/04/10 17:41 ID: gu2aqy5

Fear can't kill you.

But....

ID: gu2b1li

I love the text that shows up in RE Zero when you load your game, something like "Are those distant footsteps the sound of other survivors?"

5 : Anonymous2021/04/10 16:16 ID: gu20iw5

Thanks for the memories! I remember this ad in all the major game magazines like EGM, Next Generation, and Gamepro. I also remember renting the PS1 at Blockbuster countless times just to play RE1 because I couldn't afford to buy a system at the time.

I miss the LamePro jokes...

Resident Freakin’ Evil: Director’s Cuss

President Evil: Gore More Years! (Maybe it was 4 Gore Years)

Unrelated, but my favorite LamePro satire title was Tupac: Dinosaur Killa

ID: gu3j7s1

I remember something about Pres Evil and Abe Lincoln as a zombie.

7 : Anonymous2021/04/10 16:14 ID: gu207tc

I was 16; this is definitely giving me the good nostalgia vibes

ID: gu2du10

I wish I could be this young at that time, I was born 2 years later lol.

Even though I think we can appreciate Resident Evil 1 and the others OGs today I don't think we can feel the way you guys felt when it was released. There was nothing like it at the time, playing it as a child or even a teen like you were in the night back then may have been a whole new experience.

ID: gu2g38z

That is true, you can never replicate the feeling of playing something when it was new. RE1 was the first game I ever played that scared me, and having actual voice acting was such a novelty I never noticed how bad it was.

ID: gu2ijcf

My first playthrough was at 2 am during a storm, and I also lived in a trailer park at the time; combine the thunder, lightning and torrential rainfall, with the moan of a zombie that’s not quite in your line of sight and you’ve got quite the terrifying experience.

I’ll never forget that memory

ID: gu2o9wl

me too; it was so good, a load of us played it together with a massive block of shitty soap bar and a bottle of 20-20

ID: gu352uu

Me too. So many good memories of this game.

"If the suspense doesn't kill you, something else will..."

I remember that from RE2. Such a cool badass line and so 90s.

9 : Anonymous2021/04/10 16:42 ID: gu23nhn

The same tagline was used with RE2 too iirc

ID: gu2away

Yup, on the back of the case!

10 : Anonymous2021/04/10 17:15 ID: gu27lde

One thing that makes the Resident Evil Remake my favorite game of all time is that I used to be scared and uneasy when I played this but as soon as the remake released it made the original seem like more of a comedy by comparison. I still absolutely love this game but there’s a reason that the Resident Evil Remake is still considered the king of remakes. Hell, look at how much more of an option remaking a game become post RE Remake.

ID: gu2an2u

The original 1996 game and the sequel will always be my favorites. Almost all the remakes incl the recent re2 one are amazingly well done but nothing can beat the aesthetic of those first 3 games. And the sound, and the nostalgia... Ahh

Oh, now I see where BMTH's Parasite Eve lyric comes from! They also referenced RE in their song Dear Diary, "tasty, itchy".

12 : Anonymous2021/04/10 19:41 ID: gu2osqn

"If the suspense doesn't kill you, something else will."

Best tagline in the franchise.

13 : Anonymous2021/04/10 17:09 ID: gu26uh3

Ahh I love seeing other things reference this shot. It's so iconic

15 : Anonymous2021/04/10 17:20 ID: gu2883d

My favorite Tag Line of any Horror Release ever created.

16 : Anonymous2021/04/10 19:17 ID: gu2m0v4

Dat Zombie still haunts me till this date , goddamn spooky

17 : Anonymous2021/04/10 20:25 ID: gu2tsl4

That zombie face is so iconic and creepy, nothing else in the whole serie hold a candle next to that in term of horror imo.

18 : Anonymous2021/04/10 20:30 ID: gu2ueg9

My first resident evil i played was 2. It was at a friend house. I had the N64 because i didn’t believed the Playstation to be successful. How wrong i was, i was flabbergasted by the cinematic and the mature content. I sold my N64 two weeks later to buy a Playstation and a month later, Ocarina of time released. To vent my frustration i played the shit of the 3 resident evil. Fun times !

If the Jill sandwich doesn't kill you, something else will.

20 : Anonymous2021/04/10 23:05 ID: gu3bj4o

This as actually introduced me to the series. I had it posted on my wall as a kid

21 : Anonymous2021/04/10 15:58 ID: gu1ybi6

Same rn after I thought village was coming out on 7th April now I can't wait.

22 : Anonymous2021/04/10 21:54 ID: gu33vq8

23 : Anonymous2021/04/10 16:44 ID: gu23sjj

26 : Anonymous2021/04/10 17:15 ID: gu27jry

I remember these on old playstation magazines.

27 : Anonymous2021/04/10 17:28 ID: gu298h2

Flashback to nightmares as a 4/5 year old

28 : Anonymous2021/04/10 18:20 ID: gu2fchu

That is honestly an incredibly effective ad. How could you NOT want to play that?

29 : Anonymous2021/04/10 18:26 ID: gu2g3en

I still find it really interesting that they left Richard Aiken as the guy on the game case.

30 : Anonymous2021/04/10 20:12 ID: gu2scuy

This was one of the first I saw that sold me on it. And the infamous bloodbath ad

31 : Anonymous2021/04/10 20:30 ID: gu2ueo4

Game legit scared me as a kid and I'm certain is one of the main reasons I've become a zombie movie fanatic. Too bad zombie movies have been sucking hard recently.

32 : Anonymous2021/04/10 20:33 ID: gu2unuk

I actually had (may still have; need to look in storage) this version in this case.

Those cases didn't exist long in US as the change to jewel cases was soon after this release. The Directors Cut is what was put in the jewel case version and is significantly easier than this version.

33 : Anonymous2021/04/10 20:34 ID: gu2uv6n

Fucking love this era of magazine ads

34 : Anonymous2021/04/10 20:56 ID: gu2xdyf

Was so good, would love to relive this part of my life again

35 : Anonymous2021/04/10 21:12 ID: gu2z59u

Brings back memories!

36 : Anonymous2021/04/10 21:49 ID: gu33beu

It’s timeless like the exorcist poster it just works

38 : Anonymous2021/04/11 01:38 ID: gu3s0i5

Gamepro magazine

39 : Anonymous2021/04/11 02:14 ID: gu3vr15

You were almost a jill sandwich

40 : Anonymous2021/04/10 17:26 ID: gu28ypu

Funny because there no zombie that looks like that in any game

41 : Anonymous2021/04/10 19:56 ID: gu2qhwt

We've come a long way from this zombie to lady Dimitriscue
