Keep in mind while reading this that I'm a tarkov player of 4+ yrs and only want this game to succeed, and I'm pissed cause I know they can do better.
Whatever they did in this latest patch completely killed many patches worth of optimization fixes. I am literally getting 40 fps on customs and I used to get over double that. Yes, all my settings are the same. Yes it's on my SSD. Yes I cleared my caches. Yes I did a fresh reinstall. I have absolutely scoured the internet for information on this and nothing has fixed it, and it seems to only get worse.
Howcome whenever these patches come out it's like rolling the dice on if the performance is there or not? Do the devs just not organize their builds, and then old bugs and performance issues from years ago make their way back into the new patches? I have actually seen this happen multiple times, it really wouldn't surprise me.
I have a Ryzen 7 2700x with a 1070 and 32gb of RAM. I know I don't have the best computer but it's not bad, and I could actually play the game before. My performance was questionable ever since upgrading to a Ryzen CPU (intel users of comparable CPUs getting 20+ fps more than me, only on this game), but with this patch was literally cut in HALF. A quick google search reveals that many other people have experienced the same thing, but because the majority of the population isn't experiencing this to my knowledge, there's NO WORD about it.
I also continuously hear about people having the same problems as me who have Ryzen CPUs. (does the game seriously only run decent on intel?) I literally upgraded my CPU for tarkov. Are us Ryzen users just screwed? These posts never get upvoted on the subreddit and a lot of people are told to either 'upgrade' or 'deal with it'. (have you tried to aim in tarkov with 35-40 fps? It's like having a massive weight attached to your gun, you just can't have the reaction speed that you want and it consistently screws you over. This is the one game where it's just not gonna work out with framerates this low.)
The few genuinely helpful posts that are out there have been exhausted with the problem still not fixed. I know there's a ton of people out there like me. Man I love the game but I can't afford to build a new PC every wipe because it keeps getting re-unoptimized and I'm tired of pretending like this isn't a problem.
EDIT: Before one more person comments here telling me it's my 1070, how about you read a few of the other comments first? 3080s getting 50 fps? And you're saying it's my GPU? Give me a break dude.
EDIT2: Yes I have XMP enabled in my bios. I've tried Simultaneous Multi Threading(AMDs version of hyper threading) and it helps but I've already had that on for years. People who are saying it's my 2700x, please look through the thread, there are countless people with 5800x and 3080s all having sub par fps. Really glad it's not just me.
EDIT3: No, I am not running on 1440p, or 4k, at least that would partially explain it, if that were the case. I am on 1080p which is like the bare minimum now.

Game is weird af.
Just yesterday I played Interchange with 80+ fps through the whole thing, joined a scav run immediately afterwards on the same map, was struggling to get 40 fps in the same spots.
Also, lighting on Interchange sucks ass
ID: hqf1okoID: hqf6truIs this a memory leak issue or something?
ID: hqf16p7Use Lvndmarks postfix settings when running interchange. It helps immensely.
ID: hqf1katGot link? Thx
ID: hqfh2f1Postfx settings depends on your monitor they wont work the same for everyone, only way to get good visibility with Postfx is to actually go and test it yourself and mess around with it.

same performance is worst i9900k ,32 ram , 3080 , game installed on nvme...
ID: hqer37gI'm on basically the same setup. I cannot for the life of me figure it out. I also noticed my video card RAM utilization is basically at 100% at all times when playing tarkov now. I'm not sure what it was before this patch, but that seems crazy to me.
ID: hqfr3wnGPU ram can be 100% allocated to a program but it doesn't mean necessary that it uses it all. Windows only reports what the program is currently "holding"

same here I got a ryzen 7 3700x and rtx 2060 and struggle to get 60 fps on any map
ID: hqekkaodude I have 4670k and 1060 6GB before this patch I've had a solid 70 on average on Customs, Shoreline, 80-90 on Woods and pretty much stable 60 on Reserve, now I'm struggle to keep stable 60 on customs, usually it's 45-55 now. that's nuts.
ID: hqf0n367700k 980ti. noticed immediately this wipe that my performance dropped by 20-30fps. ~60fps all maps. Before 80-110. Improved after patches on Dec 27 for me though.
ID: hqedvzwYeah man, I'm not sure what's wrong, but it seems like we're in a minority and it scares me because it means this problem will potentially never get fixed unless there's a decent amount of visibility on it.
ID: hqf687qI literally can't play reserve. I get 30fps with non stop drops to under 10 anytime I loot. See a player or scav. Ho in a building. Turn around too fast lmao. Anything really.
ID: hqejtvnWe are on a minority sadly

I forgot specifically what it was, but I've noticed a couple old bugs come back! It feels like they rolled out some old version of the game.

