- A lifetime experience
-
I remember my first Halo CE moment, tiny 20" tube TV and trying to make up for the poor quality at the beginning of Truth and Reconciliation where I had no idea where to go and what to do because it was so dark.
-
God yes, I got lost after jumping out of the ship into the water on a 19 inch. Could not tell where anything was
-
There is a part right after entering the ship that was very very easy to get lost in.
Also that map , hardest legendary map to solo
-
i rly dont get all this halo hype. as an '80s gamer this game felt so weak compared to doom and quake
-
It had an immersive storyline, addictive multiplayer and unique protagonist. Halo was the game that defined the original Xbox and pushed the gaming world past the N64/PS1 generation
-
It's okay that you don't understand it. The game isn't for you.
-
and there’s a special place in Hell for people like you, n0g
-
I echo this. Halo was hyped by CASH. It fucking sucked.
-
Old graphics skyboxes still beat the remastered version for me.
-
Awesome but it’s been posted so many times.
-
The concept of a ring planet is so freaking badass and original (at least for me)
-
I got the same feeling watching Interstellar.
-
There's something so cool about looking at something really huge, or seeing a gigantic and beautiful landscape in a video game and thinking to yourself, "I could go there if I wanted to," and even if you know you can't, it's still amazing.
-
This is why the Halo Ring is my VR background.
-
I've always wondered how, if someone actually constructed a ring-like structure that large, how would gravity naturally work on it?
-
true dat. still have the OG Xbox and boot up halo CE to just remember what it was like when I was 7.
-
Yup, good times 🙂
-
My grandfather bought me the Xbox when I was 11 years old because we found it in the mall in Denver. He called my dad from a payphone and he said buy it, I'll pay you back. He did but I remember him saying don't let him play it. Not because my dad's not a great man, but because it was Christmas and he wanted to see the joy on my face. We went home and my grandpa immediately let me take it out on condition I didn't snitch on him. I didn't. 12 years later he bought a legal bag of weed for me. 3 years after that he let me live with him for 2 months after moving half across the country rent free. 3 years later he missed wedding by 2 months. I love you gramps.
-
I remember struggling with the dual stick controls at first, now everything else feels so broken and terrible.
-
This game is still one of those great moments, even if you were not there for it, you know it. The MCC version is good but still doesn't quite capture that feeling.
-
I did t remember this moment in my life until right now. And it’s even more amazing now somehow.
-
I believe Elysium and infinite warfare made a reference to that right because I could’ve sworn that one map infinite warfare with the barn is in a giant ring
-
Same for me 🙂
-
Hopefully 343 haven't completely fucked up Halo 6 after completely destroying the franchise with Halo 4 and 5.
-
Well. Now I feel old as fuck.
-
I remember when I was young thinking that we could walk all the way there.
How naive I was XD
-
Who else sees giant sunglasses?
-
What game is this?
-
I can hear this image.
-
honestly. what a breathtaking sky box
-
Halo was a very special game. The first time I played it at a friends house and I think we just went about 14 hours straight, didn't sleep at all. I bought it the next day on my way home from his place.
I did not own an XBox.
-
And then somehow they topped it in Halo 3 as you look up into the skybox of the Ark, seeing the Milky Way and the other fingers of the Ark as the Forward Unto Dawn swoops down and blows away all the destroyed Covenant armor as Marty O'Donnell flexes on us with Behold a Pale Horse
-
I really miss the countless LAN parties we had. We had an old shack with 4 rooms, 4 TVs, and 4 Xbox’s. All of our friends would meet over there almost every night for multiplayer. So much fun hearing “Awww man” after picking off someone on an opposing team. I still wish that more games had split screen.
-
Never played Halo, please don't kill me
-
I skipped a day in HS just to go buy Halo on a whim. Absolutely zero regrets all these years later.
-
Only thing I can remember is rushing through the beach and tossing nades at every direction
-
Replace “gaming” with “anal”
-
If it wasn't for Halo I wouldn't be gaming today. That ring in the distance causes so much mystery and lore compared to a sunny blue sky or whatever. Halo has always been more aesthetic and pleasing than other fps games.
Praise be to you Reclaimers.
-
To me it was the citadel in HL2
-
The best part of half life two is throwing the can in the guards face at the beginning and having him chase you. At that point I knew I was in for a treat
-
It was... magical, I wish I remembered it better
-
Starship EVO has that kind of ring aswell. And you can travel every inch by foot.
-
I remember shitting a little bit, like an acceptable amount, when I first saw that.
-
Our minds can't really even comprehend how much land we're looking at either. It's hundreds of earths. Those are planet-sized storm systems. Oceans that would take years to sail across. Enough space for trillions of people to spread out and be comfortable.
-
Absolutely and utterly agreed.
-
For real, that second level, stepping out of that crashed drop ship onto the wide open spaces of Halo and looking up at that ring just had me like "...woah...". Recently the only thing that's gotten me close to that feeling is certain VR titles.
-
Damn you’re right that was a big wow moment
-
Tbh, I remember driving into the ocean more fondly.
-
Halo really was amazing! I still remember passing the time between shifts in Iraq playing Legendary coop. The first time encountering the flood, the snowy terrain in the assault on the control room... I'm afraid of going back to it because if the huge difference in graphics between then and now but I haven't kept track it there have been remakes or mods.
