As it should be
2 : Anonymous2022/01/07 23:22 ID: hrpf57n

Everyone knows that the prison wallet leads to a pocket dimension.

3 : Anonymous2022/01/07 23:30 ID: hrpg93j

don't you just having to drop a rare weapon because you're too far from your base, and your inventory is filled with stuff you need?

I thought this was the experience that all gamers yearned for?

4 : Anonymous2022/01/07 23:35 ID: hrph2cm

Lame. It’s not even remotely engaging to look in my inventory and see 327 different weapons and armor. Might as well give unlimited health at that point

5 : Anonymous2022/01/07 23:42 ID: hrpi33m

People don’t understand how much of a nightmare that is to code and not crash the game.

6 : Anonymous2022/01/07 23:44 ID: hrpicje

I'm looking at you, Diablo 2 Resurrected...I'm so sick of creating ten extra "mule" characters just to hold stuff for my main one.

7 : Anonymous2022/01/07 20:29 ID: hronyzj

Inventory weights feel so antiquated to me now. I get there are some immersion benefits but most games have so much random bullshit drop now it’s like…pick one.

8 : Anonymous2022/01/07 19:43 ID: hrogm26

Also weapons and armours have no durability

9 : Anonymous2022/01/07 19:59 ID: hroj6du

In Mech Warrior 5, having an arm blown off means you lose what ever was installed in that arm. Shiny new Autocannon and a few tons of ammo? Cya! It also means you are likely not going to be looting those parts too but the game is balanced around it so it feels natural. TES Oblivion on the otherhand... Let me keep my damn sword, Todd!

10 : Anonymous2022/01/07 21:11 ID: hrout3j

I loved that when I started playing Mech warrior.

11 : Anonymous2022/01/07 22:34 ID: hrp7tks

I really enjoy it when a game makes you think about how you win. The enemy has a big, fat, giant gun. We can either destroy the gun and make the fight significantly easier, but if we can with without destroying the gun, we might loot it and get one for ourselves.

Those kinds of choices to me are perfect game design.

12 : Anonymous2022/01/07 22:32 ID: hrp7hcy

That’s the stuff right there. I’ve been playing the Witcher 3 and honestly the only quarrel I have with the game is the durability on gear. I don’t see how it could be fun to have to occasionally repair gear. Always that one thing I don’t like about amazing games.

13 : Anonymous2022/01/07 22:56 ID: hrpb5v8

This is why I felt like Zelda BotW was just an “ok” game to me. I’m not sure what weapon durability added other than stress for me. Played most of the game using a stick so I didn’t break a good sword I might need later.

Really detracts from the fun.

14 : Anonymous2022/01/07 23:14 ID: hrpdxid

BOTW has durability because otherwise 80% of the chests would be pointless or they'd have to actually create useful stuff to put into it. Without durability once you got a decent weapon you'd never care about finding a chest again.

15 : Anonymous2022/01/07 21:04 ID: hrotqey

What is this, baby o'clock? Why don't I just turn fucking damage off altogether, if I'm just gonna have a hundred frames of invincibility on every roll

16 : Anonymous2022/01/07 22:52 ID: hrpakvc

Based

17 : Anonymous2022/01/07 22:17 ID: hrp57y5

You are nitpicking and biased, I win

18 : Anonymous2022/01/07 20:49 ID: hror8wa

Sad Fallout 76 noises

19 : Anonymous2022/01/07 21:05 ID: hrotqyp

To be honest i like if the inventory space is limited and placement management is a thing. (Like in Resident Evil games). I also love when even the ammo has some weight that you have to calculate into your build like in New Vegas’s hardcore mode. It just add extra challenge to the game and forces you to do some decision making.

20 : Anonymous2022/01/07 22:37 ID: hrp8dkj

I think a lot of gamers hate inventory systems because a lot of gamers are closet hoarders, idk you needs to tell yall, but you don't need to be carrying 4 empty bottles, 2 flowers, a handful of seeds or whatever else you decide to pickup on a whim because you always play a human vacuum cleaner

21 : Anonymous2022/01/07 23:07 ID: hrpcxcc

Yeah but games drive players to do that. Either through making it the main source of income via selling looted items or through crafting forcing players to collect every little thing in the off chance they need it to make something later.

If a game mechanic both drives me to collect random shit so that I can get cool gear but also caps me on how much random shit I can hold then I usually just download an inventory mod because I don't like to play the inventory management game. Personally I just prefer games where crafting materials just aren't a thing entirely or where merchants sell the materials you need easily so there is no need to vacuum up everything in sight.

22 : Anonymous2022/01/07 23:25 ID: hrpfnh2

Crafting as a mechanic is just a pain, IMO.

It'd be different if the game were clever enough to let you make anything out of anything-- either a Scribblenauts-style "they sat down and thought of everything" or a crafting mechanism that worked on expectation-agnostic attributes and let you stick together whatever you could stick together to do what it did. The whole "Find one of exactly this thing, six of that, and four of something that doesn't make any sense but was the closest thing to useful that the developers could come up with" recipes, and having to keep referring to some exact, likely unuintuitive recipe, is just annoying.

Give me uninhibited roleplaying or give me full-featured crap lying around!

23 : Anonymous2022/01/07 21:20 ID: hrow91w

That's one of the things that's great about PC gaming.

If there's inventory space limits, I mod it to make it unlimited. I barely ever use mods for anything else.

Skyrim is entirely ruined by inventory limits and it's a joy with unlimited space. Same for the Fall Out titles.

24 : Anonymous2022/01/07 23:11 ID: hrpdi3x

It's only ruined if you feel the need to pick everything up. If you just pick up items that have a certain weight efficiency, it's a lot better. You also don't really even need to do that much better you don't even need that much money.

