Battlefield 2042 (PS5) Download Size : 42.717 GB (Without Day One Patch)

The preload isn't out on Xbox yet so we don't know. The store listing for the cross gen bundle initially says 117GB when you open it up but then adjusts to something like 280MB which is just the preorder licence. The store listings aren't massively accurate for many games (Ubisoft games seem particularly prone to inaccuracies I've noticed). Especially with cross gen bundles where it has a tendency to list the sizes of both game versions combined, so we'll have to wait and see.

I think the PS5 has that compression technology on it's internal SSD anyway. So I expect it to be less than XSX.

I’m not 100% sure but isn’t download size compressed and then the game unzips itself after being downloaded? And isn’t day one patch usually just bug fixes that replaces old files and discard them? Meaning it usually doesn’t increase size that much.

No, that’s not how it works on PS5, the download size is the exact size it will be when installed. But yes day 1 patch won’t increase size much, patches can replace old files too. But they’re not unzipped and get bigger

Unfortunately, I don’t think new games are accessible through the EA Play subscription right away. The subscription usually comes with a slight discount on the purchase price for the first few months the games are out.

Black Friday sees sales even on new games. Even highly rated games drop in price even if they released same month

Its also important to judge based on version. Ps4 version can easily be larger than ps5.

It's almost 2.1:1 data reduction up from the usual 1.5-1.6:1 we've been seeing.

If they are using the most recent version of oodle along with texture, it's a decent number with 4k textures.

As of 2.9.1 we saw better zen decompression on kraken and with 2.9.5 we are seeing faster texture decodes, meaning we can use more compression without impacting final I/O latency and response to engine.

All this presuming texture res/size is same across both.
