- Halo infinite assault rifle 2020 vs 2021
-
Kind of weird to put up two images with vastly different lighting to compare the changes in the design.
Edit- the real issue here is when you zoom in on e3 2021
ID: h1rmr90ID: h1s59zl… is it not? Zoomed in or not, the 2021 model seems to have much more detail. There is obvious wear to the weapon, more painted on details, and the model itself seems like it’s either the same or slightly higher quality resolution. I do prefer the hud of the 2020 gun, but the 2021 version does look potentially more intricate. Now again this is pretty unfair due to lighting, but am I missing something about the 2021 rifle?
ID: h1rn4z1Same tbh
ID: h1sdqcrAh, pardon OP while he somehow gets the same lightning from a different cutscene an entire year later.
ID: h1sajs1What's weird is the gun from the new pic looks like it fits better in the scene from the old pic, and vice versa.

ID: h1s9khfYou might not believe this but they completely redo the lighting in the game every time you walk into shadows or sunlight.

Lighting makes a whole lot of difference
-
Different lighting, but whatever
ID: h1r97z1while lighting is important, the texture and model is still miles better imo
ID: h1rfd7mMost the missing detail is baked into the light maps which is why it's unfortunate most of last years demo happened entirely in a big ass shadow.
ID: h1rb3hbThe model is the same, but yeah, the texturing is much more detailed.
EDIT: It's the truth, the model geometry is the same. The texturing is different. But whatever...
ID: h1rtwstFWIW the weak lighting system is part of the reason the game was delayed in the first place.
ID: h1rgu8vIt is more than just lighting
-
It definitely looks better now. We can argue about how much how bad it was before but they got negative feedback and addressed it. This is how things are supposed to work when you have a problem.
-
I honestly don't care how much "better" graphics are getting at this point.
What I want is some revolution in compression for graphics so games are no longer 400GB+.
ID: h1sa3sfPC games don't have nearly the filesize of consoles. It's not the graphics, it's stupid things like uncompressed audio or just straight up incompetence that leads to file sizes on consoles.
ID: h1s90fpEveryone thinks it... But no executives care...
I have like 20 games downloaded on the Xbox 360... Whereas I can only fit maybe 2 games on my ps4
ID: h1sarxhActually its the opposite. What if the size of this game was actually reasonable but the visuals were mediocre. Everyone threw a fit because the visuals were bland. Now the game's file size might skyrocket due to the extra work they may have to inject into the game because of it.

Somebody stole 25 rounds of ammo!
-
I care much more about how this game will play than how it looks. I hope they get that right.
-
I thought e3 2020 was cancelled
-
Sure lighting may play a part in how it looks, but go ahead and rewatch the 2020 trailer. It shows the gun in “more detail” and still doesn’t look as good. Also, you can’t tell me the demo from 2020 looks like a next gen game. What we’ve seen this week is miles better
-
When people complain that star field didn’t show enough, remember the reaction to an early build of halo infinite being shown....
-
It looks like it was blasted with dirt. Really great detail, especially where it accumulated under the scope.
ID: h1r7pnfDust collection physics has come a long way...
ID: h1r8jxnMy PC is really good at doing the dust collection physics.
-
I may never have owned an xbox but gotta give credit where it's due... They've come a long way in a year. The detail has taken a massive jump up and with greater familiarity with the new consoles I'm sure they'll be able to get the most out of the latest tech
-
But is it any good this time?
ID: h1s7uznI can't believe I'm saying this but I'm getting optimistic. I'm not big on 4, it's whatever and 5 is literally meant favorite game I've ever played (no its not the worst but what I was expecting and got make it that to me personally). This looks promising though. The only complaint I have is the unneeded open world
-
Thats whatsup
-
Its amazing what different lighting does
-
Looks good. It was too smooth last time.
-
Nice. But still not a wow factor. Def better but not yet a next-gen look.
-
Took them a year to reskin a rifle... No wonder it still doesn't have a release date
ID: h1rclnzYes, because they only worked on the rifle this entire time.
ID: h1rb12bI thought they were saying fall 2021?
ID: h1rbvu6Holiday 2021 according to the E3 presentation.
-
Last truly good Halo game was 2, 3 was ok. Just let this franchise rest in peace.
-
Well it was just a more cartoony artstyle back then.
-
Thing looks real now
-
They added... light?
-
Every time I see updates of this game I find myself more markedly underwhelmed than before. I mean, I used to LOVE Halo. Now, it just seems like a waste of time.
-
If bungie ain't makin it I ain't playin it - my Motto after halo 3
ID: h1rliriDon't you mean Reach?
ID: h1rmmyzOr ODST.
The MCC's pretty great nowadays too.
I also liked the campaign in 4, and the multiplayer in 5.
ID: h1roza2Come on dude we all know Halo 3 was the last real Halo game
-
Still doesn't look next gen to me...
-
It looks miles better, I can't wait to play it, I just wish they'd given a real release date.

I thought the 2021 AR was more detailed before I zoomed in
