- Final Fantasy VII AI mods are sorcery. I'm floored by how my game looks with minimal effort. THIS is an HD remaster.
-
The AI upscaled backgrounds look great, but the character models literally don’t fit.

The chibi high res models fit a lot better with the aesthetic of the game IMO
ID: hccssvdAre they on 7th Heaven?
-
I've never liked HD remasters people make of games like this, Mario 64, etc. Something about them always look so shiny and kinda plasticky?
ID: hcd7bclCG from that period, in general, looked a bit plasticky because of the rudimentary lighting.
ID: hcddh50That's just the background themselves, the upscaling just makes it more noticeable. Lighthing engines back then were kinda wacky, so everything is a bit too shiny, we just don't notice at first due to the low quality.
-
Naw, I’d fire anyone who brought this to me as an HD remaster.
ID: hccvd92It’s literally the lowest effort remaster possible. Good for a free mod. Awful if you were paying for it.

That still looks pretty bad, though…
-
I'd like to see a screen from when Cloud and Aerith are on the roof of the church. Some backgrounds are made for the deformed characters.
-
I hate it
-
Looks fine, not sure what the people complaining expect from a an AI mod of a nearly 25yo game.
ID: hcd16uxI’m playing through the original currently and this looks soo much better. Hard to conceptualizer unless you’re looking at the old version
ID: hccv7sjThe screenshot really doesn't do it justice. Seeing a modded version on your PC monitor for yourself is amazing. The game looks like I imagined it looked back in 1998.
ID: hcd39ppExactly my thoughts.
-
A remaster from the PS2 era, sure.
ID: hcd8g2sI wouldn't mind, that era had better design concepts than the current one tbh
-
It reminds me of Monkey Island or any point and click adventure game from the mid 90’s
-
Anyone here trashing ai upscale mods needs to check out moguri mod for ffix
ID: hccpf08There’s different quality of AI upscale mods though. I think this looks pretty bad, while Moguri looks great. Being AI upscaled doesn’t make it good or bad in and of itself
-
Yeah I would have much rather had them keep the battle system / static cameras. But remodeled.
-
What mods are you running?
ID: hccc2uySYW with the Ninostyle character models
7th Heaven literally did it all for me. You can swap mods too so Remako is included if you want to see that. It also comes with HD FMVs, a remastered OST, gameplay mods that make it more like an international release, etc...
-
Ah, yes the power of mods.
-
Looks awesome, and to think it was done by an AI... Btw I love the PS1 era pre-rendered scenario and it saddens me that it is nowadays seen as a technical imperfection and we are never going to see a new game that has them again.
-
I don't like the re-modeled characters here, but the Remako mod with just the AI-upscaled prerendered backgrounds is the definitive way to experience the "original" version of FFVII IMO (at least until we can somehow experience the original PS1 version/code with upscaled backgrounds, but that tech doesn't exist yet).
-
AI upscaling is great, but the New Threat mod is where it's at.
-
I really want to try modding the PC version but can't stand the 15 fps menus during battle
-
This is how remake should've been. Tbh I don't like new formula especialy for ffvii remake. Hope ffxvi will be more like ffxv