Ryzen 9 3900x and rtx 3070 with 32 gifs of 3600 ram
Tarkov runs worse than on my 1070 and I7 4790k.
ID: hqem6yrAlmost exactly the same setup as my old one. My old CPU was an i7 4770k and it ran better than this. I bought a new CPU so tarkov would run better and it was literally a DOWNGRADE. This CPU outperforms my old CPU in every single way possible except the one reason I bought it for..
ID: hqf4872I have an i9-9900k with a 3060 and lost like 20 frames when wipe came out. I’ve recovered back up to 60 fps but compared to the 70+ I used to get with a i5 and 1070 and 85+ with my current specs before wipe, something is definitely wrong.
-
Same, Woods and Lighthouse is the worst for me. Customs feels the same but I havent looked at the actual numbers yet
ID: hqg5a4mLighthouse is still horribly unoptimized. The map is too big for the number of high poly objects on it
-
+1. I have been crashing like mad for the first time in 4 wipes since the start of this latest wipe. Performance is worse than I’ve ever seen it.
-
I’ve been getting crazy stuttering on all maps the past two days. It could be my pc but I think I saw a few people on here saying they were getting them too
-
I love this game but I don't understand how fix performance is not the main priority for the devs. Sometimes, the game is unplayable for me, and if you look about in the internet seems everyone have performance issues with all kinds of pc builds.
And connection issues... For another post.
-
I have a Ryzen 9 5900 and RTX 3060. 16GB of memory and the game is on an NVMe. Barely keep above 60fps at 1440p on customs with literally every setting as low as it can go.
I can play Destiny 2 with everything at max at 1440p at 165fps and the game looks like a Pixar movie. Meanwhile Tarkov looks like dogshit and is still running like ass.
Nobody talks about it because nothing is ever done about it. We've just come to accept it.
ID: hqf9xl9Its because it's a poorly optimized CPU bound game. I don't know if it's the AI or some other scripting, but it's laughable how poor the technical side of the game is at times.
I've heard excuses like the AI is revolutionary or that the amount of loot loaded into the map is like nothing else, but there are tons of survival games with highly interactable game worlds that don't have this problem.
I think there's probably a lot of technical debt in regards to how a few crucial things were built early on and that's why optimization is hard for them and breaks so often. We will likely never see a Tarkov that runs well.
-
Upvoted. I experience similar problems. Had 100+ before on all maps. Struggle to get 60 now.
ID: hqf05hgRight with you
-
People on gaming subreddits will always blame the end user so dont worry when people start attacking you. Your gpu is more then enough especially for 1080p gaming, its still a high end card.
-
Yep. They fucked up big time this wipe.
Ryzen 5 3600, 1660 Super, 16 gb Ram at 3600 MHz, downloaded on an SSD.
I used to get 100-120 frames on all maps, 144 on Factory. Now I’m getting 60-80 and using a scope drops me by 20-30 frames. I know dropping frames while scoping in has impacted players from previous wipes, but I have never experienced that until this wipe.
Lighthouse is 40-50 frames with a ton of stuttering. Factory is the only consistency from last wipe as I’m still at 144 frames.
Honestly not worth playing with such a big impact to how the game runs.
Edit: Also, what the hell did they do to offline raids? I used to get the same FPS offline as live and now offline is consistently running around 40-50 frames with 10-30 in Lighthouse. And yes, I was getting high, consistent frames with scavs & bosses enabled.
-
Same, used to have stable 60fps on every outdoor map (except reserve with stable 50). After they move on new version of unity engine i lost 10-15fps across the board, so it's stable 45 on customs for example, not glorious 60.
-
Yall saying its is computer are blind or deaf. I got an i7 8700k running at 5ghz and a 3080 and i still barely get 50 fps on lighthouse and lost about 20 in all of the other maps since 12.12
-
Weird thing is I actually lost around 20 fps on average (from 120 to lower 100). Specs are 5600x 32gb 3600ram 1070ti. While my friend who has 5800x + 3090 is sitting below 90 fps. He had 140 before this patch.
