- All monsters of OG FFVII! Made a HD bestiary from extracted models.
-
Love it! I also love just how much of FF7's enemy roster falls under the style of "3D modeling is new! What sort of weird shit can we model?"
ID: hbyibx4ID: hbzf5g8It's also great to see how the remake interprets these enemy designs and attempts to make them more grounded in the world. Just look at the Hell House fight.
ID: hbzfdxpI've always said FFVII, VIII, and IX have the most bizarre enemies in the series. And I'm glad for that.
-
I hope triceratops with wheels is a boss in the remake.
I very much enjoyed how they took random joke enemies from the OG and made them challenging fights.
ID: hbys6cdYeah, fun as it is to imagine junk sectors in Midgar crawling with Hell Houses, elevating particular weirdos to signature fights is a really cool idea.
ID: hbywzm4i would love to see him, the guy swinging on the chain, and the horrifying deep-water monsters redone in HD.
-
As a kid, I thought those bandit guys were some kind of duck-billed creature
ID: hbz4o5qMe too!
-
I remember as a kid in the Brady Games Official strategy guide... it listed Emerald weapon has having "Well over half a million hp".... why couldn't they have just said... 1 million.
ID: hbyi2zqyeah trying to be all mysterious for no reason. who do you think you are, the FF9 guide??
ID: hbz6nxohalf a million hp twice over!
-
I appreciate that you have all of the enemy skill materia listed. Also, today I learned that ruby only has 800K. I thought both emerald and ruby were 1 million.
ID: hbyigefi had never looked up how much they all had. i actually thought angel sephiroth would have the most at level 99, but i think the max is only ~400k for him.

Beautiful! The FF7 bestiary is still one of, if not my all-time, favourite RPG bestiary. Everywhere you turn, there are just classic enemies.
I had loads of fun years ago ripping the models and uploading to the FF wiki - every now and then I see the images I ripped used for blogs and articles and what not, especially during the lead-up to Remake. It was kind of a point of pride for me, I worked hard to get some cool angles and stuff to really show off the monsters.
Elfadunk is my all-time favourite. I've posted about him once or twice on here. He is so funny looking, I love him.
ID: hbyr6jfthere's a chance the 2-faced images are yours then, the FBX models wouldn't extract correctly so that enemy alone I grabbed from the wiki instead!
-
Never realised how small "ultimate" weapon is compared to his siblings
ID: hbyi9rhyeah i actually pulled up some battle videos just to confirm because it felt strange... but on the other hand, the bigger ones seem a LOT bigger in cutscenes. Diamond towers over Midgar, but then here he'd barely reach past the gift shop of Shinra HQ.

The pokemon rap comes to my mind.
-
All the weird vector-shaded enemy creatures from FFVII. Sorry for the massively tall image, I started at a certain scale and didn't want to redo it when the monsters got super tall. The full thing is 4400x22000 and too big to upload to reddit.
Created in Blender and Photoshop. Models were extracted from the game using Noesis.
I create a lot of game maps/infographics and stuff, you can find this bestiary in one image and other fun stuff here:
FF8 already done, FF9 probably in the wings. -
I Just notice that Diamond and Emerald Weapon are pretty similar
ID: hbz31bwthe Planet has a thing for big ol' shoulders
-
this is awesome dude thanks for posting
ID: hbyyqlnthanks!
-
This is amazing. Would love to have these all on a poster... but I don't think they'd all fit.
ID: hbyqvd4someday i might restructure it into a wide-format image, i did the ones for vagrant story + FF8 + chrono cross this way but they have less than half the enemies it turns out.
-
I had no idea Bizarro Sephiroth was so tall!
ID: hbyr1g5imagine if, instead of Diamond Weapon attacking midgar in disc 2, it was just a massive weapon-sized bizarro sephiroth slowly floating across the ocean towards the city
-
Lmao Ultimate Weapon is the shortest of its siblings
-
Ok from far away, I thought the Aps was Sully from Monster’s Inc. lol. I was like waiiiiiit
ID: hbz3ialput that Plate back where it came from, or so help me!
-
These are some slick P O L Y G O N S
-
I absolutely loved that they took regular enemies from the original and made them bosses in the Remake. Such a nifty idea.
-
Awesome! Some of them are really uncanny, which really enhances their intimidation factor in a novel way.
ID: hbyz1vyi wouldn't want to run into a wild HUNGRY in a dark alley
-
Anyone else have a 24 year itch that only fighting sapphire weapon could've scratched?
ID: hbz8e2mthey gave us a sprite years later at least! (the emerald/ruby/diamond sprites from this game are basically pixelated images of the same models as above, so consider this an unofficial model)
Some enemies are so... random. I love it.
This has me all the more hyped up for future VII remake releases. Outside of a handful of exceptions, we haven't even got half way through the first page of enemies. There's so much to keep working with.
yeah and after part 1 it feels much more likely they will lean into the goofy ones rather than cut them out.
That snake is the reason why I didn't continue my playthrough yet lol
Nice work, so much variety here!
Would you call the model shading in ff7 Gourad shading like in Tie Fighter? I always loved the way 7 OG's enemies looked.
Wonderful post, thank you.
thank you!
Wall Boss from Temple of the Ancients will always be in my opinion one of the spookiest bosses in all of Final Fantasy. That thing scared the crap out of me as a kid seeing monster come out of the wall.
Still stuck on a save file from 99 with only shadowflare :/
This is amazing! Great job
I can hear these pictures
Someone then needs to 3d print them 🙂
The real monsters are the friends we made along the way.
that + not needing textures meant the enemy selection here is especially large, varied and weird
