My wife: Why do you play it if you get so frustrated?
Me: You wouldn't understand!!!
ID: h4yhy95I recently jumped back into red dead online, and feel like I'm not allowed to voice the slightest displeasure about a griefer without being told "Well turn it off then!"
ID: h4yplyl"well turn it off then!"
that's what griefers would say...
ID: h4ypzq3Griefers are why you keep ample healing items, a fast horse, and explosives rounds.

Pro: I feel extremely better after completing a no hit speedrun in Dark Souls.
Con: I never completed a no hit speedrun in Dark Souls.
ID: h4z3sx8No hit runs are generally not speed runs, they’re challenge runs

I think everyone loses a small piece of themselves every time they play dark souls games. And I have 600+ hours each in ds2 and ds3. After playing elden ring I fear I’ll actually go hollow…
ID: h4yug2bFrom software’s real plan the whole time. Collecting our souls to build out their kingdom of undead.

HINT: Try making the enemies dead before they make you dead! It seems to work for me.

Games
Dark Souls
There's your problem, you're not playing games
ID: h4z9v43You don't actually play Dark Souls, Dark Souls plays you.

It's a frustration sponge, so you have less excess frustration in your reserves to spend by taking it out on other people. 🙂

For single player maybe, but not for online multiplayer.
My friends play a MOBA and it is 50% complaints about the game in general and 50% complaints about the match making.
I told them that maybe they should play another MOBA or to not play the game mode where everything is random and probably picks whichever player it can find to fill the team.
Their answer was "You don't understand, you don't play this game or MOBAs".
Like, why do you keep playing something that you are not enjoying?.
ID: h4yvdvgI hate competitive games Edit:And hard games too cause I have anger issues
ID: h4ywkbaI have anger issues too, but with dark souls I learned to not get angry, but instead learn from my mistakes. Well, most of the time, sometimes there's just unfair bullshit.
-
Not me though. I am playing normally in free days somewhere between 6-10 hours a day and maybe but maybe I will get mad for a second
ID: h4ylt0xYou are very calm sir. Edit:Do you smoke weed?
ID: h4ym7x9No mate I am used to get a coffee on every morning and tea somewhere between 5-7 pm

if i played darksouls every day i would probably spend the rest of my day happy i wasnt getting killed over and over in darksouls
-
“an hour a day” not 10 hours a day
-
noita, a roguelike for the mentally deranged
-
Important part of that I imagine would be the "up to an hour" bit.
-
And then you ✨D I E D✨
-
Fuck you, fuck you, fuck you!
Yeah playing too much reverses the effect.
Oops, my bad.
-
Imagine how happy you could be after 12 hours...
-
12x basic math
-
Originally it used to frustrate me but overtime it kind of becomes cathartic.
-
Dark Souls cheers me up. It's pretty fun.
-
ME PLAYING LEAGUE OF LEGENDS SWEARING ALL THE PEOPLE IN THE GAME INCLUDING THEIR FAMILY, GOD, PRESIDENT AND COUNTRY
-
It says 1 hour a day of videogames, not 18 hours of soul crushing torture.
-
I get it, but after playing so much, Dark Souls and Bloodborne are my comfort games now. They actually have helped me with my depression and anxiety.
-
Me, playing dark souls to de-stress after playing overwatch
-
Counterpoint: people who play Dark Souls for an hour a day have a better outlook on life and are generally nicer to others because no matter how bad their real life is, at least I’m not stuck in the god-forsaken hell swamp that is Blighttown.
Sorry, that got a bit personal at the end.

What about 6 hours per day?
asking for a friend

I've played and platinumed all Dark Souls games, except for DS2: SOTFS (on my way to getting it) and I gotta say, that game felt like you're being punished just to live up to Dark Souls' notoriety. In DS1 and DS3, I feel like most areas are difficult BUT fair. With DS2, it just feels like it's bullshit after bullshit. Iron Keep, Iron Passage, Black Gulch, FRIGID freaking OUTSKIRTS come to mind. Fuck those areas, they make me mad just by thinking about them. Also, the boss fights seemed easy (not counting Ruin Sentinels; screw those assholes) in the base game, with the exception of the DLCs, esp. the one with Fume Knight and Sir Alonne in it.
-
I just started playing. Starting with 3. Once I fix my spacebar on my keyboard I won't have anymore excuses to why I'm dying so much.
-
I don't understand what kind of games people play that allow them to play for UP TO A SINGLE HOUR. I sometimes feel like I've barely started playing when the hour mark hits let alone less than that.
-
Fun fact: The American Medical Association has said in the past that video games effect the brain in much the same way cocaine does. So this is like saying "Kids who do just a little drugs every day are happier".
Edit: There have been a lot of reactionary and uneducated replies in response to this fact. I'm sorry it offends yall so much to know your favorite entertainment is medically considered a drug.
-
That's kind of true you your brain releases dopamine when you beat a level or win its your brains reward system but it doesn't flood your brain with it to the point that your body becomes depleted and you go into depression. If you want to use their logic then finding 10 bucks on the street is the same as doing cocaine.
-
Not really. You're lacking important information. Even if you lose, your brain was flooded with dopamine and serotonin the entire time you were playing. It's a side effect of screen technology. It works on the principal of Persistence of Vision by flashing constantly, and each flash makes your brain pump out more endorphins. That's why people literally get addicted to video games and phones.
Edit: I learned this studying cinematography in college.
-
No it's not, and it's oversimplifying it.
It's all the dopamine that's released. We can get it from drugs, video games or basically anything that provides pleasure. The difference is the harmful effects it can have on the user. Using drugs can and often does lead to debilitating health and mental issues while playing games at worst can lead to carpal tunnel syndrome.
Now I recognize this doesn't include the factor or addiction, but I just feel this comparison is just way the hell out there.
-
You: No it's not, but now let me give partial information that doesn't back up my denial.
-
the moral of the story being that schools should provide all kids with cocaine lines as a means of mental support. They could even appoint one kid to be the line leader (and whoever goes last is the caboose)
-
But that’s not a scientifically accurate comparison. You can say the same thing about eating a delicious meal. Does that mean eating a delicious meal is like doing a little bit of cocaine? Scientific literacy is important. And reading the headline of something Medical association said and then making 1:1 comparison with no supporting evidence is t scientific in any way. That’s why you’re getting downvoted.