-
Used to get 110 on Customs with a 3090 and i7-12700K now getting about 70
-
Yeah I’ve had worse performance this wipe. Lost about 5 FPS and when I had 50 usually it’s a pretty big impact. Already on low settings 🙁
I heard that it’s because of the Twitch drops though so maybe it will be getting better? I am CPU limited so it kinda would make sense
-
I’m always talking about it
-
Let's talk about the Lighthouse map:
Offline without bots I get 95% GPU usage and 80% CPU usage. That equals to about 80 FPS.
Online I get 50% GPU and 50% CPU usage and about 40 FPS.
The netcode is so bad it actually hinders the rendering of frames.
-
Something is up with GPU and CPU utilization on some rigs. I get barely 60 FPS on any map with a ryzen 5 3600x and 3060ti on 1080p, yet my friend with the same gpu and 5600x gets 30 to 40 fps more than me.... ON 1440P!
I tried a lot but I can't seem to fix it. I'm really considering just reinstalling my entire OS to see if that fixes it.
-
R9 5900x, 32GB 4400Mhz RAM, RTX 3080, running off a Samsung 2TB 980Pro PCIe 4 NVMe, CPU running at 38%, GPU running at 32% and I'm getting 55fps on the regular...
I wouldn't say I'm Steve Burke but I've been building, optimizing and Overclocking PCs for 20 years and was one of the early builders on OCN.
No idea WTF is going on here other than it's possibly a side affect of the Unity upgrade and they'll have to re-optimize. As much as I love this game BSG is known in the dev community for not having the Unity expertise they need and not believing they need to pay to get it.
-
yeah i'm the exact same, also on ryzen cpu (which actually made most of my games run better back when i installed it, apart from Tarkov)
-
Massively agree, i don't have a great system: 1070, 4560K @ 4 ghz, 16 gb ram but i used to get 80-100 fps on most maps, ~50-60 on reserve, but now i get 25-40 on all maps...
-
Yeah, this patch dumped my fps as well, lost a good 10 on average, I have checked every Nvidia setting and shit to see if maybe something was turned on, but it's not on my end. They must have fucked something up while they ported the game to the new version of unity.
-
Yea, I'm getting hammered on the FPS on most maps. Average about 65 with i9 10900K, RTX3080. 2560x1440. Painful this wipe.
-
10700k, 32gbs of ram, 3070ti, tarkov is on one of my nvme ssd's and I struggle to maintain 80 fps at 1440p. I turned some settings down and performance got worse lol it literally runs better for me now that I have settings turned up but yea, I should be killing tarkov @ 1440p. This 3070ti destroys every other game I've thrown at it. There will be times where I hover around 50 fps with my GPU utilization sitting at 55%. I pray for the day they transition to a better game engine. But for now, I'll enjoy what I can get. Happy hunting fellow tarkovians.
-
100% I feel the same. I can't play with scopes this wipe. I killed 4 people on shoreline and was out of ammo so I picked up a scoped adar from a guy and I died because the scope game me like -20 FPS. Used to get like 80 FPS last wipe except reserve. Now it's about 45-50 without scope. With scope it's like 20-30.
-
Same issue, but with an intel cpu. Having 50fps while gpu & cpu usage doesn't go above 70% no matter what settings. Have done pretty much everything you described and the issue still persists. Upvoting this and hopefully it will be fixed.
-
It's not just you dude, I have a 2070 and I've notice my frames stay around 55 when before it's been in the high 70s for most maps.
-
yeah a bunch a weird things are happing if I go night factory I get like 40 fps but in daytime I get a solid 100, seems like anything to do with lights just kills fps.
-
Finally someone is taking up this issue.
1080 GTX, same problem, previous patch was great, now, ADSing with scopes is very clunky and laggy. not sure wassup. Lighthouse is 100% unplayable. Factory and Customs is alright
-
Its not your computer bro, i have a 8700K with 32ddr4 M.2 and a 2080TI ... my FPS is not as low as yours BUT i can confirm it was CUT in half after the patch.
50-60 FPS Customs where i always had 110+ and same for the rest of maps beside Factory and Labs
Lighthouse is even worse sometimes i get 30-40 FPS which is disgusting low for a shooter where 0.1 sec late gets you killed.
