If I recall correctly, the developers said that this game (RE8) will close off his story. So it seems we likely won’t be seeing him again. For me personally, that won’t be a loss. But I can understand how some like his character.

If they kill him off in RE8 i really hope they make me care about him before that happen. Based on the demo alone, it seems that'll be the case. Those 30 min made me like him so much more than the entirety of RE7, he feels a real human being now with actual characterization and personality.

That’s good to hear. I know they were surprised that people latched onto Ethan so much after playing RE7, which is why they made him the protagonist of this game. I feel like RE7 he was meant to be. Fairly blank as a character so his personality would reflect more us (the player) vs having his own more distinct and rounded personality like previous protagonists. I hope he survives the RE8 though. It would be nice to give him a happy ending.

I don't think our fan favorites would be sufficiently plausible in a horror game anymore. Unkess you mean once offs like Rebecca and Billy. Then yeah i agree, bring em back in.

Would people mind if they suddenly brought them back to non-superhuman level? I don't think I'd care at all even if there's no explanation for it. I just want RE games where the story actually involves their iconic cast

Same. I LOVE Ethan and I hope he gets more games. He’s passed up almost all the other RE characters to make it into my top 4 (with Leon, Rebecca, and Claire).

Also the “His story comes to a close” tag line could be referring to Chris too. It’s appropriately vague.

I would like a new female character. Maybe even Sheva getting some spotlight. She had so much potential in Re5. But because it's a co op game. Sheva became just a side character.

Currently I don't really like Ethan but maybe when I play village I'll change my mind.
