We Need A New Mario Kart Soon…

Team Fortress players be like: “First time?”

ID: hagjmbh

When the hell are they gonna finish that comic?

ID: hagzu5t

Probably never. The main writer of the comic left Valve as I recall, and from what I understand, while he did have a conclusion in mind, it's not documented anywhere.

Chess players:

ID: hah8fx1

Chess has multiple sequels tho. It just turned anime, and it focused more on characters. We got Fire Emblem, Fire emblem 2, Fire Emblem 3, Fi...

Played a lot of TF, really enjoyed TF2 on release, watched it slowly mutate into a cosmetics gong show. Haven't played in many years now. Would love to see a Team Fortress 2 Classic or something which scraps all this silly hats and skins nonsense.

ID: hagywhe

Tf2 now is a bot fest. Really interesting, really sad.

ID: hah41jp

and now if you dont have a cosmetic you get kicked because people think you are a bot

ID: hah7bum

Soldier v Demo was the nail in tf2's coffin for me. I do understand that all this loot stuff is what allowed the game to live for over a decade, but it just wasn't appealing to me anymore after that.

I honestly wish they would just keep adding more maps to MK8DX

Also, I want to play the n64 rainbow road with 3 laps please. I'm sure not everyone will want that but it's my favourite track and I'm down for a long race once in a while.

I wish they'd just add every map from every mario kart into MK8DX, I'd even pay for the DLC if they go that way. The game is perfect otherwise

ID: hah4ha8

Yeah the next iteration of Mario Kart should be Smash Ultimate style, every racer and every map from every entry of the franchise.

I'd also say bring back the dual racers and special item system from Double Dash, but I know some people wouldn't like that.

ID: hah6vvq

Plus it's not like they'd struggle with securing rights from 3rd parties for Mario Kart...

ID: hah75vl

Special items have no reason not to be in every Mario kart, but dual racers should only be an option.

ID: hah45vs

More F-zero maps would be amazing

More F-zero maps would be amazing

Mario Kart 8 was only released twice because the first system it was on didn’t sell. GTA5 has been released a zillion times.

5 : Anonymous2021/08/26 16:21 ID: hafw22k

At this point, I’m convinced that GTA 6 is like 98% complete and has been for a while but they’re just holding it hostage until the GTA 5 milk runs dry

ID: hag04hl

Tbf it took over 5 years and all of the rockstar studios to get red dead redemption 2 done.

ID: hag4341

Google says 8 years:

After finishing that game, I wouldn't be surprised if it took them a decade. It's such an extremely detailed masterpiece.

ID: hagir0h

Every Rockstar game has been all hands on deck since Max Payne 3 got stuck in development hell. With the increasing scope of their games they don't have enough people to run two projects at once anymore.

The only option would be to rapidly double the size of the company, and that is how you get a Mass Effect Andromeda/Anthem situation where both teams shit the bed.

ID: hagfzvd

They’re re-releasing GTA V again for the PS5 tho…

ID: hagglns

After finishing that game, I wouldn't be surprised if it took them a decade. It's such an extremely detailed masterpiece.

Oooo can you fish in it now?

ID: hagr1j7

Nope, GTA games are "events" that have a huge influence on Take Two's share price. They're going to announce it two years in advance and drip-feed info until maybe 3-6 months before release, at which point we get full gameplay footage.

At every point in that two years, new GTA 6 news pumps the share price.

Take Two aren't going to drop a game on us. And they weren't going to start developing GTA 6 in earnest until their projections said GTA V revenue would dry up in ~5 years' time.

6 : Anonymous2021/08/26 18:22 ID: hagelp3

At least they haven't re-released it, what, 6 different times?

ID: hagvqft

Where are they going to re release to? The xbox?

7 : Anonymous2021/08/26 19:59 ID: hagsx8w

I find it kind of hilariously ironic that two of the most popular open world games out there (Skyrim and GTA5) are both games that are the 5th installment, fans desperately want a sequel, and both sequels are likely still years out.

