I've been playing through the Yakuza series and after getting the 60 fps in 0 and kiwami 1 going to 30 fps in yakuza kiwami 2 is brutal especially for an action game. I don't understand why the ps5 can't do at least 1440p 60 if not 4k 60 and since the xbox series x got improvements it makes it that much more baffling. I'm pretty underwhelmed with the cross-gen support so far as there's quite a few other games I could make this same post about.

It’s because it’s up to the developers. If they don’t patch it, then that’s on them.
-
Based on Judgment getting a $40 re-release to justify the performance bump I’d expect Sega to go that route if they even bother with those games unfortunately. You can’t expect Sony to do any performance patches either unfortunately since been pretty slow to get out patches or in spider-man’s case, charging for it.
It’s the one of the areas along with BC that I’d have to give props to Microsoft.

The only Yakuza game that has Series X enhancements is Yakuza: Like a Dragon so I'm not sure what you're talking about.

ID: gqvhcjwYakuza 0 runs at 60 fps on every platform, as does Kiwami. Yakuza Kiwami 2 and Yakuza 6 use a newer version of Dragon Engine and run at 30 fps except on PC.
-
3-5 are already 60 fps. It's just 2 and 6
-
Kiwami 2 uses the new engine. Whereas the original Kiwami and 0 both ran on an the same older engine.
I hope they release something too though, as it's keeping me from wanting to play Kiwami 2 at the moment.
ID: gqwlqmxSame. Even my crappy pc can run it at max settings 1080p and get 95-105 fps. Sony should be putting more pressure on devs to do a patch. It's not like it would take any work there's already a pc version that has an unlocked framerate it can't be that hard to do the same on ps5
-
Highly unlikely.
You might see fps boost and similar on xbox but thats because Microsoft can do that by themselves.
We are lucky Sega even bottered with an update for Judgement

This is an embarrassing thread. Look at some of these comments. Holy shit.
Anyway, to actually answer your question. It's unfortunately totally up to Sega. While Microsoft is making improvements to games without the publishers or developers involvement, Sony is not. That means you're relying on Sega, and lemme tell, few things are as unlikely as Sega doing something for free. There is every chance, to be fair. Judgement is getting a paid re-release, and that runs on the Dragon Engine, same as Yakuza 2 and 6. So there is every chance they'll just go back and add an option to unlock the framerate or boost the resolution. You can already do those things on PC, there is very little reason beyond pure laziness or greed to not do those things.
I would tweet at the relevant people on Twitter. Try and get someone's attention. Let them know we want it.
ID: gqwdmueWriting this much is more embarrassing. Holy shit.
ID: gqwixgfYeah, after charging for the yakuza 7 upgrade in Japan, then charging us for Judgment too, Sega does not care and will gladly take money from people whose eyeballs bleed looking at 30 fps. They are more likely to release a complete 1-6 kiyru collection for next gen than make a simple patch for free.
ID: gqwe005Having a tiny attention span like yours is even more embarrassing.
ID: gqwgjv2The thread is embarrassing because there's a fucking comment about DirectX.

Wait am I missing some new enhancements here? All the yakuza games are direct ports of the ps4 version so they run capped anyway. Only yakuza 7 is enhanced for both.
-
No, not a chance, because Sega.
-
Sony dosent use directX. Microsoft uses directX to raise the fps to 60.
ID: gqvfzvpThat is not what that does or how that works lol
ID: gqvg30oIt just removes the cap of direct3D and makes it render at 60 fps.

What does this have to do with yakuza lol
