I thought it was like close to 100 GB. Isn't that what they said for XSX?

ID: hj1ysp6

The preload isn't out on Xbox yet so we don't know. The store listing for the cross gen bundle initially says 117GB when you open it up but then adjusts to something like 280MB which is just the preorder licence. The store listings aren't massively accurate for many games (Ubisoft games seem particularly prone to inaccuracies I've noticed). Especially with cross gen bundles where it has a tendency to list the sizes of both game versions combined, so we'll have to wait and see.

I think the PS5 has that compression technology on it's internal SSD anyway. So I expect it to be less than XSX.

3 : Anonymous2021/11/02 19:02 ID: hj1osd6

I expected much worse.

4 : Anonymous2021/11/02 16:12 ID: hj0yvb2

Not bad, I'm guessing it'll be around 70-90 with day one patch.

ID: hj1gblk

No chance it will increase that much on day 1

ID: hj2ino9

Laughs in Far Cry 6 30gb day one patch

ID: hj13a46

I’m not 100% sure but isn’t download size compressed and then the game unzips itself after being downloaded? And isn’t day one patch usually just bug fixes that replaces old files and discard them? Meaning it usually doesn’t increase size that much.

ID: hj1g98b

No, that’s not how it works on PS5, the download size is the exact size it will be when installed. But yes day 1 patch won’t increase size much, patches can replace old files too. But they’re not unzipped and get bigger

ID: hj141in

Sure but you still have to download alot.

Hoping there's a discount for Black Friday - regardless I'm not dropping $70 on it if I can wait a month or two and grab it for $40.

ID: hj1cr30

I doubt it. Black Friday is one week after release. I can’t imagine a deal more than $5.

I’ll see how release is. If it’s as bad as BFV was, I’ll hold out for another “BF Veteran” discount. Probably not, but I’m going to wait and see.

Actually, I might pay $5 and try it out with EA Play.

ID: hj1ds7l

Unfortunately, I don’t think new games are accessible through the EA Play subscription right away. The subscription usually comes with a slight discount on the purchase price for the first few months the games are out.

ID: hj2twiq

Eh I doubt it will be $40 but I can see bf2042 being $60 or even $50 on black Friday.

Black Friday sees sales even on new games. Even highly rated games drop in price even if they released same month

ID: hj1wcyk

Bfv released during same time frame and went on sale in Christmas deals fyi.

ID: hj1f0vt

Hm. In any case, best to gauge what exactly the response to this game is first. It has a lot of red flags in my book.

ID: hj4zfcx

It’ll be cheaper on EBay be Xmas. This game has about 15 red flags all over it. Bc

6 : Anonymous2021/11/02 21:49 ID: hj2evbb

No one made the “unfinished game” jokes. Thank god

ID: hj2h5wg

It’ll be double the size 18 months after release once they finish the game. There you go.

8 : Anonymous2021/11/02 20:45 ID: hj24pm2

Day one patch gonna be bigger than the game

9 : Anonymous2021/11/02 17:17 ID: hj18itp

How large will the bug files be?

10 : Anonymous2021/11/02 22:06 ID: hj2hejh

It's 92.42GB on the Series X. Are we looking at the benefits of better compression and removal of redundancy data as promised? Seems those 825GB of internal storage were not so small after all. Still I'm saving for an internal expansion SSD. Anyways, this is good news.

ID: hj2u9hh

Last I checked preload wasn't on Xbox so you are making that up currently.

Its also important to judge based on version. Ps4 version can easily be larger than ps5.

ID: hj2mni7

It’s making me realize i don’t need many games on my PS5, especially since seeing so many games psyches me out. I like it

ID: hj4dr4j

Most likely.

It's almost 2.1:1 data reduction up from the usual 1.5-1.6:1 we've been seeing.

If they are using the most recent version of oodle along with texture, it's a decent number with 4k textures.

As of 2.9.1 we saw better zen decompression on kraken and with 2.9.5 we are seeing faster texture decodes, meaning we can use more compression without impacting final I/O latency and response to engine.

All this presuming texture res/size is same across both.

Not gonna lie, I'm a little upset that they're charging $30 to play it a week early

edit: lol downvote me all you want, i'm still upset lmao. $30 is nuts, whether I get the fuck over it or not.

ID: hj3zblp

You also get a year of battle pass which makes it worth in my eyes

ID: hj66o5o

BP is only right to grind. You still need to play enough to get through challanges.

ID: hj66m2j

I think it's 20 € and by now it's tradition.

ID: hj68obu

On PS4/PS5 its $69.99 standard or $99.99 gold, $119.99 ultimate.

Apparently this sub reddit has some assholes

ID: hj2203r

I tried looking it up for you, but couldn't find one unfortunately. Looks like ps5 file size was only revealed. Sucks that you weren't getting a reasonable response.

ID: hj29yal

First time?

ID: hj1ne00

Go ask in the PS4 sub.

13 : Anonymous2021/11/02 18:38 ID: hj1kyrt

They had to turn it into a Call of duty clone didn't they. Fucking EA.

42gb I'll never waste on my SSD.

Edit: You can downvote me but you know its true.

ID: hj1n0te

Thanks for letting us know..?

ID: hj2kgod

No, it’s a fourth the install size of a COD game.

ID: hj32wr9

New cod is 37 gb on my ps5

ID: hj25w7n

And how exactly is this a call of duty clone?

I can say that Tactical sprint is not a reason.

And neither are specialists.

ID: hj26m8g

Because almost all the features that made BF unique are gone.