ID: hahf9hn

I think you're looking for "coincidental", not "ironic"

ID: hahece4

I'd be happy if Rockstar put some of the online additions into single player. Or straight up give us single player DLC. Imagine Michael chilling on a huge yacht with his family having a chance to spawn on it.

Also give us single player car insurance. Kind of a funny thing to ask lol.

I really hope the next Mario Kart does what Smash Ultimate did and just includes all tracks across every Mario Kart game. Thats a game easily worth $60.

ID: hah3tdu

I had the same sentiment, but it was more towards making it more crossover heavy. The DLC's already doing this with F-Zero, Excitebike, Link being a playable racer, etc... but I mean going really ham with this idea. Call it Super Smash Karts or something, I dunno... but I look at Mario Kart and I can't help but wonder what's left for them to do that'll separate a new game in the series from all of its other entries.

I want a new Mario Baseball!!! The fun RBI baseball type games seem to be a thing of the past.

ID: hagnqvn

I would LOVE a new superstar baseball with all the newer characters, but I worry that it'd be like the tennis game where everyone has "special moves" that are just different animations and the exact same effect.

ID: hagywii

Try Super Mega Baseball 3 or even SMB2 if it's on cheap for a cheesey graphics but incredibly well made baseball game! Highly recommend.

10 : Anonymous2021/08/26 19:52 ID: hagrxmr

nah, we need a new Burnout. have yall seen post apocalypse pandemic drivers out there even Mad Max cant hang anymore?

11 : Anonymous2021/08/26 16:36 ID: hafy9h4

Lol you're still playing 8? I don't even know how old that one is! I've been playing Mario Kart 64 for so long that they must be past 100 by now.

12 : Anonymous2021/08/26 18:50 ID: hagio1r

Bring back double dash !!!

ID: hagy9cv

Wouldn't be surprised if MK9 revisits this idea. It was a lot of fun and jibes nicely with the sort of quirky, joyful, cooperative vibe Nintendo seems to enjoy exhibiting in its games.

ID: hah3m0t

Am I crazy or could you co-op on the same kart? I want to say I let my baby sister play the backseat character because she wasn't skilled enough to maneuver.

ID: hagrjsb

Seriously. Best entry in the Mario Kart series.

13 : Anonymous2021/08/26 17:59 ID: hagb2g1

GTA5 got old the moment I realized the updates were for online. Also several additional points in comparison with Saints Row 3 regarding the laughable garage, underwhelming car modification and other things.

ID: hagi6fl

saints row 3 was the game i was fantasizing about the entire time i played san andreas

saints row 4 was the game i was fantasizing about when i beat san andreas and did a second playthrough using all the cheats

14 : Anonymous2021/08/26 16:49 ID: hag0c6c

I prefer MK7 but yes.. It doesn't get old honestly

ID: hagfkpe

For some reason I enjoy MK DS, Wii and 8 (deluxe actually), but there's something about 7 that just.. isn't right to me. I don't like 7 and I just can't pinpoint why, it's not fun to me and the characters in it are boring to me.

Wii and Double Dash are the most enjoyable Mario Kart games to me. 8 Deluxe is fun to play every now and then but I don't have the online to play with other players. :/

ID: hag2n55

Thought you meant mortal kombat for a second man I'm ngl i was about to say me too

15 : Anonymous2021/08/26 19:19 ID: hagn13h

Mario Kart is at least demonstrably different from game to game and has years-long gaps between entries.

ID: haguh70

I think they’re referencing Mario Kart 8 specifically, which released on Wii U 7 years ago, and which the Switch version didn’t really alter.

ID: hagxj03

Well, the Switch version came with the DLC content, along with a few new characters, karts, items, and an entirely revamped battle mode, as well as several qol improvements.

16 : Anonymous2021/08/26 19:03 ID: hagkm9v

is there a mario kart 8 non-deluxe?

ID: hagrjz8

MK8 was originally realeased in the Wii U, with the DLC's sold separately. The deluxe version of the Switch includes those.
