What will be a better upgrade for a 1660ti, a Ryzen 7 3700x or a Ryzen 5 5600x?

I use a 3200g and the 1660ti, and it has some bottleneck. Which would be a better upgrade?

Depends on what you are doing, but most likely the 5600x in most cases

If it’s just gaming then 5600x for per core arch improvement.

3700x maybe if you do a lot of multicore work but 5600x probably only 15% slower in multicore

It doesn't matter too much. Whichever is cheaper. If you want to save even more, a Ryzen 3600 will game nearly as well as the two you mentioned.

Some? Because the 5600x is more than capable to multitask as well. What they mean is stuff like rendering 4k videos or editing film etc. That's where the 3700x shines a bit more. Gaming wise, the 5600x is going to be better.

I would consider the 3700x if you plan to stream or have a secondary monitor.

Depends on what games you play.

Assuming 1080p, if you play competitive shooters at lower settings, the 5600X would make a big difference with increased FPS.

If you play single player games at max settings, either one is OK I would think, since the GPU would become the bottleneck and FPS don't matter that much in that case.

Get whatever is cheaper. Both would be a huge upgrade over the 3200G.

Though I've been checking Techpowerup's review of the 5600X and the extra cores on the 3700X only give it an edge on media encoding for example. Other tests seem to show the 5600X being clearly ahead.

For budget, 3700x

For anything else, would recommend the 5600x, the performance benefits with Zen 3 is just crazy and speaking that you aren't currently shooting yourself with 4c/4t, I think you'll do great with 6 cores 12 threads 🙂