25 : Anonymous2022/01/07 22:58 ID: hrpbhxb

Bethesda games are great examples of how not to do inventory space. It is never a choice of what your character actually needs in those games, instead the question is "does this pile of junk cost more for its weight than the other 20 piles of junk in my inventory?" that is not an engaging question for players to ask and is more frustrating than rewarding.

26 : Anonymous2022/01/07 22:11 ID: hrp4clx

depends.... there can be weight restrictions still

27 : Anonymous2022/01/07 23:11 ID: hrpdihs

Ah yes, unlimited space for me to store all the potions I will never use, because what if I need them later!

28 : Anonymous2022/01/07 20:40 ID: hropr2j

Escape from Tarkov has entered the chat

29 : Anonymous2022/01/07 20:48 ID: hror2ks

Limited, unlimited, im just happy when its alphabetized.

30 : Anonymous2022/01/07 22:10 ID: hrp448u

I personally dislike the alphabetical organization, I'd rather have item type organization - Weapons, Armors, Potions, Books, Miscellaneous, etc. If it's going to be organized then please do it the right way...

31 : Anonymous2022/01/07 22:25 ID: hrp6gbj

Options for all of these please, and sorting by name, weight, damage, etc.

32 : Anonymous2022/01/07 22:25 ID: hrp6eh4

Limited inventory? So you have chosen death mods.

33 : Anonymous2022/01/07 20:03 ID: hrojvbb

what games are there with unlimited inventory?

I've never played one that doesn't cap at some point. At the hundreds, thousands, millions, etc - there's always a cap coded in even if you can't feasibly reach it in-game I feel like. But maybe some of those idle clickers are truly unlimited.

34 : Anonymous2022/01/07 20:58 ID: hrosoki

I think Katamari Damacy was my favorite unlimited inventory game.

35 : Anonymous2022/01/07 21:29 ID: hroxnvi

depends how you define the limits. Dark souls has a limit on any given item, but you can have every single item on you, including multiples of every weapon, and extras are sent to storage, so there's never the need to manage inventory to fit something new in. You may need to manage it to make sense of the mess though.

36 : Anonymous2022/01/07 23:02 ID: hrpc311

If it's in the millions, it's more of a technical/theoretical limit and there will always be one. But it's practically unlimited if the player can't reasonably hit that cap, at least without abusing glitches or exploits for millions of items

37 : Anonymous2022/01/07 21:23 ID: hrowp12

Idk if Zelda botw has one but I don't think I reached a cap.

38 : Anonymous2022/01/07 21:31 ID: hroxylm

Ahhh, this gets into what all we consider to be part of the inventory.

I also never hit a cap for consumables & such, but the weapon/armor inventory was way too dang tiny as a super collector who wanted to own one of each armor + dye combination possible I was super sad at how that wasn't possible.. I think you barely had enough space to have one of each armor if I remember right? Been a while now.

39 : Anonymous2022/01/07 23:05 ID: hrpcjcm

What a soyboy. I bet you use aim assist too

40 : Anonymous2022/01/07 22:55 ID: hrpb1zs

nah, this is wack. Hoarding useless junk is a disgusting way to play a game.

41 : Anonymous2022/01/07 23:01 ID: hrpbxw1

Unlimited inventory often means No inventory system at all.

42 : Anonymous2022/01/07 23:05 ID: hrpcmvm

Guildwars 2 has too many items, boxes that gives you more boxes, it's a nightmare. At least they have a "deposit all materials" button and a "salvage all".

43 : Anonymous2022/01/07 23:06 ID: hrpcsex

Don’t talk like this in PoE. Those fanatics will actually get angry on behalf of the devs (GGG)

44 : Anonymous2022/01/07 23:09 ID: hrpd5fd

I would leave. As a train driver.

45 : Anonymous2022/01/07 23:10 ID: hrpdcxg

Cyberpunk 2077 is so bad in this regards. Had to use mods to give me additonal hotkeys so that i am not going into inventory to drink buff items. And have auto dissemble.

46 : Anonymous2022/01/07 23:21 ID: hrpex26

I bought the standard version of tarkov. All the items I’ve looted so far isn’t even that much, plus I have the scav junk box( I’m level six). Half of the game at this point is inventory management. Trying to keep the good items and sell the least good items, it’s crazy. Ofc you can spend more money on bigger staches.

47 : Anonymous2022/01/07 23:28 ID: hrpg2j3

And if it doesn't, mod it.

48 : Anonymous2022/01/07 23:33 ID: hrpgsdk

true indeed. but I don't play games for inventory management. otherwise I'd just buy a game called inventory management.

49 : Anonymous2022/01/07 23:35 ID: hrph1ou

I feel it changes a lot of the game tbh

the question to ask if it's adding anything. like PoE and Diablo at first seems like they should have unlimited inventory but doing devalues the trad market. Games like wow had to to put in bind on equip systems to counter that issue some but then you end up not having anything cool to trade anymore. However looking at diablo(not poe) post bind on account revamp, inventory management is just a choir, which i dont think really needs limited inventory anymore tbh.

IMO it has to serve a purpose, just like many other people have gone on about with resident evil

50 : Anonymous2022/01/07 23:35 ID: hrph39b

Astroneer has a VERY limited inventory spaces, but that's because it's part of its core design. Game designer don't limit the inventory space just to fuck you (unless they sell it as micro-transactions).

51 : Anonymous2022/01/07 23:45 ID: hrpiink

Idk about inventory but I do love an infinite storage like chests in minecraft or a bank of some sort!
