Poor boy had to trade his legs for an SNES.

Worth it. There was/is nothing better than being a kid and getting a new console on Christmas morning.

That is the exact same way my gaming journey started. My parents got it for my brother and I for Christmas and my dad and uncle secretly opened it early and played it in my parents bedroom. Somehow we didn’t notice that our new donkey Kong game was already half beat lol.

Sega boy here. We knew how to have a proper console war in our day. None of this namby-pamby Xbot and Phony stuff. We were pulling Qanon level shit for our gaming machines.

Our uncles knew a guy whose son's uncle's grandma's horse's stable-boy's priest once exorcised the other company's headquarters and saw that Sonic/Mario was going to be cancelled because the red in his sneakers/hat was made of the blood of kids who killed themselves when they got stuck on the third boss.

Mine began with an intellivision.

Mine was an N64 with Mario-kart!

Edit: I was wrong. Memory isn't serving me well. The reason I wanted the 64 in the first place was because my dad had gotten me into Super Mario World on Super Nintendo when I was a kid.

Mine was a launch Nes

How old were you when you got your snes? I got mine I think around 9-10. We were shopping at Sears. They had Donkey Kong available to play and I was hooked! Gaming passion started. I remember I cried because I wanted the console so badly and my dad who barely made enough at the time bought it on installments and surprised me while I was crying in the parking lot

You are ALL LUCKY. MY dad got one and became really into Zelda. AFTER he beat the game he literally took it away because it was a "distraction" and BANNED VIDEO GAMES FROM THE HOUSE. I had to only play at friends' houses. I still loved them and even got kinda into multimedia in HS. But still, no gaming allowed... He believed there was no future in it and I had to be something like a writer, lawyer, baker, insert generic BS job, so yeah. Thanks for limiting me "for my own good"

Sorry... got carried away... still salty I couldn't play Halo...
