Regular office chair for the win. Why cater to this peacockery is beyond me. Functionality >>>>> bells and whistles.
ID: h6hs3qnAgreed. I made the mistake of buying the so called “gaming chair” on Amazon for $200 and it was awful. Like sitting on solid brick. I finally replaced it with a somewhat pricy mesh office chair and my god it is infinitely better in every possible way. Also looks better than a flashy gaming chair in my opinion

ID: h6ipt23I fell into this trap as well. I thought "oh, i have a bad back, surely a gaming chair will be more catered to people sitting around all day." No. You get a shit pillow and the recline feature is poorly made such that the little bars that engage when you recline like to disengage all the damn time.
Back to office chairs.
ID: h6hura0The sad thing is the office chair is going to have more bells and whistles put towards comfort. These things are cheap, poorly made and overpriced because it says "gamer" on it.

ID: h6ii4cpI just have a plain black one because I actually do like the bolsters as I can lean to the left or right of my chair and have a support instead of just an arm rest poking my ribs. I also bought a headrest pillow meant for cars. Some have stiff base foam, but mine is like sitting on a cloud. It’s stupid they’re called “gaming chairs” at all, they were created for sim racers/novelties for car enthusiasts, not “GaMInG”. I actually cringe when people refer to it as a gaming chair, it’s a racing/sport seat on office chair wheels.
ID: h6ip65tA good office chair is almost 3X as much. Don't get me wrong I'd rather just get a $60 Walmart special over a $120-$200 gaming chair. But the truly better option is gonna be at least $350.
ID: h6hswm6This oh my god. I bought a gaming chair like a year ago when I was just getting into gaming, and I've hated it. I thought it was better for you posture while gaming and everything, but it sucks. The lumbar support is almost nonexistent, the headrest is terrible, you can't adjust the seat at all, feels like I'm sitting on 2 by 4s covered in nylon, and it has this stupid bucket design that forces to to sit one way.
But the worst part is that I paid 300 CAD for it, which could've gotten me a WAY better chair.

ID: h6hzci7My Secret Lab Titan is the most comfortable chair I've ever sat on, and it's saved my back. Only chair I can sit in for longer than an hour without my back hurting.

ID: h6i0wplYour 30+ year old lower back will disagree. That said a decent office chair will be better than the most expensive "gaming chairs" 99% of the time.
There's a reason all of the big streamers have Herman Miller chairs or the one by Logitech that's partnered with HM.

And on a similar note, sitting hunched forward on a couch and other bad stuff when on LAN-parites.
But you know, back in those days we didn't have fast enough internet to game online so the only way to play online games like CS and Battlefield 1942 against something else that bots was getting together and sitting uncomfortably with our computers hooked up trough a old HUB.
But you know, we were happy in those days, we didn't take connectivity for granted like the kids in these days. -
We sat on the floor, couldn't see a thing in those small tvs back then

Just throwing another ticket into the office chair circle jerk. But I'd add, a lumbar support pillow. Wow did it improve the whole experience. My posture is better, the curve of the chair is more comfortable, 10/10 recommend

I posted on this sub asking for gaming chair recommendations and got zero replies. I did a bunch of research and found out that they are all horrible for your back. Bullet dodged I guess.
