Reminds me of Gladiator
ID: hawyp7sID: hax4sheFather to a murdered son. Husband to a murdered wife. And I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next.
ID: hax5kavIf I ever had a computer that could run anything close to that I would know I was in elysium.
ID: hax3l2cShadows and dust.
ID: haxkdktWhat we do in life echoes in eternity.
ID: hawvb3lMy name is Maximus Decimus Meridius, commander of the Armies of the Grass, General of the Meadow Legions and loyal servant to the true emperor, Marcus Weed. Father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife. And I will have my grass, in this life or the next.
ID: hawvokzThe Grassiator
ID: hax0to7"Are you not well-main-tained? ARE YOU NOT WELL-MAIN-TAINED???"
ID: hawr7isMy first thought. And because I'm old it's among my favorite movies. Lisa Gerrard coming...
ID: hax0009Definitely immediately thought of Gladiator as well. This movie was playing in at least one screen the whole time I worked at a local theater. It went from one of the main screens all the way to last screen in the building. I forget the number of times I had to do a theater check and one of the grass scenes was on the screen.
I did end up getting paid once to just sit in the theater and watch the movie due to a couple guys being dicks trying to show off to the girls they were with. They were causing enough of an issue for the rest of the patrons that my manager told me to go ask them to scoot over one and just sit next to them. Was surprised at how well it worked.
ID: hax88f3Yeah that's intentional. AC Origins did it too.
ID: hawy16cSomeone play Stings Fields of gold

Me walking through tall grass in videogames: feels good
Also me walking through tall grass in real life: what the faq is this shit
ID: hawtdxhThere may be snakes too
ID: hawutibAnd ticks. And spiders.
ID: hawv54mSnakes? Where I live you have the chance to catch one of two deadly illnesses from random tick encounters. Tall grass is the enemy.
ID: hawu4nyIt is nice living in a place where wading through grass, sticking fingers into unseen cracks while climbing and swimming in freshwater is safe. Its crazy how many normal things are dangerous in other places.
ID: hawx1opWatch out for Snakes!!!
ID: hawwnpcYup. As much as I love doing this in game, I would never walk in it in real life
ID: hawx7ddi grew up on the countryside and once every year or two i get forced to collect wild flowers in a wild field in the wild morning. Nothing is worse than going through tall wet grass filled with all kinds of bugs, spiders, ticks and mosquitos early in the morning.
I probably hate it more than anything i can think of (i'd rather eat brussels sprouts).
ID: hawu6pgTicks and chiggers, ticks and chiggers.
ID: hawz835Walking through tall grass in video games: zero effort, finding pokemon and rupees, grass looks the same when you leave as when you came
Walking through tall grass in real life: awkwardly lift legs to the side to make it easier, stumble over overgrown rocks, faceplant and get stung by a bee, then realize you left an ugly wake of flattened grass behind you in an otherwise untouched field
ID: hawxf8kI was going to say that whoever programmed this has never walked through tall grass.

Normalize games without HUDS
ID: haxzqd8Normalize putting an option to get rid of HUDS. TLOU2 did an amazing job with this.
-
which game?
ID: hawnoujGhost of tsushima
ID: hawwud3Currently on my first playthrough and cannot believe the visuals.
-
Ah, ingame this is awesome.
In real life I'd be constantly feeling itchy and trying to find all the spiders and other creepy crawlies flying and attaching themselves to me.
ID: hawscbjNow imagine walking through tall grass just like this, but in Australia..
ID: hawuu7gNo that isn't how it works there. Everything is upside down so the grass covers your face instead of your ankles.
Sometimes the grass walks on you.
Edit: thank you for the hug!
ID: hax0wwuWe don't have grass like that here, if it grows too high it gets burnt by the sun or eaten by Drop Bears.
ID: hax11tlI don't mind spiders as much as finding tick nests.

Ghost of Tsushima is one of the most finely crafted games period in terms of art direction. Any aspect of the graphics that are lacking are immediately made up for by the incredibly beautiful and colorful saturated art direction of the environments. Very few games have managed to make actually stop and stare at the environments for long periods of time.
It was also my very first platinum, after playing trophy enabled games for over a decade, which says a lot about the quality of the game in general.
Edit: thanks for the awards guys. Went to bed with a couple upvotes on this comment and woke up to a flooded inbox. My favorite thing reading through the comments was hearing how many of you also got your first Platinum from Ghost and I just love that. The world begs you to spend time in it and rewards you for it. That’s how every good trophy list should be.
ID: hawxkqqThe only game I've ever played where I have done everything and only logged back in to finish small stuff and felt a need to finish 100%
ID: hawyjogI platted it on PS4, and then did a fast run through on Lethal+ for the New Game+ Trophy when that came out. Got back into it on PS5 for the DLC, and then looking at the map of incomplete icons on NG+ I instantly said 'I am totally doing this all again'. Just existing in the game world is an absolute pleasure.
ID: hawxrftEasily one of the most stunning games I have ever played. One of my very few platinums.

Would love to be able to do this in real life without having to worry about ticks and poison ivy.
ID: hawsfxsYou are thinking a wheat field...
ID: hawwbxfEven dry wheat’s crunchy and hard. Stalks go flying and smack you upside the head
The stalk itself is basically hay.
Also screw haystacks in video games.

Maximus on his way to his wife and son.

ID: hawqax1Yeah, it’s made by Sucker Punch Studios, owned by Sony.

Me when someone tells me to Touch Grass:
-
Seriously one of the prettiest games I've ever seen. And after upgrading to PS5 all the leaves and grass are mwah!
This is like the game my 8 year old self dreamed of when playing ninjas and samurai with sticks
ID: hawnfoaThis footage is from the ps5 director’s cut too! The whole experience is so surreal

Video game: ghost of tsushima

Is this game like Dark Souls or is it playable for the average idiot like me?
ID: hax8dfvDefinitely not as hard as Dark Souls. Combat is super fun as you have to switch stances for different enemies. Swordsman, shields, brutes and spears. Then on Iki Island, the enemies will switch weapons causing you to switch stances mid fight. I was hoping for better parrying like Sekiro, but it feels a bit off. Any other questions, LMK friend!

If you find yourself alone, riding in the green fields with the sun on your face, do not be troubled. For you are in Elysium, and you're already dead!
